I´d really like to see space battles in the mass effect universe where we are allowed to controle a fighter or even the tempest.

Unfortunatly i´ve heared in a review the maco will be the only controlable vehicle.

Any chance to get a DLC later on, that introduces space battle?

What do you guys think?

Yeah, the Mako will be the only driveable vehicle in this game.

I've read somewhere (source and whether it's legit: unknown) that they were thinking of other vehicles but couldn't get them just right, so it might be something they're working on. Who knows if we'll see it in a future DLC or next Mass Effect game.

I always loved space battles and would really like to have the option on MEA (but I'm sadly sure it will not be possible, even on a dlc).

ME3 always give me chills when you see all the different fleets coming from the entire galaxy for fighting the reapers together~

It has been confirmed by Mac Walters at E3 that the Mako is the only vehicle we can control in Andromeda.  If they add it as a DLC it would be a DLC I avoid since I don't think it would contain the elements that I would enjoy in gaming.

As a DLC? I don't think so. If they don't plan to add that feature in the base game, then they probably wont add it at all. Maybe on a future title.

"Getting it right", in terms of gameplay, could require a huge investment in development resources. It's completely different from what they usually do, and from what the rest of the game is. (This time around, they are already wrestling with an engine that's completely new to many of them, and not "old hat" to any of them.)

I've played fighter pilot games, both space and airplane, that sucked, and they were developed to be what they were. I can totally understand why BioWare has never bothered with this. It's simply not worth the investment and the distraction from the rest of the game, from the more important stuff. It's all risk and no reward. If it turned out well, people would be pleased, and that would be that. If it wasn't great, they'd never hear the end of it. It's not worth their time and effort.

Unless they are building a whole Space-Sim for ME:A, flying the Tempest will be pointless and boring. A lot of people would hate it because flying in atmosphere and landing a ship isn't that easy and would create enormous frustrations with many players.

You either create an Elite:Dangerous like simulation or non at all. Everything in between would like riding a horse in DA:I.

I'd like that, too - and additionally I'd like some more variety when it comes to ground vehicles (note: I am counting the Kodiak-Shuttle here, too because using that to explore planets sounds even more logical than the MAKO...I mean why drive if you can fly (and if something is hostile: The Kodiak is armed, too after all, so rain down fire on the "heathens" who dared to fire on us!)) like reall MBTs, that hover-tank from ME2 etc. etc. :)

I don't think EA does space battles.

If they did, they would have put them in Star Wars Battlefront where they belonged....

Would a Star Trek Bridge Crew like Spacebattle be fun? Adjusting energy distribution, choosing maneuver? Giving commands while being attacked instead of flying the ship itselve?

Space battles? Homie, we cant even get good hair options.

Seriously though, I've always thought the ship to ship battle system from Skies of Arcadia would be perfect for Mass Effect.

Both Mac and rumors say that Mako is going to be the only controllable vehicle in the game but I also read about space battles being included on the same Reddit post. Maybe they are something similar to ME2's sky-car chase mission on Illium but this time space setting, auto-pilot, shoot other ships and etc., like that.

ME2_Lair_of_the_Shadow_Broker_Car_Chase.

Or it could be a DLC/PvP thing. Happened with SW:TOR. Though there were space missions from the start, BioWare introduced a new expansion pack called Galactic Starfighter which is completely PvP space combat.

Imo, Mass Effect could use some space combat stuff.
