Has anyone ever done a playthrough where they rejected every 'optional' companion from joining the Inq, and positioned things so Cassandra is chosen as Divine by the end of the base game? If she's chosen, you have that conversation where you can prevent her from ever being in your party again. So...with Solas leaving after Corypheus, Cass being forced into retirement, and everyone else turned down...would that mean your only selectable party member by Trespasser is Varric? A 50% strength team could make nightmare mode Trespasser play even more challenging.
Have Googled this extensively, and found nothing on it. Understandably, closing yourself off from so much story is not a desirable course of action. Still, I was morbidly curious if this is possible. If no one else knows, I might just try it during a particularly masochistic phase.
Trespasser: Just you and Varric?

Divine Cassandra and Dorian (even if not recruited/sent away) will join you for Trespasser.
But anyway, you do know that you can choose not to take any party members with you no matter the quest you're doing, right?

Huh, okay. And yes, I did/do.

I've done that. And as posted above, Divine Cassandra and Dorian will join the Inquisitor in the dlc.

What would be the challenge would be playing Descent or JoH in the post-game with only Varric, which I assume would be the result of this method.
You can tell Divine Cassandra that you don't need her when she asks to go on an adventure, Solas leaves, and you can remove or refuse everyone else, save Varric.
Skyhold would seem pretty damn empty.
