These ME:A Theories below are the story arc that I feel most likely to match the actual Bioware story. Some of it came out of my own poor brain, Others items are things I have read various places.
I think the voyage to Andromeda started prior to the final Reaper battle as a hedge against defeat. No other race or group of races had ever beat the Reapers mankind had to know that it was long shot. They take all our most advanced tech with them and acquire more from the races they encounter in the Andromeda galaxy. There was a picture of a Citadel looking place in one of the screenshots, I think they build it. We had quite a bit of advanced technology from the Reaper weapon schematics, what we were learning about the Reapers and the additional Prothean tech we were uncovering before they left. Perhaps they found a new cache which gave them the tech to build the ship and this expedition is a result of that fined.
The crew/passengers were all volunteers and came from all the council races and their allies. The crew consist of scientists, explorers, soldiers and just plan folk that were willing to take the chance or felt they had no chance back home.
The protagonist (our character) is not N7 but possibly an explorer/scout or possibly scientific type. The white armor doesn't have that N7 logo- the other character in the darker N7 armor could be a crew member or possibly part of an opposing faction. .
When they get to the new galaxy the find themselves in the middle of shooting war. Inevitably various human and alien factions side with both of the new warring faction causing issues within the refugee group.
