Whenever someone suggests cutting romances from BioWare games I get an intense flashback of Donald Sutherland at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

You got my vote Dutch's Ghost. LI's in Mass Effect were always forced on the player.

Romances, the most cringest part of any Bioware game. People here actually base doing a playthrough of DAI simply to role-play a romance - if you don't believe me just read the DAI subsection.

Sometimes it saddens me that some people's solely purpose of playing BW's games are romances (I often see the same people here gushing over certain characters over and over or discussing only romance stuff. Well, I've certainly contributed to that, but only a little). I don't mind romances, but this whole romancefest and the army of squealing fangirls are making me gradually lose interest in BW's games, because I simply can't handle that level of cringe. Solas. Solas everywhere.

The romance is a possibility, I do not understand your problem.

To be fair, what else to discuss at the moment? Eveything about the trailer is already being discussed like 10 different threads talking about how ugly the new Asari is just like 10 threads talking about how ugly Morrigan was. Everything that could potentially be discussed had already been discussed. Romance is basically ended up being the only thing people could talk about at the moment.

It's better if you don't point those things out. Apparently it can be considered Abusive behavious/trolling, and if someone reports you might get a warning.

Lol seriously? Didn't know that.... This place has gotten more and more ridiculous.

I have this little game I like to play whenever I hear something like this. It goes like this; I like to check the first page of the forum I've heard this on and see how many threads about romance is on said page. This includes joke and bait threads.

Out of the twenty-nine threads on the first page of the Mass Effect: Andromeda forum only one about romance is present at the moment and it is this one which is about removing romance. That leaves twenty-eight threads. I even went back a page to check and on the second page there was four threads with a connection to romance. This would leave twenty-five other threads on the second page.

Out of the twenty-nine threads on the first page of the Dragon Age: Inquisition forum in the General Discussion only two at the present moment is about romance although it should be noted that one is a discussion is about which class and such.

The seven out of twenty-nine in Story, Campaign and Characters section contains discussion, squeeing and gushing but it also features discussion of the respective character's characterization. Even so, that leaves twenty-one threads that are not about romance and a number of the ones frequently posted in are lore discussions.

The recent long-running thread in the General Discussion that were about Solas? It became much more about a serious discussion of his character and how people percieved him unconnected to his romance.

Anyways, Bioware occasionally does Romances right (liara) but I feel as do some, that Romances should be stripped.

There's no point to them and the time and energy spent making them should be spent on making characters actual characters instead of insert flirt here, 'we'll bang Ok' there.

Subjective opinions about romance aside, the Mass Effect team has announced a bit back that they are working on reworking and refining the romance aspect of the game;

• Relations will be more realistic, they will evolve more organic

• Romances will no longer be choosing the flirty dialogue options, which lead to a romance scene after a while

• This also applies to non-romantic relations with squadmates, they too are more dynamic

*look at the BSNer's name and avatar.........*

"Lord Bolton", talking about "romance".... it feels so strange and wrong XD (I'm sorry lol)

Just avoid romance threads if they make you cringe, that's all ;) and I'm sure you're wrong : the majority of the BSNers are playing ME for everything in the game, not only romances : story, characters, space, worlds....

No.

They are not mandatory.  Don't like them, don't do them.  I always have a character who does not do a romance, but I also have characters who do.  Options.  the more options the more I can replay it.  BioWare does good characters and usually they do a good job with the romances.

Tell that to Ash, Kaiden and Liara in ME1 and Ash and Kaiden in ME3.

I wouldn't mind if they scrapped the romances, I play this for the RP and the action, nothing else is needed most.

3 pages? My ego isn't even threatened by that. Besides, given the tone and general aggression, OP will probably get the thread locked before long.

Routine reminder that Angry Elcor did it better.

But to be fair, I really dropped the ball on including language in the title the evokes nudity.

Best response to this thread!

I have my moments.

Unfortunately I also have moments where I completely space that the thread was meant for trolling or the poster didn't intend what I assume which leads to a number of rather cringing posts.

I agree romances should be stripped to allow more space for actual game content. I have a real life love interest, so see no point in them, I guess being a member of the real world makes a difference IMO.
