So I have been reading this series of articles on Mass Effect today ( http://www.shamusyou...edtale/?p=27792 great reading if you have the time) and got to the part talking about the ME2 ending and how you can basically have no squad going into ME3. This made me wonder if any one has done a 3 (Liara, EDI, James) squad play-through of ME3 and how that goes.

I have. I used James and Liara for the whole game. Not a big difference. Just less characters to talk with.  The biggest difference is the Citadel dlc. The party is not as interesting without the rest of the squad and the ME2 squadmates.

I feel James and EDI have more dialogue together especially in Citadel Coup. Liara is surprisingly the lowest priority for interactions most of the game. James sometimes compete with Kaidan for convo priority.

Liara, James and  edi will always have priority when it comes to dialogue, if taken on a mission. Liara will take priority over James and the edi.

Do you have a full "priority" list? Like who is higher between Garrus and Tali? Javik and Liara?

no

Garrus would have a higher priority if both were taken on the turian platoon and bomb missions. Tali would have a higher priority for the Rannoch missions. For other missions, don't know.

Javik and Liara?

Liara.

That must have made the party different. I would imagine that everyone sat around and drank a lot, but not for happy reasons.

The priority list can differ quite some times, but EDI and Javik are usually often the most overridden ones, at least I had the impression. I'm putting together videos of James's dialogues with each squadmate on each mission, and somewhere in-between I found this dialogue file, which is incredibly helpful to me. The character hierarchy is pretty accurate with this one. If a character is listed at the bottom, it's almost certain this one will always be overridden by the others.

AFAIK it´s the same as when you invite no more other people than the ones already on the list when you start.

That make's sense then.

On my first playthrough I was an Adept so my natural inclination on every mission was to take EDI and James who's powers best compliment Adept, IMO.  The only time I didn't was when they were unavailable due to the story requirements of the mission.  Since neither of them were present in ME2 it hardly made any difference but in subsequent playthroughs I believe that EDI and James both have more in-mission commentary than other squad members, perhaps because they are original ME3 characters and they are the only characters sure to be available to the player for every mission (or almost every mission.)  But that's just my feeling, Ive never gone digging through audio files or dialog trees.

Now you've got me thinking I should roll a Sentinel and take Liara and Javik through the whole thing just to see ...

Sure. They are a great combination. Story-wise and gameplay wise.

They also have some very interesting remarks whenever they´re paired.

Go got it.

But if you want to see a really amazing comment, assuming you have the citadel dlc, do bring javik and edi together in order to re-take the normandy. Javik cautioning a very distressed Edi to mind the airlock is priceless.

Javik and EDI on Citadel DLC are PRICELESS.  He also calls her "the EDI machine" which kills me every single time I hear it.

But there´s one thing that I find debatable. Edi and James being the best allies for an adept. I think Liara and Javik could be better. Kaidan too. Because you can trigger lots of biotic explosions.

If you play a sentinel, you could pair it with edi/tali (for tech explosions) and a biotic (kaidan/liara/javik) for biotic explosions. Since the sentinel is so versatile, you can even trigger tech and biotic combos one after the other. It´s quite impressive.

Mass Effect 3 can be played in so many different ways.
