Hey, guys! I've recently downloaded my first mod; "the grey wardens of ferelden."-- with just the intention of inquiring more armor sets. however, since i don't really want npc armorsets to change i only downloaded the core file.. And it works, with one caviat. I didn't get very many armor sets. Some of the screenshots included armorsets which aren't included in the file i downloaded.   Obviously that's because they were included in some of the files i didn't download.

As for the point of this post: I'm curious about which files include what armor sets. the other primary file; is there any new armor sets there? If so, can you get them without changing AI appearance?   What are those texture packs? Are they some cool upgrades to the armor sets, additional armor sets or just meant for making it compatible with other mods?

Sorry for the inconvenience, i don't even know if this is the right section of the forum for this kind of stuff. Does it belong in the forum at all?

edit: is there a way to upgrade their materials for the sake of better stats?

I think you'd get better answers and sooner if you'd asked in the comment section of the mod.

For what it's worth, changing the armour to it's DA2 appearance is awesome, the Dalish look fantastic and it makes a big difference imo.

I use this one and pick out a few outfits, one for Zev, one for Leliana, and one for my female Wardens.  It doesn't change any NPC outfits, you could give it a try.

Funny you should start this topic, I downloaded and installed this mod yesterday with mixed results.  I'm doing the Dalish elf origin.  When Duncan shows up, he's in the blue DA2 GW armor, not in the massive armor shown in the pics for the mod.  My PC and the other two recruits received GW recruit armor which surprisingly has no blue in it but rather a touch of green.  And poor Alistair has nothing but his usual scale armor, no GW outfit at all.  So I'm wondering what did I do wrong?

The docs for this mod mention using a console command "runscript givewardenarmors" or something like that.  I'm still trying to get that to work.

As to the recruit armors, they're nice, perhaps too nice.  They are Tier 7 medium armor with stats that are overpowered for early game.  (One would think recruits would get lower quality goods.)  That said, your PC GW and Alistair are supposed to be isolated from the other GW's after Ostagar, so perhaps it's appropriate that they get an armor that will be good for the whole game if they want to stay in uniform.

I think you'd get better answers and sooner if you'd asked in the comment section of the mod.

I did that and have yet to get a reply.  Not nearly as busy as this board.

Hi, AG!  Thanks for the link on console commands.  Hopefully I'll get it to work.

As to your link here, it's to stuff regarding Witcher gear.  (For the non-GWs of the team?)  Just curious as to where you got DA2 GW gear.  If you use the "Grey Wardens of Ferelden" mod, any insights into how to get the mod to work would be appreciated.  I installed the DAZip file that came with the mod and extracted the other files to override and got the results I mentioned above.

I use the Witcher gear purely for aesthetics, Zev, Lel and my female Wardens look badass in them, yet appropriate for the Ferelden climate.

I have the DA2 armours in the game as part of the Improved Atmosphere mod, I haven't used the Grey Warden mod myself.

To make these clothing mods work you need to use the DA installer, opening the DAZip files within it.  Once installed, enable the console and start the game.  Following the console instructions, type a line starting with the word runscript, then a space, then the name of the armour you want.  Usually the codes for the armour will be in the accompanying readme file.

It should then appear in your inventory.  :)

I installed Improved Atmosphere.  Where do you get DA2 Warden Armors with IA?

It doesn't change the warden armours, it changes many of the base armours in the game.  So the armour Daveth wears, the armour the Dalish clan are wearing, the mage's robes I think too.  But not specifically the wardens.

Okay.  The first core file is to get the armors for your Warden, which should spawn in your inventory after the Joining. If they don't, you need to use the dev console and the script runscript givewardenarmors to get them, which you can find instructions for here.  You'll want this addon too, so you can see what you're typing ;)  The second main file is the one that changes the Warden NPCs throughout DAO and Awakening, including Duncan and Alistair.  The other files are various recolors of the armors (my personal favorite is LapisLazzuli's Grey Warden B ), a replacer for the second main file to put Duncan in the rogue's armor instead of the commander's armor, replacers for Daveth and Jory and your PC's start armor at Ostagar, an addon for the Universal Dye Kit that will allow you to tint certain recolors, and a replacer that will change the massive armor into the Runic Armor.

You can change stats and materials for any armor with the Winter Forge mod.

Or you could use the original Warden armor mod or the Blight Buster mod to get the armors too.  You'll still need the dev console to spawn the original mod's armors and the Dye Kit is quite fun with the Blight Buster armors.

Thank you. Does the files include additonal versions of the armor sets or do they change the current ones?

Okay, yes I did notice that.  I'm doing the Dalish Origin and my rogue was wearing something more akin to what Dalish elves use in Inquisition at the beginning of the game.

Can anyone who has used the mod just explain what each of the files in the grey wardens of ferelden mod does?

I can give a partial explanation for the files I used.  The first file is the core file which is installed via DAZip.  The second file down -- the main file -- has all the blue Grey Warden armors from DA2 from every class -- mage, scout, heavy warrior armor, and warrior commander armor and their respective weapons.  It's all Tier 1 though more souped up than normal Tier 1 stuff.

I didn't use most of the other files, but I did install the Duncan rogue variant armor so he doesn't have the massive Warden Commander armor.  Farther down the list, I also installed the Warden Recruit Armor.  The description said it was for Daveth and Ser Jory and they are wearing it when you see them.  However, they also include a set for the PC.  As I mentioned above, it looks different from the DA2 Warden Armor.  I'm actually beginning to think it looks better than the DA2 Warden armors except for the helmet.  It's also Tier 7 Drakeskin and it has the corresponding stats.

As to the other files, they represent variants that other modders have thought of that aren't necessarily lore friendly - aside from the GW emblem - but many of which actually look cooler than the DA2 Warden armor.

IMHO, Grey Warden armor looked best in Inquisition, even though the events of that game certainly constitute the Wardens' darkest hour.  DA2 Warden armor looks a bit odd, but I found it better than the total lack of a Grey Warden uniform in Origins.  Aside from Sophia's armor and the occasional winged helmets, what else is there?  Which of course brings up the mystery of why does everyone in Origins recognize your PC and Alistair as Grey Wardens sans any special gear?  (Does the taint come with a peculiar smell?)

Anyhow, look at the pics involved with this mod to see what interests you.  Aside from the core file and the Warden Recruit armor, you will need to enable console commands to access everything else.

I just went through all the armors offered by this mod; the Aremeta texture pack has my vote for best Warden armor.  Not exactly in keeping with lore, but DA2's blue armor was just too blue.

Can you provide screenshots? and are they additional armor sets or do they replace old ones?

The images on the mod page shows what the various armors look like, they just don't label them well.  Basically, that main file after the core DAZip file provides the basic blue-colored armor you see in DA2.  All the other files work on those basic models adjusting the color and texture.  If you click on the images for the mod, on that first page, 3rd row down, the first and fourth pics show the dark Aremeta armor I like.  First pic, you can see the scout and the warrior heavy armor.  The fourth pic shows the heavy and massive armors and the woman is in recruit armor.  This is the color set I chose.  If you download the Aremeta file, it comes with jpegs to show what everything looks in dark or light colors.  For the other ones after Aremeta, you pretty much have to install them to see what they look like.  Actually not a long process.  After you first provide your PC and Alistair with the original armor, save game and quit DAO.  Extract the armor you want to try out to override.  Open your last save to see the result.  Rinse and repeat.

I got this mod to work in terms of giving me the Warden armors in the color I wanted.  I'm now at Soldier's Peak.  In the cutscenes, all the wardens are wearing the DA2 armors except for Commander Sophia, whose chestplate is invisible.  You can see her head, her boots, her gauntlets, but not her chest.  When you get her armor after defeating the demon who possesses her, same thing.  What did I do wrong?

Update:  In addition to armor problems, I can no longer finish off Soldiers' Peak.  In the final scene where Avernus is supposed to repair the tear in the Veil while you fight off the demons, Avernus freezes and no demons come.  And thus, the DLC cannot be completed.
