All these people who want someone for their body and not for personality. So what if garrus is a velociraptor man. He is a great character who knows how to calibrate gun. Oh but when a man is particularly fond of a woman's looks over another everybody loses their minds. We're all hypocrites here. Can't just appreciate someone for their body alone. Garrus was there all the way. I felt kaidan felt kind of dull. Just my opinion.

Eh, for me, it's more of a preference for humans and not being able to get over the a visceral, "Ew, I don't want to romance frog man." Not there yet. My preference for humans is a much different discussion than asking for more diversity in the presentation of women than the typical overly sexualized space babe. If we only got beefcake men, I'd also ask for more representation for them as well.

I could care less about a person's appearance. I agree with Kelly Chambers: "Character matters, not race or gender.".

I don't hate kaidan. I just believe Garrus is a better LI. It doesn't matter if he isn't human. I see by your name that you like kaidan. I could care less would you think of me but I'm just expressing my opinion. :)

I think you're someone who took my joking forum posts too seriously  :P

Just because I love Kaidan more than Garrus doesn't make me shallow.  Which is what you're implying.  That because he is good looking, we couldn't possibly love him for anything other than his looks?  You also imply that is not possible to love both Kaidan and Garrus (which I do, btw).  And, imagine this, even though I love Kaidan best, I even like Ashley and hate leaving her behind.

There you have it, I love everyone from ME1. :P

Now relax and have fun.  I won't be derailing this thread with further posts about Kaidan.  Sorry!

I'm not expert, but I think women like men who can appreciate their looks and personality and Kaidan fits that role.Garrus can calibrate guns... Good. Because FemShep won't be calibrating his.

How much you want to bet that when we actually meet other races in this universe and we have the potential to mate with em that people are going to be like, eww dat nasty. People gonna be like, who cares? Let people be who they want to be. They want to sleep with a lizard man whatever. He knows how to show a woman a good time. Obviously we have no way of knowing what aliens will like but we'll see. It's like today with LGBT people, can't sleep with the same sex they say. **** You I can do whatever I want LGBT says. I'm just rambling at this point. I'm just defending garrus.

Well ditching Ash to get with Miranda for her body isn't right. The right choice is ditching Ash to get with Tali for her body and because she's adorable.

but in general Garrus is a better space bro than romantic interest.

I see what you are saying. I don't have any problem with other people's preference for aliens. No judgment there. As I said earlier, I realize I'm just personally not there yet and I also realize it's not necessarily rational. I feel okay admitting this as, well, we're talking about fictional characters and my hang up about romancing lizards.  :D

Much like with LGBT, there would be three main groups:

1. Ew dat nasty and impure and wrong

2. It's cool that others like it, but it's not for me

3. Report to the ship ASAP. We'll bang, okay?

Which one I fall into depends on the aliens. Quarians I'm a 3, Hanar I'm a 2.

Quarians, yes, I might be okay with a Quarian. They don't give off 'animals you would find on earth' vibes.  :P

Eh, I don't know about his romance-stuff, but considering the time he spends on "calibrating" I don't know if I would say he is good. :P(Seriously, You must mess up really badly to need THAT much calibration.)

You don't think pheromones  play a part in attraction?  I know you can't smell someone in game,  but I'm pretty sure if we ever do come across sentient aliens, they wont have the right pheromones.  It sort of makes the idea of alien romance just gratification.

In games though, anything goes.

I just thought this scene was very nicely done. Garrus may have been my right hand man as male shep but his charm, no other male LI can beat. This is why I like Garrus.

We're discussing fictional characters, not real people.

Also any person who says looks don't matter is a liar who just doesn't want to appear shallow. Personality only gets you so far, and it isn't what first impressions are based on. It takes awhile to truly get to know someone.

It might play a part but even among our own species right now there can still be attraction without smell.

I mean, I can already tell you if I meet a woman exactly like Kasumi I'd be all over her =P

Although if we were not capable of reproducing with them it would still, by definition, just be for gratification. Of course there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, either.

No $#¡t we're talking about fictional characters. Never said looks didn't matter. But......Looks only get you so far, then you gotta back up that personality and you got the full package. It matters on the type of person you are. Most of the time. That's my understanding of it. ;)

Agreed. If you like personality but appearance just doesn't satisfy you then there can only be room for friendship or some emotional bond but not any sexual relationship (unless you're really drunk) . Although first impressions are often based on personality. Person can be quite attractive but very quiet/awkward/boring or on the other hand rude/creepy and you just can't relax with that person. So I'll say looks alone won't cut it either.

Garrus has a metallic carapace, talons, and mandibles. I can't imagine most women in the real world would find that sexy, because they aren't human traits. It's really not too difficult to understand why some players prefer Kaidan.

I know I wouldn't want to see a human character making out with a monster, no matter how well written or acted the character. It's a bit Rule 34ish.

I'm attracted to some people without wanting a relationship on that level.

Of cause there is nothing wrong with just gratification.

Sure, but it is as you stated, fictional. But who knows? Some people into that. It's a fictional futuristic universe. Norms have changed. We have people talkin about wanting to bang Krogan. If they want to they should be given the option. Would I bang a female turian? That depends. If I made a femshep I would romance Garrus because he interesting. The writers did something right when they created his character. I can see that appearance does matter. Of course I get that. But Garrus' character had suave and he was actually cool. In real life would anyone romance someone who looks like him? The answer is maybe some. But in a fictional universe of course it's gonna be different. Nothing is outside the realm of possibility in a fictional universe. You've even got vorcha with asari.

Yeah, in real life, I'm sure weird alien pheromones might be a turn-off, if they even have them. There's also the issue that we just might not be able to relate to them on any meaningful level.

I mean, I'm sure it would've happened by now if not for the fact that genitals = AO to the ESRB.

If there's any nudity at all we'll probably just see a Witcher approach. Fully nude, nothing shown aside from bare chests.
