It always bugged me why we didn't get DNA from Javik to make more Protheans, the technology certainly exists and it prevents a race that was extinct from going extinct again. Not to mention Javik did not fulfill what we needed as a Prothean.

But that's beside the point, how would you guys feel about Protheans in Andromdea?

This same thread already exists. I believe the title is even the same. It's probably on page 2.

Edit: The tile is "Are the Remnant Actually Protheans?". It sounds different, but it isn't.

In Mass Effect Andromeda 2 there will be an Protheon because that is the limits of Bioware's imagination.

Protheans like to conquer the galaxy and make all other races their slaves. Why clone them?

I don't want Protheans anywhere near Andromeda. I couldn't stand Javik, so I don't want more of him.

Same goes with their technology. I don't want the Arks to be yet another Prothean project we discover and use.

I really feel that Protheans were a part of the ME1-3 story rather than being part of the ME setting. Although we are keeping key parts of the setting, the story will be all new.

If Protheans appear in Andromeda in any significant fashion, there's truly no hope.

If there is a good back story I think it would be cool. They could be a group of Prothean scientists that were able to put themselves into stasis pods and have a VI like Vigil in a ship that took them to Andromeda. They could be thousands or millions of Protheans in Andromeda. But I doubt they will include the Protheans in Andromeda.

In Andromeda we are trying to create our own path and, if the leaks are to be believed, we will be looking for Remnant technology. So basically the Remnant race will be taking the place of the Protheans.

As much as I like Javik, I'd rather he remain the last of his species.

I love Javik, but he (and his entire race) were defined by the Reapers. Plus Javik was the only one, and pulling one out of a Deus Ex Machina is silly. I want the Arks to be tech created by the Milky Way species, maybe based up recovered Sovereign Tech, but mostly brand new stuff. No Crucible v2 please.

Protheans are dead, they served their purpose and it is now time to move forward.

Doesn't make sense. I hope the Remnant, if they're aren't extinct, menacing.

Really? Of all the things Mass Effect-related, this has always bugged you?

Why would we make more Protheans?

Well, they'd have a hard time doing that without an industrial base, without any of their fancy technology and without the numbers to really fight anybody - we wouldn't make millions of them after all, we'd just make enough to keep them from going extinct - it would be just sad to let this chance slip by us (their race certainly is interesting IMHO!)

ps: I'd love to have them in Andromeda (but maybe not as one of the ruling species), as it would show we aren't the only ones who thought about fleeing the Reapers (I mean we know that the Protheans came up with a lot of contingency plans - like the stasis-pods and they also tried making the crucible of course (silly plot-device that it is!))

Salarians can clone kakliosaurs and Cerberus clones an entire human, but they don't clone the last remaining prothean, who literally stands in the embassies letting the entire public know what he is???

I was freaking out. They NEED to clone him!!! AAARRGGHH

I would find that kind of realistic considering Javik was meant to be the last living Prothean and plus pretty much all the Protheans were re-purposed by the reapers as the collectors so it seems highly improbable

Nah. Let Javik be the last. Protheans in Andromeda would just cheapen his character. Besides, how do you follow an act like that?

If we can make it to Andromeda, why can't the Protheans? Or any other previous race for that matter.

I wouldn't have a problem if they're in Andromeda. Javik was great.

Cloning isn't really a functional way to propagate a species. There are hypothetical ways to get around that but it's all basically space magic.

Javik wasn't great because he was the last prothean, he's great because he's the alien equivalent of Clint Eastwood telling the primitives to get off his lawn.
