As an Adept, my favourite is probably Colossus X Light or Predator X Light. The Hazard armour is nice too, but has to be obtained via the console.

So, obtained in game or otherwise, what is your favourite gear?

I like Liberator heavy because of the yellow (I like yellow) with the dual black stripes running down either side.
Onyx armour is cool looking because of the stripe and the N7 logo.
Obviously Colossus is the best protection wise, though if I don't do all the side quests I get the Predator L/M/H armours for my squad because they're more common.
The Assassin range is also nice because I like the old design which looks like it's seen a lot of action.

I like to use the armour glitch to give Garrus heavy armour because of the unique design. The best looking is probably Nihilus's armour and I do like the Mercenary set on Garrus.

For Wrex I like Mercenary, Battlemaster, and Geth heavy armours. I much prefer this style to Grunt's ugly armour in ME2.

With Tali it doesn't really matter. The yellow designs, red designs and Colossus armours are all slightly better than the default.

The upgrades I go with are the medical exoskeletons for the health regen, especially for Insanity which I normally play. Then I add in a shield interface for the higher tier armours with two upgrade slots.
Do you know if the anti-biotic upgrades actually stop you from being knocked over by the Asari commandos, or do you fall down regardless?

Thanks for that.

I've been testing the combat exoskeletons recently myself, and it appears not.  I'm going to try equpping two soon as I've literally just left port hanshan, so I'll be facing Benezia's commandos very shortly.  I shall let you know...

The best damage protection armor is the Collosus series.  The best shield protection armor is the Predator L/M/H series.  The math has been done somewhere, and the extra damage protection is better overall than having the extra shields.  Which mods go better somewhat depends... boost shields on the Collosus, boost damage protection on the Predator L/M/H.  Also, putting Medical mods at least on the squad mates who have poor regen abilities saves a lot of medi-gel.

As for preference... depends on what I've managed to collect more of... I like dressing my squad as a squad (all in the same uniform) including the commander (Theory - to make it harder for the enemy to discern who actually is the commander).  One drawback to the Predator L/M/H series is that there is no Quarian version of it; but I do prefer the green camo it has over the Collosus bright red.

I like the Colossus. Mostly because of the red and black colors. But my favorite is the Predator

Light and heavy duelist, heavy and Medium gladiator and lastly the spectre armor.

I refuse to equip anything else, ever.

Just to confirm. Two Combat Exoskeleton Xs are still not enough to withstand biotic warp balls from Asari Commandos. You still end up on your ass. It may reduce the time until the PC gets back upp but I'm not sure...

For protection? Colossus, Ursa, Mercenary.

For looks? Onyx (the N7 one in particular), Gladiator, Mercenary, Ursa.

Still experimenting, though.

Favourite armour?  Whatever I can actually find.

The eternal search for decent armour in ME drives me crazy.

I like Onyx the best because looks are the most important thing.

Failing that, I like the way Titan and Duelist look.  Of course Spectre is pretty cool, but not accessible without console.

For Garrus, Phantom light looks the best.

That was my experience.  Never had enough "Physics Threshold" to actually resist knockdowns on Insanity.

In terms of looks:

  • For the soldier, Heavy Onyx armor (true N7 armor on Shepard), then Heavy Colossus
  • For Vanguard and Infiltrator, probably Predator M.
  • For everyone else, probable Predator L.

Looks-wise, I tend to hate most of the light armor since I think they look like rubber footy pajamas. The Predator L/M/H series is a nice green, although i prefer the medium since it is not as bulky as the heavy version. Light and Medium Colossus armor looks really weird since you have that weird red striping in the middle of the armor that makes it look like it is not completely armored; at least the heavy version looks completely armored.

But in terms of damage protection, Colossus armor because it has the highest damage protection of all the armors.

For Tali: Colossus.

For Garrus: Medium Colossus, although Phantom armor (Nihlus' armor) looks good on him.

For Wrex: Any of the Geth armors (Rage, Beserker, and forget the other name); the stats are the same, but you have your choice of green, red, or yellow. Colossus X is a close second.

For Ashley: Heavy Colossus.

For Liara: Nothing really looks good on her (Liberator maybe?), but Colossus for the damage protection.

For Kaidan: Colossus for damage protection, probably Predator L for looks.

Out of all the obtainable armors: Titan.

Out of the "hidden" armors: Hazard.

Titan has a sweet, dark snow camo look going on. Fits Infiltrators pretty well IMO. Hazard is just cool. It's got that unique design all of the hidden armors have, as well as a black w/ blue lights color scheme. My favorite of all color schemes.

To reconfirm. Colossus X L with two Combat Exoskeleton X and you still go down. However, when I removed them and installed other mods (Shield and medical) I went down but stayed down longer.  I'm curious to see what would happen as a Soldier with Colossus X H and the same mods though...

Look-vise:

All versions of Onyx and Mercenary, light versions of Duelist and Assassin, medium and heavy versions of Colossus. Medium Onyx and light Duelist are tied on first place.

Stat-vise:

Predator with Medical Exoskeleton and Kinetic Exoskeleton.

I rarely go stat-vise.

Mercenary. Why? For the simple reason that it's red. Which is my favorite color.

I don't really have a favorite armor yet but i liked Shiala's armor when i first saw her. But when i saw the armor in the light i found it less likeable.

On my current ME1 run, I have Shep at lvl 55 Human engineer.  It's a toss up between Colossus and Predator armor, and I have Wrex in his cool Rage armor (black with red lights).  We just got done talking to Vigil.  It looks like playthrough 2 is coming soon - I just have too much fun getting all immersive in ME1.

I very rarely get a "Critical Mission Failure" for running with scissors.  I have died a few times in lava on Therum and from not respecting that on higher difficulties a Krogan can really wreck your day with surprising speed.  I've died by being too close to Thresher maws, and I've gotten into some really nasty foot battles with geth armatures and snipers on higher difficulties.

I also died one time disarming a nuke.  There is nothing so spectacular as getting blown up underground in a confined space - I'm sure that it would have left a ringing in my ears had I been anywhere near them.

This might be because you had +70% hardening from the Combat Exos.  I wonder if two Energized Weave VII's would be similar (although only 60% hardening).

edit:  Physics Threshold always seemed quite mysterious to me, I mostly assumed it was supposed to be like a "physical resistance check" that you would have in something like Dragon Age, but there have been other explanations I have seen.  Whatever it is doing seems like it is pretty subtle, at least on higher difficulties, which is probably why it still has discussion even all these years later.

It might be worthwhile to try some tests on Veteran or Normal and see if it is noticeable there.

Nothing can beat Colossus. It has the highest damage protaction.

But Rage and Battlemaster attracted my attention too.
