Dragon Age 4 must forget anything it may have learned from The Witcher.

This is an easily proved fact - behold my sources.

As you can see, someone as professional as Yahtzee clearly states that the games behave much like an MMO would, with lengthy quests involving running from one end to the other, fetching a certain amount of X for Y in order to get a reward of Z, hardly engaging side quests, tons upon tons of dialogue delivered poorly, and much, much more!

This leads me to the one possible outcome - Dragon Age 4 must not go the same way, and The Witcher should be seen as the one perfect example of how to NOT do it. Fetchquesting like Geralt must deal with would ruin the universe completely, and move us towards an MMO instead of a true singleplayer RPG.

Indeed I believe that the lack of success of Inquisition perceived by many is a direct result of inspiration in The Witcher! We must not allow further Witcherization of the best fantasy RPG under the sun! Make Dragon Age great again!

Well, I like the idea of open areas to run around with quests dotting the map. Optional dungeons are a plus.

Still, most focus should be on the main story, not finding hundreds of shards.

Tbh all of this is just preference tho. Like if there's one thing I really dislike about BSN is that the Witcher/DAI discussion just turns into two camps touting opinions as fact, when we all have a right to like and dislike what we do without expecting others to follow suit. And amusingly enough I've rarely (if ever) seen this topic pop up on the CDPR Witcher forums. So like can we get over this already?

Ps: Did I take this topic too seriously? It's too late for me to be entirely sure if this thread is meant to be half joke-y or not.

One should never take anything online too seriously. Bad for health.

Well, except for stuff that the government will or should get involved with.

Anyway, for BSN, if you take something seriously, it becomes funny or a joke to someone else, so everything is for fun to someone.

FYI, all my posts are absolutely objective facts. My words are canon!

I don't think the DA needs to go the route of TW (they aren't even the same type of RPG! I don't know people compare them so much or why their fans are at each other’s throats) but TW series, while not perfect, dose not play like an MMO and is certainly much less like one with its sidequests than the DAI is. TW3 is actually really good with its side quest variation, especially if you don't have your eyes glued to the quest tracker. Specifically in that area I wouldn't mind if they took some pointers.

Also "someone as professional as Yahtzee”. Have I walked into a troll topic? I have nothing against Yahtzee, he can be entertaining and make some good points but he not very professional, his word is not gospel and he isn't above intentionally missing the point and gross exaggerations to support his argument or for comedic affect. His opinion holds no more weight than anyone else.

If anything, Bioware should look at EVERY recently released RPG and take good parts from ALL of them.

It was really dumb how Inquisition was set during a war and they never once took anything from Final Fantasy Type-0. Type-0 has a lot of good ideas for a wartime storyline, yes it is grinding, but don't take those grindy parts :(.

The difference is that in the Elder Scrolls games, you can continue following the side quests, fraction quests, whatever quests, after the main quest line is done - if you want. And you probably want it, because that are interesting.

Props for the "Make Dragon Age great again". Just combine the two games and create Dragon Witcher or Witcher Age!

As a person that played MMOs for a long LONG time, have recently bought the Witcher 3 and played 25h of it and so far it feels preety MMOish to me. And I finished DAI 3 times, so so far I think that the Witcher 3 feels Mmoish for me sure Dragon Age can learn some things from the Witcher 3, but not so much.

Again I am only 25h into the Witcher 3 so I cant really say my opinion about the whole game.

Nah, the structure of the game is much closer to SW:tOR or GW2. Or probably other MMOs but I don't play very many.

Skyrim/Elder Scrolls for all the open world hype is really all about the dungeons, while there are pretty few dungeons in DAI. And Skyrim's open world is a single entity, not divided into seperate zones.

I'm not interested in the "Witcher 3 vs DA:I" debate, but I will say this; Novigrad is a city done right. Not Kirkwall, certainly not Val Royeaux, not even Denerim or Amaranthine. Novigrad (and to a lesser extent Oxenfurt) actually felt like a living, breathing city, and not some overgrown town or village. I hope they try to emulate Novigrad when they're designing Minrathous for DA4.

Mot that I do not agree with you(the post above, I have a prob with quote for some reason) I do think that cities in the DA games can be much better
But do tell me why people only talk about Novigrad, like seriously have none of you ever played any AC games? Why Novigrad specificlly?

Because Novigrad is the most recent city that feels like a city in an RPG. Assassins Creed isn't an RPG.

Yes, both are open world's. They are on par with that. In fact, they are on par in many respects. The only reason why they aren't brought into discussion is because they aren't role playing games.

I am going to just assume the OP is being facecious.  Except for DA:Origins, Witcher 3 is probably the best RPG ever released.   I don't think any game that took ideas from Witcher 3 would suffer for it.
