The new race with the transforming buildings coming out of the earth from the trailer? They seem more an ancient race thats hibernating. Would time mechanics or portals give them a more OP and terrifying edge, maybe there's interesting ways to combat those mechanics.

Thoughts?

I hope the new 'main enemy' starts off as a companion so similar tech to the protagonist. Let the story wow us and not the special moves. Let the dude just be tough to kill give him armour and companions.

It would be awesome if we had to race against him to recruit the deadliest companions in the game.

Beezo

It is based on little nanomachines that can buzz around and lift objects, or push them down... and can also sting.

Spherical space stations that shoot huge green lasers at planets to destroy them.

Biological. Something that eats you from the inside.

Biological. Technorganic. I'd have every designer play the original Half-Life and watch The Mist for inspiration. B)

Interesting so maybe a hard Sci fi approach to the magic technology angle with a featured antagonist recruiting team mates (mirroring the player in ME2) alongside the transforming/assembling technology from the trailer. Possibly with a hivemind control of animal life in the level aiding thier own force. Couple that with infection features to threaten your team mates randomly forcing you to withdraw or loose a squad member.

Seeing that they will be likely to number trillions compared to setlers millions their tech can't be too superior or it would be a pointless fight for survival and we wouldn't have time to reach the end of the game before they have swarmed every last little refugee ship and killed everyone.

It would make more sense for them to be slightly inferior but for them to have a number advantage and a deffinate advantage in resources.

More and bigger funs and vehicles and less advanced rather than more advanced. Too advanced and it will all be that deusex machina that wins the game for you again, which it probably will sicne you're hunting relics from an ancient race.. sigh...

I'd love for at least one faction of aliens to have non-eezo based tech (meaning another sort of FTL-Drive and maybe even "real" energy weapons (big guns but also portable and handheld weapons!))...would shake things up a little (kinetic barriers don't work on lasers for example...and with plasma guns at least the heat would transfer if the barrier is close to the hull or the space suit!)

I'd probably make our main antagonists at least somewhat technologically inferior to the Milky Way colonists - they'll still have space travel and so on, but in a straight-up fight with even numbers, our ships would win every time - 'cause I think the dynamic could be sorta interesting: we'll have the advanced technology, but as a natural consequence of our situation as newcomers, our numbers and resources will be incredibly limited compared to theirs, so we'll have to 'play it smart'.

It'd be a little like the dynamic in Gundam Wing/00. Our mobile suits/ships will be able to beat the pants off theirs, even with a substantial numerical disadvantage, but we'll only have, like, five of them to their hundreds. So we'll have to use our resources and ships extremely sparingly.

Of course, this would lead to even more uncomfortable real-world colonialism parallels... But ultimately, they're either going to tell a sensitive and smart story about colonialism or they're not, and adding one more similarity won't really make that much of a difference.

Milky Way Tech + 1 billion years of technological development since they haven't been harvested every 50,000 years by omnicidal machine squids.

Unrecognizable tech.  One that you have to run from to survive before you get to study, understand, and counter.

One assumes for the interests of our story that we can successfully run otherwise the story would be rather short and boring.

We have lots of old tech that could be useful to defeat any foe on Andromeda. Like confusing them for a second by wearing high heels. Just long enough to get the advantage:

We know they, or least a group of them, have laser weapons like Star Wars. Which is good, because it hints of a different development of technology.

But they also don't have easy access to left behind Reaper-ish tech, the CItadel, Mass Relays, etc.

But don't you remember? The machines will always turn against and surpass their creators. According to reaper logic, which we're forced to accept in ME3, we can only encounter synthetic superspecies and their slave organics in Andromeda :P

I like for them to have a weapon called the Immobilizer. Instead of killing or wounding their enemy, it immobilizes their enemy. Similiar to stasis power.

An easy way to make the new aliens feel very alien would be to give them organic tech or make them highly hybridized with tech, like they replace organs and limbs and flesh with tech to make themselves better.

I think 2km high practically indestructible spaceships would be ideal for a third person shooter.
