Hi All!

I am sorry if this question has been discussed already (but I could find anything meaningful with the search function), so I will ask here.

Will there be any sort of prequel literature (in terms of novels/comics) in case of Andromeda (like there were so many before the actual Mass Effect came out - Revelation, and comic back-story of the Arca monolith and the evolution of Jack Harper to TIM, etc.)?

My life seems so barren without any inputs from the <ass Effect universe. I seem to have lost my purpose of living...  :(

Yes, there will be four books of which at least one is a prequel by a renown author.

I have to admit,  I'm not a big fan of filling in backstory by book.

As an example,  I played DAI before reading the books Michel in DAI had me saying what? as did Cole to a certain extent.

Loghain in DAO was handled well though.

I find it easier to read a book enhancing a character I already know,

that one introducing a character I don't.

Seeing them in the game rather breaks the ideas I had formed off the page.

Did you seriously refer to video game tie ins as "literature"?

Literature: Written works, especially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit. - Oxford English dictionary

So you're both right and wrong.

I guess if you want to argue on the part of "superior or lasting artistic merit" in *one* of its definitions, but does it being a video game tie-in really present much of a problem in and of itself?

Quite honestly, exploring the back story of the Andromeda move at the same level of detail as a book in the game would have severely bogged the pacing down. For that reason, the game was always going to involve some sort of tldr of what happened. With the book we will at least get it dramatized.

Plus, if they want to attract new gamers, they have to keep the premise simple in the start.

On the one hand, I dislike telling vital story details in books. But on the other, I am gonna be so incredibly irritated if Bioware doesn't explain the details of the Ark journey in game, to the point that I would fully be happy if it was explained in a prequel book rather than have it not explained at all. So...I will probably buy this Initiative book, at least.

I'll definitely get this, I'm quite interested in the back story in this case and I'm not patient. I do have a pretty dim view of of books based off games or even movies though. The hit rate is traditionally not very good and the last Mass Effect book was an absolute shocker.

Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiative should be on sale this August.

Other than Deception I've enjoyed the Mass Effect books. Although, Deception lead to this hilarious little gem: http://imgur.com/a/lAVji

And what if a character's BS is only shown on a terminal, like Miranda's inability to have kids. You still would of had to read it. Personally, I'm looking forward to it. Though, I have yet to finish the Star Wars "Lost Stars".

Speaking of getting "dramatized" - with reference to Mass Effect trilogy the background literature/comics gave me a whole new perspective on certain characters that I became obsessed with - Jack Harper and Anderson. The games themselves did NO justice at all to these two characters.

One won't know Anderson unless he has been through 'Revelation' (my opinion, though). On the same note, if there was only one character in the entire trilogy with the most logical, rational, unprejudiced mind - it was definitely Jack Harper - who would see the world through shades of grey and NOT only black and white (again, these are only my thoughts - and no one needs to agree on this) - I felt unless one has read Ascension, and Retribution - it's impossible to know the MAN.

Oh, for the record - I will pretend that Mass Effect Deception never happened (and I wish I could unread that trash)!!!

Is Dietz going to be writing the 2nd or 3rd novels? My heart can't take that.
