Just strip out combat.
Bioware, if you can't tell a riveting story about the "other" people on the ship that don't choose slaughter as a solution to every problem... you're not telling stories right.

Bioware occasionally does Romances right (liara) but I feel as do some, that Romances should be stripped.
There's no point to them....
You are missing the larger value of romances in ME - crew morale would be at an all-time low with no romances! ![]()

Well, I guess a Turians chitinous shell would provide some protection.
Edit: That is if they have one.

no this is a terrible idea, ryder will end up at least somewhat traumatizedby the end of the game so who gonna give them the hug they need by the end of it if not a LI?

Honestly the ME romances haven't exactly been top quality, and many follow similar patterns, especially in ME1 and ME2. The character don't have to be bad. But from a meta-perspective the relationships are indeed awkard and sometmes even nonesenical. I wouldn't mind if the orignal romances were dropped in favour of more general character development, but that's just me. There's some evidence that romance paths will be more elaborate in Andromeda and I sure hope so cause I could really go without Bioware has show up until now.
I'm very glad they went with the ME1 romances. I loved he whole bedroom scene, music, lighting, actions and the dialogue worked in ME1. I didn't care if the bedroom scene was pretty much the same for Ash and Liara, probably because 8 out or 10 Shepards romanced Kaidan and when he survived it worked for me. Sure I would have liked more dialogue throughout the game and would have loved a bit more humorous flirting sometimes but over all it was great.
ME2 seemed like they tried to make each one a bit differently which was a nice idea, but most of them i just passed on. I did find Jack and Paragon William to be very sweet and it helped turn Jack into one of my favorite characters. This and one game where she dies saving Miranda.
For me, the romances put a new dimension on some of the characters that I wouldn't get with a deeper friendship path, though I do hope this is more developed, I don't have to be best friends with all of the team. I want a great story and interesting characters and the romances just add another level to that story. If I just want to shoot things, I'll play Borderland. I want more from a BioWare game.

Not going to happen. If anything, they're doubling down on them.
Personally, I think the deeper you can get to know your crew, the better. The romances are one aspect of that.

Stripping out romances altogether would be a terrible idea.
You have the option to not romance anyone. Stripping out romances would seem like a pointless thing to do since its not forced upon you at any time.

Title should be Just improve the romances cause that's what bio should really be doing. I happen to enjoy them. They add to the story and it's fun. If you have such a big problem with em then don't romance. Frigg off and stay womanless or manless in Andromeda. As for me, I'll be havin "good times" in my personal cabin.
I don't really care for them, but yeah if they are there make them better. Add breakups, make up sex, all out arguments.
