This is an attempt to apply a little more analysis to the question 'when will we see more stuff'?

It is based on two assumptions:

  1. That MEA will drop in February 2017
(Because EA's financial year ending March 2017 will have it budgeted in) [See Reference 1 below]

  2. That MEA will follow a similar marketing launch to DAI.
I assume that EA will co-ordinate marketing centrally. [See Reference 2 below]

So, I'm expecting trailers and demos to drop similarly to DAI:

  • Environmental trailer 7 months ahead (It just dropped 8 months ahead at EA Play)
  • Gameplay trailer at around the 5-6 month mark [August/September]
  • Further gameplay trailer around the 4 month mark [October]
  • Demos around 3 months out [November]
  • Mixture of information videos and character cinematics in the 8 weeks pre-launch [2017]

Will these be linked to conferences?

I think in 2016 yes, because it's about awareness. With a Spring launch you want your game in people's mind before the holidays 2016. Marketing will also want some 'best of show' gongs for their launch marketing. There are no Jan/Feb conferences of major significance.

  • Gamescom 17 Aug is a little early but it's too big to ignore - A gameplay trailer is probable.
  • Pax West (Seattle) 2 Sept could be the one for gameplay if Gamescom was too early. (They could do both)
  • GaymerX 30 Sept is an inevitable attendance, and it could drop a character trailer.
  • Pax Australia OR Montreal Games Sumit 4 / 13 Nov - A significant Demo should drop around now, I'd bet Montreal as it's local.

Do you think these assumptions or conference proposals make sense?

I think MEA will be a huge deal for EA's financial year projections. We know how much of an issue revenue recognition is when it comes to content release.

March 31 is surely a hard date by which MEA must be coming out. EA are projecting c.$5b revenue in 2015/16, making pre-orders even more important for a game hitting at the tail of a Financial Year. Personally, I'd expect an earlier release (late February) so that they can capitalise on a sufficient sales window for MEA. My guess: February 21 US, February 24 Europe.

This is what DAI did, I'd expect a similar approach:

i hope they show less things then dragon age inquisition, or that andromeda got more main missions and less watered down side content which takes up most of the actual play time

Well, Sofajockey, you put some thought into you're projection. I certainly hope the development process allows for a February release. That's a bit earlier than I'm anticipating, but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed.

Yeah, I'd kind of prefer they start about six months out, giving us info on one companion and one class per month.

Companions are the kind of innocent knowledge that lets us understand parts of the story without ruining the plot.  Plus, only six reveals still leaves them a window to keep one or more of our teammates a secret.

Classes allow them to showcase gameplay while also giving us the information we need to plan our character and get hyped for the game.

Any other information (short of minor things like how navigation will work, how the Mako drives, etc.) is probably something I would rather be kept a mystery to be discovered on my own.

Whenever EA's mystics determines that the time is "right" but don't worry they have Top men working on it.

Top men.

Different team or not, I expect ME:A to be like DA: I.

Flynn said the game comes in spring 2017. That's march, april or may right?

If they didn't have gameplay at E3, of all places, I worry about Andromeda's development. Inquisition had gameplay, ME3 had gameplay, ME2 had gameplay, and I'm sure DA2 had gameplay there. Andromeda not having footage beyond a few seconds of the Mako says to me that things aren't all roses at Bioware right now.

But they revealed too much on those games. They want to surprise us. They believe the less we know the better. The hype rises. It's true.

You've put some effort into it OP and it has sense. Though I personally think that spring is an optimistic date.

Whenever EA's mystics determines that the time is "right" but don't worry they have Top men working on it.

Top men.

Pretty sure some little innocent gamestudio is being tied to EA's altar as we speak.

Almost certainly March because of EA's fiscal year. Unless EA makes so much money from other stuff that they're beating projections and would rather shift the revenue to the next year, but that sort of stunt's more typical of a bureaucratic organization where you're trying to manipulate upper management.

Yesterday, Mac Walters tweeted out something to the effect of "no news until N7 Day". So there's your answer, OP.

Actually, spring starts in March 21st.  So, if we believe that it is coming out in the spring and the fourth quarter financial year's predictions, it'll come out 21-31st.

According to a recent interview they're basically not showing new stuff until the next N7 day.

http://www.eurogamer...e-of-me3-ending

"There's definitely more stuff we could have shown or talked about," Flynn replied. "But now we're shipping next spring, the time to really blast all that out there is after the other games come out. We'll be there then to have a great big reveal and release all the details."

BioWare has since confirmed that we won't see more of Andromeda now until next November, and the franchise's annual N7 Day celebrations.

Don't know where the interviewer got that info exactly, but there you have it.

urgh my patience is running thin.  Had to keep hearing about inferior franchises at e3 that did show their gameplay.  I need gameplay.  Too bad we don't have cryo in real life.  I would just cryo myself until next spring.

They say they'll show a lot this N7 Day.

Then again they said they would show a lot at EA Play and yet did not. Or the previous N7 Day and yet did not.

At this rate, I'm expecting to see more clips of devs tapping things on screens spliced in with some pre-rendered scenes on a snow planet. And at the end, amidst the snow, the words "Holiday 2017" emerge.

The way things have been going it wouldn't surprise me.  I want to see gameplay footage, I want to see the combat systems in action.  I want to see how dialog is handled.  I want a peek at how customization and leveling works.  I want to see the mako in action.  What I don't want to see is some guy working at his computer.

Perhaps due to the rampant bullshit they peddled in the build up to Inquisition rightly biting them in the arse, they've decided to keep their cards closer to their chest until the game is sufficiently polished to allow it to do its own talking.

I'd take what they did with DAI over what they are doing with MEA any day.

At least with DAI we saw some actual gameplay when they were marketing it and showing demos.   What they need to realize is the earlier they show gameplay footage the more time they will have to respond to feedback and make adjustments.
