I bought the Deluxe Edition when DA:I came out, now I was looking to to play the DLCs. The DLCs are turning out to be more expensive than just buying the GOTY Edition and I I can't see any Deluxe to GOTY upgrade and I don't want to own 2 copies of the game

/rant.

You probably won't, I would guess the base game would stay the same on your system and you'd just download the DLCs.

It's convoluted but that's how video games roll these days.  Watch out for the sales and get the GOTY with a discount so you can really save some cash.

I just purchased the GOTY digitally for this very reason.  I guess it means that I can give my copy away to a friend, but I was a bit miffed to find out that the DLC I hadn't purchased was the exact same price as the digital GOTY.

I followed the release stuff for Inquisition and decided not to get it, but then just recently I saw the Game of the Year edition for super cheap and decided to pick it up. It's a really good deal if you don't have it yet, but I guess kind of sucks if you do. I've heard multiple people now say they were just going to get/have gotten the GotY instead of the DLC individually. I guess a lot of pre-owned copies should be bouncing around soon. lol

20 bucks for everything the game has to offer is a steal.

Play on Nightmare to make sure it's worth every penny.

It would have to. The install folder is just "Dragon Age Inquisition" whether or not it's the GotY. Makes sense, since the GotY is just the base game with DLC download rights. It only looks different in Origin because they're different SKUs.

EA and bioware have generally been terrible at sales for their DLC.

If you don't get on and stay on the DLC money train from the beginning (e.g., Deluxe + Season Pass -- in general, if there is one), it's a sure bet the economics of game lifecycles will screw you.

I counter-ranted in the other thread, http://forum.bioware...2#entry20352355 , with the gist being: buying Deluxe and not buying every DLC when it comes out, or just one, very likely puts you in the smallest segment of their customer base. Put another way, the opportunity to sell GOTY to newcomers far outweighs the business they give up by not offering the Deluxe + no DLC segment a better option.
