Hey guys so for my next playthrough I want to create an inquisitor similar in character and skill to Aragorn from lotr. Which class would be more suited to this role? A warrior or rogue? In the earlier movies he looks more like a rogue, however by return of the king he definately looks like a warrior. What kind of choices do you think he would make in thedas? For example would he conscript the templars, or ally with them?

Two-handed human warrior Reaver (I see him more like a damager), conscripts Templars (just like he "conscripted" the Army of The Dead), romance Josephine.

If you prefer something more like Fellowship of The Ring Aragorn, roll a rogue archer Artificer (a Ranger would be proficient at setting traps).

I get why you may be tempted to view him as rogue due to his demeanor and dress in the earlier parts of the trilogy, but if you look at the actual combat sequences, he is warrior through and through.

Now admittedly on Weathertop he's wielding a sword in one hand and has a torch in the other, which MAY make you think "dual-wielding" and harken back to previous Dragon Age rogue abilities (though it was also a warrior ability, don't forget.)  But I believe this was a specific instance where the use of flame was of particular advantage against the opponents.

Now here at Helms Deep, you clearly see him in two-handed mode.

And here again on the Pelennor Fields, he's wading into battle in two-handed mode.

As far as specialization, come on now, you have to go with Champion. :)

ETA:  More Fellowship confirming two-handed.

(note in the Moria one, he is later wielding one-handed, but that's because he throws his two-handed sword through a troll's neck)

2H Warrior Templar Elf. Templar due to his fighting supernatural (wraiths and ghosts) and knowing some elf stuff. He tries to defend fellows against the corrupting influence of the Ring and Sauron. I say elf because Elessar has elf influence in his blood, lived as a ranger for most his life, and was raised by elves.

When dealing with Rohan and Gondor, he didn't try to dominate them when looking for allies against Sauron, so never conscript. If you go with story, not personality alone, I would go with Templars, as their corruption at higher levels and elevation of Barris is like how Rohan started to fall apart due to evil influence and Eomer becoming king.

Josie is closest to Arwen, I think (she doesn't fight in the books).

Would probably recruit the Wardens like he recruited the dead.

Not sure on all the other things.
