And you are basing this belief on what exactly?

Last I heard BioWare said the game was basically done and it is all polish from here.

Bioware says a lot of things, some which have not turned out as they have said.

Its a feeling after seeing what they had to offer in E3 of this year, basically nothing. No gameplay videos... really no info. Im just pessimistic about it.

OP is pessimistic and shares a view based on no data whatsoever.

Thanks for that...

(If 'possibly' had been used rather than 'probably', that might elicit more sympathy)

EA keeps a tight rein on game development. I read somewhere that Bio mgrs report/discuss game progress with EA often if not daily. The Bio studio will have to cut some features to meet the deadline, if further delays are prohibited.

If I recall, cutting content is a normal part of game development and a part of the process BioWare could soon be reaching with MEA.
Another reason why the E3 trailer was not more extensive, given 'Crestwood-gate'...

David Gaider spoke about this in his blog (now defunct) as DAI reached 6 months before launch [From Polygon article May 2014]:

"This [Pre-Alpha] is also the stage where most of the big cuts happen, since we can still create new content to deal with those cuts (as in "change the writing to accomodate a change in the story flow"). Once we hit Alpha, cuts are generally things that are simply excised in their entirety, without any ability to really work around them for the sake of logic or flow."

"Likewise, the game's writers are now moving on from creating the game's voiced dialogue and are developing "non-VO text," including codex entries, item and talent descriptions and GUI text."

"Still, we have to handle all bugs that come our way, and be responsive to any cuts that are occurring. This is a pretty stressful time for everyone," continues Gaider. "Every cut feels like it's reducing the overall quality of the game, until there are so many of them you feel like you're producing a piece of crap-until you remind yourself that every game goes through this, and the alternative is shipping late or not at all."

More positively, the fact that MEA's release slipped to Spring 2017 instead of 'Holiday 2016', back in May (6 months before the original release), could indicate a decision to ship late (Spring 2017) rather than cut excessive content. That would also be consistent with Mac's assertion that the game is mostly polishing, because they have more time to polish the aspects that would otherwise have been cut.

Trust? Who actually trusts game developers? Would you tell them your dirty little secrets?

The "more info" by the end of the year will include the release date I think (assuming they'll show something by the end of the year obviously). I was thinking maybe between march and may 2017. But that's me.

I wonder what people like you would've done 15 years ago. Reveal half a year before release, a month or week before release first gameplay or magazines giving information about the game with pictures. You would have just stood in the store in front of the retail copy and said "I've never heard of this game, it's probably not even finished".

Maybe - I'd base that on the fact they aren't showing gameplay-footage (if the game really only needs "polishing" than they would proudly show it off - then again: They might do so at GamesCom (E3 is important, but GamesCom is equally important, if not more!))

Still, I haven't given up hope (one the other hand: Them playing is so close to their chest makes me cautious and weary, the Fallout 4 devs at Bethesda did the same: They showed cool trailers (with great music, got to give them that - IMHO Bioware is trying to jump on that train, I mean look at the first trailer with that ghost-riders song!), made lofty promises etc. and in the end didn't keep them (the game is almost as bad as ME3 -.- and that's saying something IMHO!)...hell, they've done so before with ME3 -.-)

Fine, go ahead and expect it.  Your own pessimism is your own problem; and has no bearing on anything that might or might not happen.  Since you have no actual data to base your statement on and no purpose behind it other than to spread yet more feelings of "doom and gloom" on this website, you should change your account name to "Chicken Little"

I'd also consider the possibility that Bioware just doesn't want to show gameplay footage that this point.  No "law" that says they have to just to passify you and the OP.

I bet we won't even have a gameplay trailer before Q1 2017. If they come guns blazing at PAX all credit to them but history tells us that is unlikely. I'm expecting a full reveal at next E3 along with the official release date; probably holiday '17.

If they can do better than that then I will be in the fortunate position of being pleasantly surprised. This talk of polishing is demonstrably false by the lack of demonstrable progress and communication with media or fans.

They've been given one extension. I don't foresee a second extension. I think they'll be expected to make the game work within the current release window. We don't even have a release date, yet, just a financial expectation EA has for BioWare to meet.

I expect we will be playing Mass Effect Andromeda, for better or worse, before April 2017 (assuming March 31 is indeed the final day of their fiscal quarter, as is often claimed.)

This would be an unprecedented delay for an EA product, wouldn't it?

I'm really not sure what to think...

My gut is telling me we'll most likely be hearing about another delay.  If that's the case, well...so be it.  Yes, it would be extremely disappointing, but I'd prefer they take their time rather than rush the release with a buggy and/or unfinished game.

But on the other hand, if they really are on track for a Q1 2017 release and are just trying to "play it safe", then I personally think the short BTS teaser for EA Play / E3 was a very bad and disappointing decision. :(

Hype and overall excitement for the game should be at a high at this point, and steadily gaining momentum.  The forums should be alive and bursting with that excitement, enthusiasm, and discussion about new info that had been revealed, how great the gameplay looks, solid teasers about certain features of the game, the story, the characters, etc.  But instead, the forums are flooded with threads like these.  And I mean no offense to the OP, as it's obvious this is a question that's on a lot people's minds right now.  It's just that this should not be happening right now if the game really is pretty much done and just in need of final polishing...

I'm still looking forward to it very much (and confident they'll eventually give us an amazing game), but after seeing their offering for EA Play / E3, I have to admit that a lot of my excitement has been considerably dampened... for now.

While I agree with what you are saying, I think the problem for BioWare is they know no matter what they do they are going to leave people disappointed. Personally if I was in their position I would pick the position of disappointing people for the shortest amount of time. My guess is that a lot of people will no longer be disappointed if in a couple of months if they were to release a more in-depth trailer then get hyped about the game now and when it is released it doesn't live up to the videos we saw at E3 for we still occasionally hear about how BioWare disappointed people with the Crestwood video for Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Yes, how silly of me to not read a bunch of doom and gloom into absolutely nothing but unfounded speculation. What am I thinking?

Tell me, then, what evil scheme is BioWare hoping to achieve with this cunning lie?

These boards have never been like that, though.

As someone who's pretty much hype-immune himself, I don't really get how this hype thing is supposed to work. By next November when things really kick up, how many people would have been in a different place because they'd seen a gameplay trailer five months ago? I'd barely remember what it looked like.
