Well I happen to prefer my custom Shepard, so...take that!
I'm happy that you like your custom Shepard.
For me every custom Shep looks the same.

Default male Shepard used an actual face model that they scanned to get every detail just right (even the small scar at the start of the hairline that the model has). That's why characters like certain NPCs and squadmates look so unique because most have face models. Kaidan, Liara, Samara, Jack are a few that had scans like default male Shepard.
If you want to make a comparison, at least use it in the same lighting and angle.

(or the same gender... )
But the only major differences is Default BroShep is a real person.

However, I don't fancy the idea Shepard that is a male supermodel who is more beautiful than all of his custom combined.
also, Vanderloo no longer look like his youthful self... albeit more sun damaged and hairy.

Well at least now we know what high ems destroy Shepard will look like in his retirement years.
Probably to prevent people from associating him with those creepy drawings of him having gay sex with aliens that you find in the Mass Effect section of Deviantart!
Somehow, I feel bad for the female models as well. I think its one of the reason why Yvonne never like to associate herself with the franchise anymore.
You guys think they will still scan faces this time around?

ya her face came out kinda froggy and rough looking. chobots face came out great though.
Tried making custom Sheps but abandoned the attempts as they just ended up looking like some Cerberus lab alien/human hybrid gone wrong. Although in the Dragon Age series I found I could always make a reasonably decent looking character.
