"Generic humans"? I like my human crew, being a human myself. [Edit: I'm not big on the romance arcs, so this isn't huge for me, but my protag won't get down with weird ass aliens. That's nasty. So, no humans means no romance side content, for me. Again, minor loss, but still...]
I'm sure they will leave room for new aliens. They kind of know what they're doing. They created this whole thing.

It is quite possible that we don't have them, depending on when the Ark ships leave!

I'm fairly certain that it's been said that there will be lots of non-squadmate characters who are still important to the story. So LIs and different species could be mixed between squadmates and these other non combatants, like Cortez/Traynor or the DAI advisors.

Best explanation I've heard yet. That should totally be true! 
As for rumors that are out there, that whole thing from one of the older leaks about MP being a way to grind equipment/resources for SP, I hope that is either false or at least got misrepresented quite a bit.
I heard a rumor that some how the ships do not end up in Andromeda, but end up in another system in the Milky Way that's never been explored. The reason for this is that someone programmed the coordinates incorrectly
