The lack of consistency in visual styles and gameplay mechanincs between DA titles is just hurts me so much.
That's an issue that i can personally overcome the futility of choices is what i cannot bear.

Guess the most interesting would be the mysteries of the past which you can uncover through myth , art etc...I like speculations and crazy theories.
Less interesting is I feel the DA franchise is getting less grim/dark in a matter of speaking. For example in the Hinterland you can read this awful codex about a hunter stumbling on peasent getting burned alive by mages and then templars finish the survivors and one tries to rape a burnt women.I'm not saying I want the game to get this graphic but it's kind of a shame in game the Hinterland feels like a picnic and the more traumatising stuff are the bears.
Second would be pop culture reference , I don't mind some and I can find those amusing but when I've read a number of Cole lines were pop culture reference about movies with angels and nothing to do with the game lore ...my reaction was Are You Freaking Kidding Me....

I haven't played any games with such wonderfully well written characters, and I love being able to shape who I want to be.
This just about sums it up for me as well. Also playing very powerful magic wielding characters as well I like too. I love the idea of playing a character that can set an enemy's hair on fire just by merely thinking about it.

When I play Dragon Age..... I start out like this:

And eventually end up like this:
And that should give you some idea.
Perfectly put. *applauds*

A game/comic/book series with one of the best Fantasy Settings I've ever encountered, filled with some of the best written characters I've ever seen in a game franchise. Yet, frustratingly, over and over, it seems Bioware has a little trouble actually writing stories properly using that Setting and those characters to their greatest potential. ![]()
The first step in fixing the character part ... stop putting characters in stories they don't belong, just because their popular characters Bioware. Their presence always seems stiff and forced and whenever you do such a thing you wrench the focus away from the characters that actually should matter.

I like being able to develop my characters and make them my own. From this point of view I preferred DAO and DAI to DA2 because Hawke was pretty much set up with little room for variety beyond some variation in character traits. The thing is I am now so invested in my canon Inquisitor that I really want to be able to finish the storyline with Solas with him rather than someone new who has no real personal involvement. Still, provided the next game gives me some scope to develop my new PC as unique to me then I'll probably get over my disappointment.
I find it harder to accommodate plot lines that seem to contradict previous lore. I really do not find it believable that the southern Chantry clergy would vote in a mage as Divine, however well connected or loyalist they are. Time travel really did not fit with the game world and came out of nowhere so far as the lore was concerned. Tying it to the Breach was not really a good enough explanation for why it was suddenly possible.
The darker elements that were either seen or hinted at in DAO have really been watered down of late. There hasn't been the sort of creepy experience like meeting Hespith in the Deep Roads. There have been lots of bodies lying around but it just looked like part of the scenery without the personal connection that truly fills you with horror. No one would know from DAI just what bastards the Chevaliers can be towards the peasant class. We may not have actually experienced that first hand in DAO but we did have the personal testimony of those who had.
I always approached enemy mages with trepidation in DAO and even in DA2. They showed how devastating a blood mage attack can be or in fact any magic attack for which you were unprepared. I used to like the way I had to scout ahead and plan carefully how I was going to confront them or if taken by surprise, then close as quickly as I could before they did serious damage to my party. In DAI I ended up focussing on taking out the enemy rogues rather than worrying about their mages. The Venatori were meant to be from Tevinter but you'd never know it from the limited range of spells and lack of offensive clout. With the lack of abominations in DAI and the generally weaker enemy mages, it really seemed odd what the southerners were so worried about. I felt that DAO showed far better the dangers associated with forbidden magic and untrained mages.
I loved the choice of spells and mage specialisations in DAO and have been somewhat disappointed how they have been reduced in scope and variety ever since. Still I live in hope that since we are heading for Tevinter next, the decline will be reversed and we will see some really interesting magic emerge.
I enjoy exploring and discovering new lore but it does annoy me when I can't fully explore the ramifications of my discoveries with my companions or my PC is made to appear stupid for not realising things sooner. It is also rather irritating when I discover something that really my PC should have known about, for example a Dalish not being aware of their own history.

Time travel made sense to me it was an unique form of magic available only into the veil world when it was damaged by the breach. How Alexius was able to achieve such understanding is unknown, not even Solas knew that.I find it harder to accommodate plot lines that seem to contradict previous lore.

This in theory....Fantasy world with potential. The fact it tries to focus on it's history and world, not a single character, is a huge plus.
In practice they do the opposite with the degree of cameos..

In terms of gaming experience what is that you find interesting or not interesting about the series?
I find almost everything interesting the missions the quests the different kind of areas my companions ( friends ) who are all well written the romance options the other people you meet. And there are probably some things that i forgot to mention.

While the DA series is no Final Fantasy or LOTR it does have its own merits. I like the character interaction and overall game play.
What I don't like.
BW should address several things including the poor writing that leads to WTH moments in the story line. In 2016 there is no reason or excuse for that seeing none of my other RPGs has that issue including some that dates back to the 90s..
