It would make the Galaxy (both galaxies) pretty small.
I hope Rey is not Luke Skywalker's daughter in that regard ![]()

Also, Shepard had no known family in two of three backrounds so s/he would have no nephews/nieces/cousins etc.

The movie hinted a lot that it's the case. I don't care either way, but it'd be a pleasant surprise if they followed another direction. It would make the Galaxy (both galaxies) pretty small.
I hope Rey is not Luke Skywalker's daughter in that regard

No, I want Ryder to be a completely fresh character. There are room for stories outside of Shepard's sphere of influence.

Only if it is like this:
Shepard: "Not so fast, Ryder."
Ryder: "Shepard. So, at last we meet for the first time for the last time. ...yeah."
Shepard: "Before you go, there is something you should know about us, Ryder."
Ryder: "What?"
Shepard: "I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate."
Ryder: "What does that make us?"
Shepard: "Absolutely nothing."

Hero dynasties are okay in the fantasy genre, where magic or champions anointed by the gods can explain a single family repeatedly saving the world. It is a poorer fit for Sci Fi, where the world usually mirrors our own with no one being born with some great destiny, or supernatural traits that raise them above their peers.
In a universe with at least trillions of people, and one where Sheoard was not born with some inherent greatness, it shouldn't continually fall to a single family to save the day. Shepard's family members should be as likely to turn out to be ordinary people as they would some N7 golden boy or girl.

With annoyance.
It wouldn't work for Earth born Shepard to begin with. They have no family on record.

That would be laughably lazy writing.

Sure. There were roughly 300,000 people on Earth in Pleistocene, so we are ALL related, whether you like it or not.
Doesn't mean they have to drive it any further.

The N7 antagonist in Mass Effect Andromeda is actually Shepard. Calling it now.

I'd rather this not become Star Wars where almost every person of some kind of destiny is apparently related to the Skywalker line in some way.

If so, theyed bec ousins, like Hawke and Amell Warden. However, it's been confirmed that they won't be related.
