I'm working a new game project and I'm looking for feedback before I make the list live. I'm building a compilation of games that use companion characters/pets. This list is for weird people like me and like some of you that enjoy playing games with a companion co-op, team support, or party system.  Unlike some other lists, mine is going to be designed with more user feedback on actual features and not just complaints and superficial opinions on gameplay.

I've started the base of the list. The first link is to the Submission Form that allows gamers to enter in a game that does not exist on the list. The second link takes the gamers to the list. I'm looking for feedback on additional questions to ask or constructive criticism. I thought of adding in a Ratings System for the games AI button that's a bit more task-intensive than I'm willing to invest right now. You're welcomed to play around with the data entry but please put the word "Test" in with title so that I can easily erase non-valid entries.

Wish I could be of more help, but just wanted you to know that I am floored you were able to come up with 73 different consoles/gaming systems! Is Nintellivision(or however it's spelled) a separate system as well?

Yes it is:

Spoiler

All the platforms listed can be found online. I just went through and sorted them out by the date of their release.

Intellivision...  I played Astrosmash for hours...  everything else sucked.   I don't recall there being anything like companion pets on any game system until the 2000s.  You could say that the food that chased you around in Burger Time were companion pets you got to eat (if they didn't eat you first)

I liked Intellivision. They had some game about making hamburgers that was fun. I like all the games we had for it actually.

So you are looking for feedback on what exactly? You don't want actual submissions? I think there are more party based/AI games than the 4 you have listed.

Burger Time! lol. I was a bit harsh wasn't I? They didn't suck at the time i suppose, they were all overshadowedby the arcades pretty quickly though.  The first real rpg arcade multiplayer was Gauntlet (Player needs Quarters badly). You could make a case for other players being companion pets, but i'd say that may be stretching it (Guild Masters seem to take that approach).  I played M&M on a 386...  then Doom...  I never did play Ultima, but I'd imagine that game may have had companion pets/familiars but  I really can't think of any old school games that did.  Not to say there weren't any.

If you want to talk WoW.. I have 415 of 765 total pets...

To this day when I get hungry I will say, "Autumn needs food badly" in that voice. Only the kewlist people get the reference BTW

lol Of course there are more than 4. I have 300 games that are ready to be keyed in. There's no point in keying them in yet if I'm still changing the layout.

People with access can start entering data if they want. However I trying to finalize the questionaire first before going public with it. I'm looking for additional questions or metrics to look out for. There are many genres that exist and some statistics may be more important to other people than what I currently have listed (or not listed). For example "ADS-Aware" applies almost exclusively to shooters. It is important to gamers that the A.I. are not standing in their sights when they are using a ranged weapon. Some games build AI to move when the MC is aiming. Some games are really good about it, others are poor. RE6 is much better handling this than RE5. RE4 however has no ADS-awareness.

As to the directive of this research I'm not sure if I supplied what you were looking for. I would do a few more games in this way, but here's the thoughts I had. I chose to review Shining Force which i played for Sega Genesis. It was a tactical RPG in which MC has control of all attained characters, in which case we will call them 'pets' here. Some actually are pets like Domingo and Bleu, but most are humanoid/elven/dwarven/centaurion, etc. I'm recalling what I remember, circling my mind back to the early 1990's. For this particular game, it wasn't very AI advanced but battles were strategical. The enemies were all AI or lets call them linear preprogrammed to make more sense. In other words, AI to me means having variables, or multiple algorithms affecting movements/decisions. The enemies weren't this advanced, but just as in a game of chess, certain characters would stand ground or move depending on where you placed your characters. So the only difficulties I had in answering pertained to A.I. questions in which I just gave it my best answer. To sum up, if single player RPG games with companions are some of what you're looking for, I would do a few that are similar before the world of MMORPG came to prominence.
