As far as I know, Thane was supposed to be to ladies what the asari are to dudes. And, well, it kind of works? I've never romanced him, but he sure does have a lovely physique. I often take him on missions with Samara to maximise the fabulousness.

You think?  I've never found Thane to be attractive tbh....I think it has something to do with his low cut top and insistence that I stare at his pecs all the time.

But hey, I have Garrus so I'm good.  I'm glad Thane has some adoring fans.

So is "eye candy" meant in a negative way?

I've always felt the drell are, in general, one of the more interesting-looking species in all of ME. ...So far.

That's not very different than Samara, is it? ;)

Although I think the explanation for that is "his chest needs to breathe" because of his illness.

I've never noticed that. At least I've never noticed camera lingering on his body, but that might be just me. If it did, it was much more subtle than Miranda's ass and boob cam. Otherwise, I actually romance Kaidan with my favourite Shep because I like the dynamic and overall development. Plus, I always gravitate towards good-natured dorks like that. Garrus doesn't really do anything for me. Either way, I appreciate that they tried since femShep's options aren't exactly ideal.

Good point.  She really....puts them out there doesn't she?   Her girls can be quite distracting.  :?

No, his character and recruiting mission are excellent. The eye candy is bonus.

I need a mod to cover her up. There is no way I can show the game to my parents with that design. I looked on Nexus mods but couldn't find any :'(

That'd be cool, I use one in DAO for the Chasin'd armour.  It's way too scanty so I like a little a more coverage.  I make Isabela wear little shorts under her dress too.

I'm no prude (I very much enjoyed the boobs in DAI  ), but I just don't think it's realistic to go into combat with big bits of flesh uncovered.....one reason to do Jack's LM asap so I can get her new loyalty outfit.

It is possible with ME3:
http://www.nexusmods...ffect3/mods/388
http://www.nexusmods...ffect3/mods/375

But ME2 is more difficult (and maybe impossible) to mod that way and I don't think I've seen any, sadly. There's http://www.nexusmods...effect2/mods/58 but it mostly retextures her cleavage to be black, which doesn't help, in my opinion.

Either way, I wouldn't be bothered by most of the cleavages and catsuits (although the concentration could be somewhat smaller), but it looks really weird in space (They also need proper helmets and not stupid breathers!) and during gunfights. And that comes from a person that loves Samara and boobs.

Samara surprised me, though. The camera focuses on her body so much during the recruitment, but then it... stops? I don't remember the rest of the game giving her Miranda treatment. It was actually quite easy for me to forget the cleavage is even there at times. But maybe I was just distracted by her big blue... eyes.

Yeah, anybody who's ever tried to exercise or do sport in something like that will have an idea how uncomfortable it is. Hell, sometimes it's enough to wear it.

I leave Isabela's outfit be because it fits her as a character and her fighting style relies specifically on not getting hit, so I cut her some slack, but when she's doing all those jumps in those panties, I do go...

ouch.gif

... sometimes.

Jack is one of those I'd rather even see completely topless than with those metal thingies pressed to her nipples. Ow!  And Miranda looks like she'll need a surgery to remove the catsuit from her butt. (No wonder she only unzips the top during the romance scene!)

EMPATHIC PAIN!

Thane is actually the only one in ME who has a reason to have his chest uncovered or at least it is explained. I still don't know how plausible it is, but it's something, I suppose. It makes you wonder then, however, how fit he is to even take on missions if he's that ill.

Jack being completely topless makes even less sense -- there's far too much... movement happening for zer0 restraint to be plausible.

Women have two reasons for exposing their chest: breasts. ;) Literal only reason. Until Iron Bull, there hasn't been a male character that's been equally exposed. Well, ok, maybe Varric -- chest hair is his reason. :D

But you're right. Thane is the only one with a legitimate reason beyond aesthetics. It's just to our benefit.

Weeell, I don't think Thane is attractive, but he has pretty colours at least. Though I like Feron even more in terms of colours, he looks much nicer than Thane :D

So, no Drell boys for me, but I would so ship Feron and Liara just so she doesn't hit on me

Hrm, all this Samara talk makes me want to create a Shepard that hits on her  She's awesome.

Well, I wasn't talking about combat and such, of course. It's not like the boob straps offer any protection anyway. It was hilarious when I accidentally took Jack on one of those planets with green toxic fumes. I think the other companion even mentioned something about the stuff being aggressive. So, yeah, that was ridiculous.  It's so strange that ME2 takes place in the same universe as ME1, because the first game had everybody wear a suit and helmet and also showed some truly harsh environments. The helmets even had unique design for each party member which was really cool!

Bare breasts aren't a problem, even for female characters, when used appropriately. It really depends on how it is executed. Not saying I want a topless character necessarily. I generally don't find it practical to wear so little by default, but I'm not opposed to it if done well. Hell, I give even the Iron Bull covering armours when I can.  It's true that we didn't really have scantily clad male characters until Bull and Varric has his funny shirt. Funnily enough, neither Bull nor Varric appeal to me (but they likely appeal to somebody else). I go for Cullen who's covered and armoured from head to toe because... I like knights in shining armour and he's really nice but also kind of a hardass and has a lot of interesting backstory and development, leave me be...  :pinched: Either way, so I don't know whether exposed skin actually does anything at all. The tight outfit and boob window didn't make me romance Thane, either. Not that I don't appreciate the view.  :P I always appreciate the view.

^ The only real reason women are bare is simply because they are women -- that's kind of a... whole thing I don't want to get into -- and I've never found it to go beyond that. Generally I find it difficult to take anyone seriously who thinks they can stroll into combat half-naked -- Bull obviously has the scars to show why that's a bad idea, and yeah, in space it's even more ridiculous. So. Much. Hazard.

Bull is really not to my interest because I'm more on the Cullen side too but I would've done Varric, though not because of his so-very-manly chest hair. I romanced Thane because of his character, not his reptilian chest. Skin doesn't much matter to me either. ;)

I also always wondered how Samara and Miranda can run around in heels. Do they have constant biotic mass effect fields supporting their entire spine, feet, everything? Ridiculous.

But you don't need anti-rash creams from Mordin when you romance Asari...

But I do agree on Thane made for ladies.

Yeah, this game punishes ladies for having sex with aliens, lol. Thane gives you hallucinations and rashes. Garrus gives you bruises and possibly anaphylactic shock if not careful. (That doesn't sound like fun at all!) Poor Tali is allergic to manShep, as well, but in this case I understand and she does adapt to him eventually. (OF COURSE the asari are fine for everybody.)

And, well, depends on whether you think caboodling while being high is a bad thing or...

Urgh that annoys the crap outta me, it's so stupid.  According to the tv female cops wear high heels and totter around on them whilst trying to catch the bad guys.  <_<

Seems legit.

Ah now Varric's chest exposure is entirely reasonable.

Sadly the Varric romance ship has probably sailed.....  :crying:

Yup, he's more attractive imo.

Things like this has always bothered me in games too. I know it's just a game, it's not real and it's just done for the sake of sexy.

It's not going to serve you very well anyway when your sexy corpse lies there with arrows piercing your lungs and a sword stuck in your guts...

It annoys me a bit for some reason.

Quite often the guys gets to walk around proper armour (unless it is overly bulky) while he women just have enough (barely) to cover the naughty bits.

Why does the guys run around in bulky armour in these cases when wearing no armour seem to work just as well in those cases?
