Are we really sure it's a Krogan?

I believe there is a screenshot of the same scene where you can briefly see the character in the back. My guess is that the character is either human or asari judging by the look of the armor and the body. The non-distinctive shape of the legs rule out the character being salarian, turian or quarian.

Although for all we know, it might turn out to be a batarian since they have the most human-like body next to the asari. To be honest, I would not mind a batarian squadmate since I've wanted one for a long time.

The only way the turians can look better is if they gave them a body like Saren:

Krogans are looking fine indeed:

If that's a new species, I'm going to be pretty upset that it looks almost identical to a Krogan...

The head crest is clearly Krogan to me.

Unless it's an Andromeda race wearing a Krogan's head

They're probably hiding his face because they've made him so cute/gorgeous that it'll shock the fans. It's at that point we'll know he's a LI.

Maybe it's a female Krogan, never got to see under Bakara's hood thing, so maybe their heads are slightly different.

Considering most aliens in Mass Effect were completely identical next to eachother I don't mind some differences here and there such as horned krogan for example

Evolution, background radiation in space and a million other things can easily shape and change living organisms, over a timescale of 400-600 years of hyper light travel.

Here's an interesting video by the awesome channel VSauce ->

I wonder why he has a tribal armor.

Was he in Andromeda before we are?  Is it underdeveloped out there

I'm almost 100% sure that that is a krogan. It doesn't make much sense to design an entirely new race to fit the role that the Krogan - which are confirmed - already fill; which is hulking brute that walks on two legs and has a headplate.

I think it's the armour that makes you think otherwise. It's certainly unlike any previous armour in Mass Effect. It looks a little more barbaric. Maybe this krogan likes to collect trophies or something. Maybe his personal reason for going to Andromeda is so that he can earn even more wonderous, unique trophies (which he might wear on his armour). It's the type of thing I would expect from a krogan.

Spiritual Krogan

Will he use biotics in addition to being combat oriented

That's an intriguing possibility. We've basically seen the prototype of male warrior krogan with Wrex and Grunt, no matter if they were different variations of it, so female krogan might be the ideal twist to see a different side of their race.

A shaman would make sense actually.

it's obviously a Krogan. Like they're going to show new species yet.

They have shown both the new species actually. In the first trailer you can make out the silhouettes of the aliens attacking N7 guy, and they're new. It passes by so quickly that is easy to miss, but when that was first released there were people posting screenshots of every frame. It is a little easier to make out details in those. I believe the new teaser also showed a glimpse of the other new species.

In name?  Yes

In combat?  That could leave the squad unbalanced with so many biotic heavy types.

We already have our biotic Cora.  Knowing Bioware they'll give us an Asari squaddie.  That'd be 3 biotic focused squadmates.  Overkill imo

I'd prefer a Kro Sentinel type.  He could be a Shaman in name.  Perhaps a Shaman in training.

An Asari that sucks at Biotics but is a crack shot? If we get an Asari, there isn't any reason why it must be a biotic focused companion.

As for the rest of the shaman stuff, again, there is no reason why it must be a biotic. In a number of different cultures, shaman's have played some role in the spiritual side of it. Not once has a real life shaman managed to move something with his/her mind. A krogan shaman doesn't have to be any different.

Yeah, I have no idea from where the biotics connection is coming. The two Shamans we have met said nothing to indicate biotic ability is involved.

It's probably to do with other depictions of shamans in fantasy settings.

But yeah, there isn't anything to say that the various species must adhere to a certain image.

Turians for example, are seen as very good tacticians and fighters. Can we get a turian that doesn't even like the military?

Salarians are seen as very intelligent. Can we get one that does dumb **** on a regular basis?

We see these species in a particularly image. Andromeda is the chance to break those conventions.

An Asari who sucks at Biotics is still good at it compared to the general galactic population.

This is why I want a Turian Cabal Vanguard

She'll be a passionate brawler instead of a coolheaded sharpshooter like most Turians

What about an Asari that has a disability that affects her biotics, making them weaker and more difficult for her to grasp.

One, that would make her more interesting and separate her from other notable Asari. She'd be unique.

Two, this doesn't affect the lore of the Asari at all. It only adds to it. It further develops the Asari species.

Gotcha. I should've guessed. More ME3MP nonsense. Fun to play, horrific for lore. It cannot be taken seriously for lore.

Biotics are not magic, and Krogan Shamans are not magical spirit guides. A shaman could be a biotic. There could even be a Krogan tribe that required their shamans be biotics. In general, though, the two shouldn't be linked, logically.

That Asari in the trailer looked mildly disabled. ;)

I kid, I kid.

Well, not really, but let's not derail the thread. :)

I like this. A female krogan shaman squadmate? Basically a biotic tank, sounds cool.
