So far in the limited footage we have seen we have seen barren planets and garden worlds we will probably end up colonizing but we are going to be coming into contact with alien civilizations that will probably vary from hostile to friendly and everything in between. That means we should be seeing some of their worlds and possibly space stations. In the original trilogy we had the citadel, omega, and Illium. I am hoping we see something along those lines in Andromeda. Of course I don't expect to run into anything that was scale of the citadel but I would like to see some alien hub stations and worlds.

I'd hope so, I'd also love to see some wrecks (of designed either by the remnants or by other unknowns!) and derelict stations etc.
(also intact ones...finding a working remnant ship would be nice (could probably learn much from it!))

Agreed, if anything we should see a lot more stuff laying around since I imagine Andromeda would have more ancient civilizations with more of their ruins in tact since they probably didn't have anything like the Reapers cleaning house every 50,000 years or so. I also expect the galaxy to be more densely populated with alien civilizations due to the fact that they didn't have some external force preventing them from flourishing. Now that I think about it, Andromeda has the potential to shame the Milky Way when it comes to potential. The Milky Way civilizations were completely influenced and held in check by the Reapers. The civilizations could be all over the place in Andromeda. That hurts my Milky Way pride.

According to the early leak, pursuit of Remnant tech is a major part of the game. Exploring their "vaults" is the mechanic by which we attain this tech.

Since this "has" to be the fringe of the Andromeda... I imagine it's basically some space station and maybe a small colony or two. Good way to show a race without needing to reveal too much of their culture right off the bat.
If there's an actual homeworld out here... you can forget colonizing.

We saw some settlements in the concept art. I'm sure we will be visiting such places in the game. This is the type of thing I'd rather not have spoiled in previews. I want to see and hear it for the first time in-game and in-character.
I get your motivation but it would be nice knowing that we will be seeing something other than uncharted worlds. A quick screenshot with no other information would be nice.

Who said anything about colonizing homeworlds or even settled worlds? Just visiting them. We will probably be needing to set up political alliances and trade agreements so visiting these settled alien worlds would make sense.

@KotorEffect3: So you think Earth would let someone settle in Sol space?
I simply mean that if something like their homeworld is near where we're looking... these garden worlds would already be claimed. There's no way they'd let us settle there. A space faring species would have a large swath of stars around their homeworld explored and off limits.

Which is why we would be negotiating with them. I never said anything about setting up shop in their back yard but it would be advantageous for them to maybe cozy up to the newcomers to shift the balance of power in that region in their favor. For instance they know that region of Galaxy better than we would and they could point us in the right direction if we are looking for worlds to colonize, and we could maybe give them technology they don't have in exchange for supplies.

I hope so as well OP. I really liked the big city hubs, such as Illium. I mean, I am all for exploring uncharted worlds as a core gameplay mechanic but visiting one or two settled worlds would be a nice change of pace ans well as scenery and it would provide great contrast to what we usually do (and thus make the uncharted worlds have even more of a frontier feeling).
It would also be interesting to see the designs they come up with. The milky way cities in the trilogy all looked pretty similar (Earth, Illium, Thessia, etc.) which was fine because those cultures knew each other and would influence each other in terms of art and architecture. However, if we just arrived in Andromeda and the societies there should have evolved completely independently and have a very unique and different style, then the devs basically would have the freedom to come with anything they want.

@KotorEffect3: Or... the vastly superior (in numbers) species could simply take our ships after we all starve and study the tech and not have to worry about six new sapient species to form diplomacy with.
I believe it would be better to run into fringe groups... then, once the MW races have something to actually offer and can put up more than just a nuisance of a fight... then meet their homeworlds and "Council" whatever that's going to end up being.

You act like I am talking about parking the Arks over their homeworlds or something, stop making assumptions. We will be in charge of the Tempest, that is one ship. We will be visiting different worlds as we look for resources and worlds to colonize. Over the course of doing so we are bound to run into alien civilizations and settled regions. We are bound to at the very least see some regional trading hubs. The arks will be tucked away from where we will be.
Edit: I just reread your posts. In that case I am in agreement. We would not be flying into the heart of anyone's territory (at least deliberately) I am just saying we would be interacting with them in one way or another and we would be trying to negotiate with them if they are on the reasonable side. And we would be probably visiting a trade hub (not the main hub just regional hubs) Though I would like to see the big places eventually maybe later in the game if we can get ourselves more established.

Yes, I believe your hope is coming true. We can speculate from these two paragraphs, posted in REDDIT in 2015:
- You are a pathfinder, a combat trained but un-tested explorer leading an expedition into the Helius cluster to establish a new home for humanity.
- As you explore this sprawling series of solar systems (over 4x the size of Mass Effect 3), collecting resources and building colonies, you will encounter the savagery of untamed lands in the form of cut-throat outlaws and warring alien races. To survive and colonize the wild reaches of space, you will need to grow your arsenal, your ship, your crew and make strategic (and often uneasy) alliances to fight against increasingly menacing foes.
Image reveals of alien architecture:
If you recall, in November 2014, the studio revealed 7 images of possible alien locations, in the cluster. They are concept art but the concepts do find their way into the game in one form or another. Plus: "We are definitely developing new species, new alien races and because of that these new species, these new aliens do have their own architecture."

I always thought they could have turned Omega into a hub after we kicked cerberus out of there. People were also saying Thessia could have been a hub before the reapers hit it since they didn't hit it until late in the game.

Totally agree - even if it's "just colonies" or "just a space station on the fringe" it can still be plenty huge and provide a lot to see and do.
After all - look at Omega.

Yup we should at the least be hearing of the rise and fall of vast empires and ancient trading routes. Ling lost civilizations, fortune and glory.
And vibrant cities full of things to do and see and hear about.

I hope there are populated areas. I found the cities like Illium, Omega, and the Citadel way more interesting than the barren planets. Mass Effect is all about interaction and I can't interact with people if I'm in the middle of nowhere where nobody lives.

Good luck running into anything that hasn't been mass-murdered in an organic-synthetic war.

What if that translates to more interactions with your companions?
Instead of wasting time talking to bartender #2 for ten lines... what if those ten lines were used to build your relationship with your companions while out in this horribly lonesome wilderness?
I mean... do you "really" start a conversation with every grocery clerk, gas attendant, mailman you see?

Yeah i would like to see that but i would love to see something huge and technologically advanced like the citadel but in a much bigger scale so that i get the feel of being so vulnerable when i play and just be completely blown away like when we first see the citadel in ME 1

Yes I would like to see something like Coruscant City from Star Wars , also I would like to see some places with specific architecture like Qo'nos the Klingon's homeworld from Star Trek or Vulcan City , also some tropical paradise like Betazoid or Risa would be nice too ![]()
But my biggest wish is to see some water planet and some underwater civilisation like Hanar's homeworld.
