Will then Tempest have a shuttle as well?

I imagine most of the game will be like ME 1 in the sense that whenever we go planet side somewhere we will be dropped off in the mako but I would still like for there to be a shuttle on the Tempest in order to reach those types of terrains or environments where the mako is just not going to work.  I know it won't be controllable and just be used mostly for cutscenes but I still liked having them.

Edit:  It should say the instead of then in the thread title but I guess it can't be edited once posted.

Bruh, you probably saw it in the E3 trailer.  1:21 in.

Possibly, but probably not. The Tempest seems to be smaller than the Normandy and can land on planets so for the enviornments you are talking about the Tempest may just be used.

If we had a shuttle we wouldnt need a mako. I thought the firewalker beat the mako any day.

You mean the Kodiak? That was the only shuttle we ever had.

The Firewalker DLc gave us the Hammerhead, which wasn't a shuttle but a IFV like the Mako.

We have a good sense already with some of the images in the trailer.

I believe he meant to say that he preferred the Hammerhead, obtained via the "Project Firewalker" DLC, to the Mako.

I believe that it was told somewhere that Tempest is even bigger than Normandy...

Nope. That was never said. If you read that, it was just another fan talking.

I liked the firewalker. with our new mako we don't need the shuttle. As for the Tempest well..... we really don't know. Id hope it's a big as SR 2. I hate small ships.

I doubt they would have a since the mako is there, but who knows?

It looks like the Tempest would be bigger since it seems longer then the Normandy, but who knows?

I'd love it for another reason, too (but my hope will probably be in vain, again!):

I'd want to be able to either leave the ship under the command on a companion (who will do his/her own mission - while I do mine, with a switch between two teams who are acting more or less simultaniously!) or send the shuttle (or shuttles, the SR2 had two shuttles (or at least room for two!) after all) out on missions (maybe back to get reinforcements etc. too!)

Also - but they aren't giving us that either (Mako only -.-): I'd want to use the shuttle to scout a planet (why drive if you can FLY?) and I want to fly the shuttle MYSELF! (use the guns, land whenever and wherever I want etc. etc.)

I hope the ship is bigger - with more to discover, with the crew having more lines (you couldn't talk to everybody after all!) and dialogue (why not let us do stuff to improve crew loyalty and performance - as long as it's not thousands of fetch-quests) - if it's more exploration than combat vessel (I hope it still has the stealth-system - not that that was that great: The Collectors and the Reapers could crack that without problems -.-) it's hopefully at least as comfortable as the SR-2 (didn't like the first Normandy that much and I've always wanted a CRUISER instead of a FRIGATE...I also hated the "refit"...damned guys don't fix what ain't broken -.-)

Potentially - it would be useful - but we've seen a lot of shots of the Tempest just straight up landed on planets in a way that even the original shuttle-less SR1 pretty much never was (I think she got parked on Virmire, briefly, but still sorta just kept hovering?) so I think there's a decent chance we'll just have the Mako, with the Tempest herself doing all the shuttle stuff.

Skyodtu.jpgThere's also this shot of the Mako being driven out from under the Tempest - or, at least, that's what it looks like to me - which, I suspect, is how we'll generally be arriving on planets:

In the above shots, and especially in a few similar frames, you can see the comparative size between Tempest and human figures. I believe those shots are part of the reason people feel Tempest may be more of a Corvette than a Frigate. (There's also the fact that it seems to be doing a lot of surface landings, of course.)

Either way, regardless of comparative size and regardless of whether we have a shuttle, I like that we will be landing Tempest. I really look forward to landing her and walking out onto these worlds, or rolling out in the Mako (which I wish they'd rename).

Would have been nice to have a gunship / shuttle cross as the exploration vehicle. Dropping sticky loads on foreigners and burning oil fields is fun.

(maybe we can identify as a gunship as well...)

I think that Tempest itself will be some kind of "shuttle" to an Ark.

Yeah, I think everyone is in agreement on that. The Ark is home, until viable colonies are established.

This reminds me of the ending of ACIV:Black Flag, when Edward is explaining the difference between a boat and a ship to his 7yo daughter. She observes that if the ability to carry another vessel aboard makes a ship a ship, every boat in the world is actually a ship, excluding her toy boat she plays with in the bath. The Arks look like giant ships.
