I'm looking for the best element to pair with Solas' Rift Mage spec. I want to at least grad barrier and its upgrade. I want to know what element pairs better with his spec while making him a good support.

Either one, really. And when you have enough points, do both.
If Solas is the only mage in the party, I go into Inferno first and make him an offensive pyromage, until he fills out the Rift tree. If he is the second mage in the party, I go into Winter first and make him a more defensive/support mage.
One of the cool things, pun intended, that he can do in Winter is create his own combo opportunities. Ice Mine Freezes enemies, which he can then Shatter with Stonefist.

Like papacharlie9 said, if hes the second mage, i make him more defensive and support. He provides barrier, Crowd Control, Slows down enemies, and weakens them. If i make him more offensive, i switch him to inferno.
