Simple example Jack is hotter with her alternate costume than the Nipple-tania

It's kind of over-emphasizes how naked she is which is just weird, we get it, she's not wearing any clothes, but the design has this exaggerated emphasis on her breasts which makes it more lurid than if it had just been something else like in the first pic.

Really?

exaggerated emphasis? lurid? naked?

Interesting reaction.

Im pretty sure you can get skimpy space suits or pressure suits that they could put on

Those would at least provide some modicum of protection against the extreme environments of the vacuum of space, or a hostile atmosphere.

Something like this:

Not so much

They both look stupid.

Apart from looking stupid, with Jack being a teacher in ME3,  lack of armor is understandable.  Shabby dress standards for a school though.

But they did drop all those things. I get caring about this stuff, but Bioware obviously doesn't.

I think it's the fans here at BSN who just love to argue from both sides of the coin at the same time... pressing for space-fictional "realism" on one side while arguing against IRL military realism in the same breath... and I think Bioware just tries to appease it's fans a little too much... so it appears like they just can't make up their minds as to what direction they want to take things.

Personally, I don't think ME:A will be a "military" operation at all... so attire will most likely be individualistic... and as I've said before, I'm OK with that on a civilian ship... I won't then be trying to role play a military commander.... still don't relish sleeping in my LI in full armor though.

I suppose I am in the player choice camp.  While I would prefer that squadmates look like they are in functional armor not silly armor (eg dalish bikini armor) on missions, I don't care what they are in necessarily on the ship or out of combat.

I am not going to be inclined to buy a DLC to alter their combat appearance regardless.

Well, she is most likely the only exception on the teacher staff. (Because her exceptional potential apparently)

Or that could had been her "off-duty" clothes and then cerberus attacked.

Yes but thats the male armour not the female

1. Us men can have revealing armor too

2. The female version is pretty much the same

It's not necessarily the same fans, though. And for most prople "realism" really means "the unrealistic aesthetic that doesn't bother me." The space fictional realism being unrealistic by it's very nature, for example.

That being said I thought ME wasn't particularly militaristic. Shepard wasn't exactly in the military once he became a Spectre technically but ME1 is not very good at conveying that one, and his authority over the Normandy and it's crew was twofold (i.e., given to him by the Alliance and technically deriving from his being a Spectre). So it's not unreasonable that Shepard would or could equip a fire team out of uniform. And only Ashley and Kaidan are actually military - Tali is basically a nomad, Wrex is a mercenary, Garrus is an unemployed ex-cop, and Liara is a scientist. Really apart from Wrex being a mercenary your party is allocated civilians. And ME2 takes that even further.

Freudian slip, perhaps?... s/b "sleeping with my LI in full armor" :D - but, then again, they could be aliens so who knows what "getting together" might entail.

Depends. Games like Xenoblade Chronicles where you can dress every character in the same silver bathing suit and armor sets kind of dilute the experience for me. I feel the same about ME1's armor sets. I like the idea of characters having a handful of armors designed specifically for them...sexy armor if it suits their character.

I assume ME:A has done away entirely with the "sexy" body/jumpsuit worn by EDI (yes I know technically it was part of her body) and Miranda. And something that Jack used will most likely also not exist. And I wonder why? They did it with DA:I; the player character could never use anything else but practical armor and clothes.

Sure I understand why: To avoid controversy. To avoid getting hammered by people who think it's demeaning.

But have anyone that think it's wrong with revealing/sexy armor ever played the Sims 4? What about Second Life? What about the numerous MMORPG's out there? There are tons of female players, like myself, who actually enjoy and prefer the sexy armor. Why? Because choice? If you get the practical armor, why should we not get the sexy? How would that hinder your gameplay in any way? Second Life and Sim 4, and earlier sims games, have a large amount of women who mods their own clothing and the most popular clothing is not the 2 layers skiing suit that reveal nothing...

Of course I know I'm talking about something that will not change because I don't think we need another potential shitstorm that would happen if BW added a bunch of sexy armor, even if they added lots of practical ones.

In the end, as I said, I'm asking for the choice. Not for BW to replace all female armors with a chain mail bikini. It's not about all or nothing. And yes you can have a skintight bodysuit that gives good protection and also look sexy and cool, all at the same time.

Samara's and Jack's armor never bothered me too much, but I guess it was because their characters were so unique and visually distinct that it didn't seem cheap or dumb.

Sexy armor for the protagonist is different since...the protagonist is undefined and random sexy armor is....an arbitrary projection of player meta taste into a world otherwise carefully designed to be a visually consistent bubble unto itself. It looks out of place and increases the essence of stupidity.

Midriffs, whatever, and all that really isn't for everyone...

Like think of that woamn in 50 Shades of Gray, ewwww vomit induced, because you know she was freaked out the whole time, she can't pull it off.

In a gaming context, I think most gaming heroic protagonists are usually sort of "sexy" but nipple tape is not something that works for them without it feeling pornographic.

Or

Which one is cuter? It's Aeris it just fits better... exhibiting whatever you are comfortable with is the most attractive thing.

I kind of agree with IMG though Jack just doesn't look good either way, in all honestly I don't think any of the ME characters can really pull it off.

I don't really think ME characters can pull it off...

So basically it boils down to me a series of questions

1. Are we talking about a clumsy outfit that just looks ugly no matter what or who is wearing it? Well then it's a design thing.

2. Are we talking about a western franchise or an eastern (Japan, Korea, China) one? In general I'm more inclined to believe it if it is eastern only because they tend to have more of a "this is actual confidence" thing not because it's impossible.

3. Is it some kind of weird otaku anime or comic Harle Quinn fetish thing or is it part of like a kind of mega thing like DMC or Resident Evil or Bioware or something, because while I don't judge weird otaku anime or excessively crazy Poison Ivy wear leaves for clothes I just don't believe those are images of confidence, rather, it is somewhat uncomfortable for those people.

Like I think DMC and DoA have pretty good ones

Spoiler

Or DOA

Spoiler

FF

Spoiler

Sometimes western franchises pull it off maybe like Rayne from Bloodrayne or some costumes from SWTOR and Bioware

Spoiler

Mostly though it does seem like a strain, Jack comes off as super ugly no matter how you spin it whereas like Satele from KOTOR

Spoiler

So yeah I think some of this is sort of a boyfriend/girlfriend thing, the boyfriend or girlfriend isn't comfortable themselves with sexy stuff, but they are ok and actually like when someone else does it for them. I ship Bioware and SQENIX

Anyway, the remainder is just because we're drowning in imagery of half naked people etc from media all over but it's got a bad reputation because it never feels honest (because it often isn't)

Agreed.

Jack is a non-conformist and doesn't' give a rat's azz about what people think.  So the artists and writers came up with a character that visually looks like a reject from a death camp or something.  And, I think it was a deliberate creation to show that Jack is a social rebel.

Yes, Jack is unappealing, is not visually sexy, is not naked and is flat chested. The harness looks like a bondage paraphernalia... all very uncouth, all very unsexy, all very un-appealing.  Yet, in one play through, I romanced her. Surprise... her inner self is a much better person than her outward looks.

Actually I think Tali was military partly because her father and I believe she served undre Admiral Gerrel and the Heavy fleet was supposed to be the quarians military arm for a time as well between ME1 and 2. In a sense so was Garrus because in the days before he was a cop on the Citadel he was supposed to have been a military officer for the Turians I believe it's actually mentioned when you talk to him in a convresatoin when Shep asks him" Do you regret leaving C sec or the Turian Military?" during ME2. Wrex may not have been military but he ws a mrec so did have some combat experience. Liara's really the only one who's not military and dosen't have any military training. In fact meeting Shep was the first time she ever had to use a gun and her biotics in order to defend herself so in a sense most if not all your team is military trained in ME1. In ME2's defence though you are working for a rogue group so it's more understandable that you can't get quite so many military operatives there.
