What if the races of Andromeda aren't so hyper-advanced that they can wipe us out because they transitioned to digital societies a long time ago? If they discarded their physical forms to live as data in a digital world then they would logically pose no threat to us and we would pose no threat to them. No fighting over land or resources.

Or we could wipe the servers, just for the laughs. And Renegade points, but those are apparently a thing of the past in Andromaderp.

Obviously we wipe the servers so we can loot them for our own purposes.

But why would beings of such advanced technology rely on a single, unprotected server? Even Earthly corporations and government agencies use redundant servers.

It's like you've never seen Tron. Or Digimon.

Just pull the plug out.  Sorted.

Or spill a cup of coffee over the motherboard.

Sounds like a very boring universe. Interesting subject for a book, but not for a video game. No conflict = no fun.

Well thats one way of explaining where the older races and their machines went, if indeed the majority of races we encounter in the Helios cluster will be about the same level as us. Even tough you'd think since with no reapers, there would be far more advanced civs around. Unless theres some power in Andromeda similar to the reapers, which also resets the clock every now and then(remnants perhaps).

Upload zetabytes of memes into their database and watch their societies collapse. Then we interface with it and screw with the natives with our digital avatars.

Social decay or decline could help in a story angle, they could be hyper advanced but have divided as thier society succumb to thier own success. You could have your Virtual aliens with the transforming buildings we saw in the trailer but have them socially individual between groups. They could've broken off into separete species like the transhuman angle or fractured ideologically because of culture shock having found some great knowledge that tore thier culture apart. It would be like a tribe that had kept itself isolated from the world migrated out of thier home and met a post-apocalpytic modern society. The main angle could be that they're too busy infighting to deal with us?

We would upload a virus from a Macbook ala Independence day movie.

logically though,  then there would be no story and hence no game.

A typical sleepy Tuesday morning in Andromaderp? Spill some coffee to kill an extremely advanced alien race!

Why wouldn't a hyper-advanced digital race not have protection?

Did they forget there were meat aliens out there with bombs?

In fact... like the myth Terra Cotta Army... I would imagine vast vaults of robots prepared to be inhabited just for such occasions.

You inadvertently leaked the plot. The antagonist is a terracotta army.

Well - maybe they should go with a little bit more modern composite ceramics.   :)

I don't think that's going to happen because digital aliens would make for boring companions/enemies.

Yes, but now my already digital character has to interact in a digital manner to someone that would already be digital if they were a standard character. I guess it could work with one or two characters, but to have to interact with a whole race like that would be weird and awkward.
