Haha, coming into the thread where half the conversation has already happened… ![]()
Things like this has always bothered me in games too. I know it's just a game, it's not real and it's just done for the sake of sexy.
It's not going to serve you very well anyway when your sexy corpse lies there with arrows piercing your lungs and a sword stuck in your guts...
It annoys me a bit for some reason.
Quite often the guys gets to walk around proper armour (unless it is overly bulky) while he women just have enough (barely) to cover the naughty bits.
Why does the guys run around in bulky armour in these cases when wearing no armour seem to work just as well in those cases?
This gets into the stuff “I didn’t want to get into” I mentioned earlier, but… To put it… simply, it’s a form of objectification. It’s placing more emphasis on women’s bodies rather than how they are people. It’s unfortunate because in a game like ME where we have one of, if not the only, strongest female protagonists in video game history, we also have Miranda who is sexualized, and EDI. Same with Morrigan in DA. Men aren’t subjected to this over-sexualized treatment because it’s an inequality that won’t die.
B... but... WHAT ABOUT THE AGILITY?!
I always cringe when my Dalish Elf gets arrows through her BARE BELLY in that cheerleader outfit at the beginning of DAO before I put her into something more reasonable. Like, I can see that the armour rating works as intended and everything, but that's so awkward to watch. This makes me cringe as well...
...
That Dalish armor was so... "wtf, this is stupid" and "who thought this would be a good idea?"
Yeah, it can't be said enough that, despite the fact it doesn't fit the situations the characters often find themselves in, I do appreciate what they were trying to do with Thane. It means they recognised that there was something missing and added it to the best of their ability. Whether it worked out perfectly or not, that's another thing, but it was a solid attempt and I dare say it had pretty decent results. Plus, it brought a really interesting alien race, as well. (I love the lore.)
...
My thing about Thane is that here we have a male showing more skin than usual, which still is hardly any, but it has an explanation. As if they need to justify this little bit of male exposure whereas with Miranda it's just “Hey, check out her bum. Nice right?” I like Miranda and wish she’d been given proper respect. They almost do the same with Iron Bull by saying that Qunari are used to warmer temperatures, and thus don't often wear much out of habit.
But, uh... More Thane. Yes.

...
Ah now Varric's chest exposure is entirely reasonable.
Sadly the Varric romance ship has probably sailed.....
...
Seems it has sailed... Would've liked to do him with Hawke instead of a new character, though. ![]()
I love Thane. I am not 100% but his face looks like it could be built with the golden ratio- either way he's the best looking lizard I've ever seen in my life! ![]()
After ME1 and starting ME2, I was in Kaidan mode until I reunited with Kaidan on Horizon.
FU Kaidan. No omg my love! You survived my dear come to me! NOPE. Just outrage. My Shep was pissed. Thane was there- and he was utterly romantic and swept Shep off her feet.
I chopped a lot of onions when he died in ME3. Bioware really likes to smash our hearts.
Also I don't care if all armor looks 100% believable - I like style- I don't think everyone needs to be ready to strip and take my dollar bills but I do like how sleek a lot of the armor looks.
I wonder if Bioware will publish their workout routines and food prep ![]()

That reminds me of my first playthrough. He starts talking about how drell memories work and randomly jumps to "the warmth of another's hand on yours, the taste of another's tongue in your mouth"...

That caught me off guard completely. Why suddenly so sexual?
(Well, I'm not complaining.)

Totally. "Letting the inside spill out a little, there, Thane?" It's pretty clear it's been some time since he's socialized, like he said. But that's ok. I like listening to him talk. ![]()

Don't know how they managed to make a reptile look attractive, I just reap the benefits.
Thane's death didn't have as big an impact on me because it had already been a little spoiled. A little. Losing him so soon after Mordin, though. They really kicked me in the gut.
Haha, I can't be/stay mad at Kaidan. ![]()
I think we perhaps know how Jacob stays in shape... Or at least Kasumi might have some footage. ![]()
Oh no, nobody said that! Everybody's welcome here, right? Though I do agree we should get back on topic, as you said, since we've been all over the place.
Anyway, I've just realised that the Alternate Appearance Pack covers Thane's cleavage:
Interesting.
I kind of wish they dropped the shades for both him and Jack, though. In such a dialogue heavy game, I'd really prefer to see their eyes.
Yeah, those shades make them look like refugees from a 'Deal with it' meme.
Um... well... have this as an apology, thread.
That's one sexy Widow.
Or... widower...?
I hate myself right now.

So she maintains her biotic barriers 100% of time? And that helps against radiation and other things one might encounter in space? I don't know. That sounds like too much unnecessary work. Of course, during combat, I'd imagine she'd have her barriers up. I'd also think she'd want something if those barriers fail, just like characters that only have kinetic barriers would want a layer of armour just in case. (We're talking life and death situations after all.) I just think the outfits in general weren't very fit for combat or space exploration. The breathers don't protect their eyes or the rest of their heads, either. On a planet with green toxic mist, or lava, ash and smoke, or radiation from a dying sun, or similar that's a little masochistic. ME2 was more about being cool and unique than about being practical, which is rather surprising after ME1 that often had environments so harsh that you had to limit your stay out of the Mako despite wearing fully covering space suits. I dislike Jacob's catsuit, as well. (I think it looks really stupid, too.)
Let's hope that everyone, aliens included get proper space armor and helmets in MEA. No more face masks!
I don't wear heels, except for special occasions, but I've heard that you get used to it, if you wear them a lot. Some have said it's actually hard to walk in regular shoes. Wearing heels all the time is said to actually shorten your calf muscles.
Might be BS but thought I'd share. Miranda does seem to wear heels even in her alternate appearance with the armor.
But back to the topic, I never did really notice his boob window
it's kind of funny that they have an explanation for it, yet they cover it up in the alt appearance back. The shades are horrible.
He's very caught up on his wife, but my Shepard wouldn't mind having sex with him before the suicide mission. Without the feels that is, because we're all going to die tomorrow.
But Vega does take his shirt off a lot in ME3. Or is it just me?
So BioWare cut a lot of dialogue from Thane in ME3. Apparently, Thane tells a joke while on his death bed. Something about having wished him and Shepard were meeting under less perforated times.
Not funny Thane. But it did spawn a series of...if Thane told bad jokes...
