Perhaps I overthought it. Seems reasonable enough the way you put it. As long as the estimated death toll is low enough, and cryosleep can be kept during the journey... mostly thinking about their inability to stay still and their urge for violence. Or maybe they have managed to design something that help the Krogans in managing their behavior?

I don't think their urge for violence means that they go into berserker rages out of the blue. Else they wouldn't make for great mercenaries. As Wrex puts it, it means they love to fight and have a drive to explore and fight big things to kill. Well, if Andromeda is as teeming as the Milky Way with alien life, I think they will have ample outlets for any potential pent-up aggression, and then some. I wouldn't be surprised if plenty of Krogans volunteered for the Andromedan expedition, more than any racial average. For some, finding new species/people, then killing them must seem like a bit of a dream job.

The Krogan are not at risk of dying out because of the Genophage. The reason they were dying out is not because of the Genophage by itself, but because of it and other factors like living on a very hostile planet and their mindset. If they colonized a planet that wasn't hostile, even with the Genophage there numbers would steadily increase since each female would still have one child every year. So they are no more likely to die out than humans are.

Indeed, not only that:

This Expedition surely has Salarian STG scientists on board, who have the genophage-data (the original and the modification Mordin and his team were developing to fight Krogan adaptation!)...so they could dangle that carrot in front of any Krogan who might be willing to join such an effort (and let's not forget: The Krogan are just about the meanest bastards in Mass Effect and can take loads of punishment and they can survive in hostile conditions much longer than the other races (except the Geth maybe!) so they'd be perfect for exploration on hostile worlds - not to forget: We will need muscle there if there's conflict (and Krogan are more likely to survive a fight than most others...exactly why the Turians wanted them in ME3!), which would GREATLY motivate the Krogan (hell, some might even be as intelligent as Wrex an see that fighting the other races and revenge is basically a bad idea!)
