Fair enough to you, but how does that make it absurd? Plenty of women play as male protagonists in games, even RPGs, even when presented with a choice not to.
The trouble is it being made mandatory.

And I would be content if the Bioware forum wasn't infested with Witcher bastards who keep bashing Bioware in comparison. It's not like I'm invading their space.
Well thats weird, no one's invading this space. The people here are fans of Bioware's games, past or present. If there's tons of love for The Witcher games here its because TW1/2/3 earned it and people are fans of the same games. If some of them think The Witcher games are better and want Bioware to take elements of what they see to be a superior franchise, is that bad?
It's worth mentioning that Witcher 3 is Ciri's story, not Geralt's story. You just happen to see it unfold from Geralt's perspective.I don't play men, at least not in RPGs.
Absolutely. I never enjoyed the first one enough to bother finishing it. Witcher 2's story is the only reason I kept playing it through completion. The third one is so much better than the previous two it's a no-brainer to say it's worth your time and money. So, genuine question here. If someone genuinely disliked the first two Witcher games (I found the writing and voice acting to be terrible in the first one and the second one just failed to captivate me), do you think they might still enjoy The Witcher III? I've heard so much praise that part of me really wants to check it out despite being burned twice before.
The trouble is it being made mandatory.
Well, it is The Witcher. Would be odd if you weren't playing Geralt as the main protagonist. At least TW3 has segments where you play as Ciri. And through the game you realize that its really Ciri's story thru Geralt's eyes.
DAO is several leagues better than witcher 1 and 2. Like I won't even argue it, its a fact.
Yeah, but we're talking Inquisition versus Witcher 3. Something that has never been done before!DAO is several leagues better than witcher 1 and 2. Like I won't even argue it, its a fact.

Not important, at least not to me. Maybe I'll see CDPR as worth more than garbage if they fix this in the Cyberpunk game, but we'll have to wait and see.
Dude here, and my first run in custom-character RPGs is always as a female. No particular reason, other than kicking assets as a woman.
I also prefer whole grain bread, sweet potatoes, and pinot noir.
Also a dude here, also plays as women in RPGs. At least most of the time the last few years. Mostly because I figure that developers will see that female characters are being played more and more, thus creating more female characters to play as in games.
That and women are fun to play. I can play as a dude in a game whenever I want and have done so for thousands and thousands of hours. Gotta show female characters some love too.

"Garbage"? For what reason? Not putting words in your mouth, but is it because they happened to make a game with a male lead and no pick for a female equivalent?

Fix what?
Yeah, but we're talking Inquisition versus Witcher 3. Something that has never been done before!
lol. DAI was the game that made me think DA2 a masterpiece. ![]()

TW3 is CDPR top product. This is the point they will make very big decision. Its the only game they have made real money with after excluding the expenses, so will the scent of money change them like it has 99% of the companies? Or will they keep it up?
Also the story of witcher 3 is very personal and the plot is very simple and overused in other franchises but its executed perfectly so its more than makes up for it. Dragon Age story is not personal at all, its about world of Thedas. There are some things people care more about than their own character. So they are different.
I think TW3 did side quests and exploring much better than DA:I in which maps that do not have a role in main questline are empty and hollow, full of fetch and mindless kill quests. On the other hand DA:I has Solas which beats the cliche villains of TW3 with ease. I think Eredin is a joke in comparison.

I really have high hopes for that Cyberpunk game. I haven't cared much for Witcher, but I can't argue with CDPR's policies and politics. I'd love to give them some money if they give me a cyperpunk dystopian playground and let me populate it with a character of my own design.
lol. DAI was the game that made me think DA2 a masterpiece.

That was fairly egregious, yes. Other reasons exist, but they'd just lead into a larger fight. In part, I'm angry at them for creating something that might be leading the fandom and the industry astray by making them think that character customization is optional.

It must get lonely sitting alone in the endless void with that opinion.
Character customization is optional.
I think it's absolutely vital for RPGs of this genre.
DAO is several leagues better than witcher 1 and 2. Like I won't even argue it, its a fact.
No it's not. I found the writing of TW2 far better then DAO, with having the best depiction of politics in gaming (not even TW3 got its politics good) So not a fact.

How is CDP garbage, because you have to play a man (even tho in TW3 you play Ciri many times and the story is more about CIri then Geralt)? That's pretty dam sexist.

I don't think anyone here is going to defend TW3's primary antagonists over BioWare's. I would say however that the quasi-villains are better in TW3. The Baron and Birna Bran are easily better than Corypehus.

Apparently not judging by TW1/2/3's success. If it were vital wouldn't the franchise have failed?

Again, the problem is that it's a CRPG where you're forced to play as a man.
