Curious as to why you say this. Not that I necessarily disagree. Are you referring to the research that indicates that our brain makes decisions before we are consciously aware?

''Free will'' is just another term for ''I don't have all the information available to predict the future''. If you have all the information from everything in this universe you can exactly predict and calculate whats going to happen and when its going to happen, every gust of wind, every birth and death of every galaxy, every single thought and every single decision of all the people. So technically, what we call fate is real, the future is written down and free will does not exist, our existence is nothing more than a movie - or rather simulation- and we can't do anything but play the roles we're given, even if we think we are free spirits. Everything happens exactly like it is meant to, exceptions are impossible.

That's just my humble opinion on this topic.

But this is great! In court, everyone can just plead fate! Fate made me do it... it's got a ring to it.

I like your humble opinion.

I'm in favor of more male LIs in general, especially aliens. Especially BEAUTIFUL aliens. If you're a straight woman in ME and you want a little alien lovin' your choices are...  the squid and the lizard. Meanwhile, those inclined the other way get their choice of Asari (gorgeous blue-skinned women) or Quarians (gorgeous purple-skinned women).

We've waited long enough. Lets have a whole race of gorgeous alien supermen. Or at least, lets have AI-controlled sentient robots who look like gorgeous men, a la Jude Law's character in AI. Come on!

Seriously EDI ruined joker for me. He became such a creepy, sexist, pos with her around. Nope. I felt so bad for EDI. She was worth a lot more than the way he treated her. Gross.

Ah. You believe in determinism, then. Quantum mechanics introduces the possibility of randomness to the universe. If we discover that probabilities truly govern nature, and the random nature isn't just due to our inability to take precise measurements without effecting the outcome, a kink will be thrown into determinism. At any rate, just curious as to how you arrived at your perspective.

As mentioned earlier, the study that shows that our brains make decisions seconds before we are consciously aware of the decision calls free will into question. Free will might just be an illusion. Ahhh, we're all mindless robots!

So he became Donnelly. He was a fool. Doesn't follow the sexiest woman in the galaxy to her bed but would rather have a robot. And he treated her fine.

Oh, speaking of free will again, there's also the phenomenon of blindsight where people that have suffered a brain injury that effects sight, usually blind or partially blind, see things but don't consciously realize they see it. So, for example, a person might be able to put a piece of mail into a slot, catch a ball, describe details of an object all without consciously seeing it. If asked the person will say that they aren't seeing but reliably perform the action.

The hypothesis to explain this ability is that the injured brain reverts to an older more primitive visual pathway to 'see' but this older pathway bypasses consciousness. I'm trying to remember where I read about it. Either Oliver Sacks or VS Ramachandran's books. Anyway, this phenomenon, calls into question how much control we really have over our actions.
