I think the 'twist' is just marketing lingo for not finalized yet.
Except the thing is Roy is a studio director so market speech wouldn't naturally come to him. For him, it likely means a plot twist of some kind.Another possibility i haven't come up with 'til now is maybe you start off as either parent who get lost early on with the other then, when fem/maleRyde wake up, they're look is a composit of both your custom parent and the default for the other parent.

Face scanning isn't something readily available on PC. Unless it means "taking a photo and pasting it over as a face texture".

What's with the aversion to a face scan feature? I don't get it. Can any of you present a logical argument against it being in the game? It wouldn't affect your game experience in any way, and it's not like it would replace the character creator. It would be an option for the players who want to use it. Would it make those of you who are against a face scan feature feel better if BioWare added a Face Scan Toggle© along with it?
Darn quote box won't quote but I agree with the poster who said they'd use multi custom faces to show off pre set Ryder possibilities.
I'd think something like this. It would be a way to show off the customization potential showing new female hero's with new faces but now that its confirmed the woman at the end of the trailer who looks like an Ashley relative it could be confusing whose the lead. Switching hero looks worked in DAI precisely because they were different species I don't think the same would be useful with one human only if they did 1 male and 1 female trailer would this work and then each character shown that will be the default faces for marketing going forward.
Now her face is out there I think they should stick with it for better or worse and keep making trailers showing her but doing so in a way that does a better job at showing us she's the protagonist and hero of the story she definitely needs to be prominate in both action and non action sequences. Currently I was under the impression she was the LI as she appeared in such a non heroic way at the end of the trailer we saw more of the male attacking leading you to think this faceless dude was the lead then her. Now that BW actually said so vocally she's the hero that's great but it needs to be made more clear for the next several trailers.
But now that I said Ash relative maybe that's it maybe this is Ash's sister or one of them that could be neat too.

Honestly, because it's a feature that sounds okay (at best), but winds up being just another boondoggle that spends effort best used elsewhere. Like learning how to do hair. And no, twenty variations of "shaved head" does not count, Bioware.

The go to logical argument for not including something is always "No, they shouldn't waste their resources on this feature that you value and want, they should instead spend it on this feature I value and want and that also happens to be objectively superior." I'm not aversed to the idea of face scan I just wouldn't be hyped by it either. And I'm sure they wouldn't replace CC with face scan anyway so there'd always be a toggle. I hope they wouldn't anyway.
Some of us dont like our face atm, for me with stage 4 cancer i look like an extra on walking dead. To busy trying to live to they release the damn thing.

Obviously you need a camera. Look here, there is a mobile app called GameFaceHD. You take a mug shot of yourself and use it in-game.

If a simple app can do it with some EA Sports title(s), I don't see why it cannot be done on a PC or transfer the file to a PC and have the game import it. For that matter, you can do it with the XBone1 too:

It's taking away from the MP.
Has anyone checked if in BW employment is someone who look like this "main character" (because of confidentiality reasons). If not... I don't think it's a face scan option.
I don't know if you seen NBA 2k's face scanning tech, but lets just say...it doesn't work. 
I'm a bit considered about this so-called "twist" and also excited on what this could mean for plot sake.
