I didn't want to get into it but part of the issue is that the Turians and Quarians are basically fascists. Their idea of a military isn't quite like our idea of military. But my point wasn't that they didn't have martial backgrounds - it's that on the Normandy they were civilians, and not professional soldiers at the time they joined (Garrus was a cop and Tali a nomadic explorer).

maybe not but just because their militaries are different from ours dosen't mean they're not and we recruit them because they do have military expertise. The only person in that first game we don't recruit for that purpose is Liara and we recruit her mostly because we need her help to understand the Protheans and that's before we get to thje fact that her mother's working for the enemy.

Sure, some people are gonna complain about "objectified this" and "unrealistic that", but these days there are almost always some people who will complain about literally anything that is sexualized. I (and hopefully Bioware) don't really care what sex negative blowhards think about it.

So yeah, I'm not worried about them removing smexy armor. I like sexy armor, so does Bioware, and so does the majority of their fans.

I don't care what anyone say. I LOVE fanservice, but fan service is often only happening to girls. It's not really sexist toward women if both men and women are treated as objects. :P

Just saying.

tumblr_n2ianguUw41sytvcuo7_250.gif

Even just outside of fanservice, there are people in real life like to dress in skimpy or revealing outfits. If it fits with the characters, then I don't see why not. If Bioware is truly progressive then the idea of nude or tight clothing shouldn't be a subject of sexualizing, but just a matter of preference.

everyone loves fan service Hence the name.

yep, plus it doesn't mean what some people think it does, anything thats supposed to make you go wow/cool/awesome is fan service.

personally some tasteful "fanservice" outfits would be good. and if they happen to be on the squishier characters thats fine.

Armor needs to be practical. This is space and unknown planets we're talking about. However, in casual situations it would be nice to have a choice for something sexy to wear if you want.

Just make us built and give us plenty of casual wear options. Speaking of which we may not have them at all. I believe they said that we have one outfit and our armor pieces connect with it.That's a nice middle finger bioware. But we'll see.

I agree.

Yes, I know that a combat vessel isn't the place for sexy-wear (like in the captain's quarters), but perhaps the DLCs can offer us more clothing options during casual down times. I wonder if a romance-focused DLC would work. Rather than nudity, I'd like to have my FemProtagonist wear a sheer outfit - which I find is far more sexy to see (my husband agrees).

I don't know that I would wear anything revealing, but I certainly would love something tight fitting. I hate bulky armor more than anything. I believe it's in the realm of the world's possibility, with shields and kinetic barriors. Personally, I loved the light armor from the first Mass Effect and I would be so happy to see it returned.

That being said, if they added a couple of revealing armors, I wouldn't mind. I don't have to wear it and I absolutely don't give two butts what someone else is wearing in their game. I hate bulky armors, but I don't mind those being an option for others. You want to show cleavage? Be my guest.

I think we'll see more like the armor that we've already seen in ME1 that Ashley was wearing (when we first met her), as it was prominently featured on FemRyder.

*shrug*  I don't see what the big deal is, unless this is gonna turn into one of those romance/hair threads.  But I should know, I've been around BSN long enough to know.  This is gonna end in somebody screaming at somebody else and the thread's gonna get locked down.  Because this is the dreaded "SJW" thread, taken from a different angle.

How are they fascists? Also all Turians receive military training at the age of 16 incase you didn't know. Garrus had training and cops aren't necessarily civilians obviously. They have training. Tali was trained by Kal Reegar.

Sometimes I feel like I am the only one with the standpoint of "I don't care what others wear in their games" It's like caring what others are doing in the privacy of their own bedroom. It's good to see someone else with a similar mindset in therms of that.

So long as bioware gives options on both spectrum as being sexy and being practical then there shouldn't be an issue for those that want to.

Heck on topic as far as Jack and Samara goes with their clothing of choice they are the two strongest biotics in the game. They can project a strong enough barrier they don't need armor exactly. Miranda is more of a spy and direct combat is not her mode of engagement. As for heels in the argument while I haven't worn them in my life I cant help but think people are unrealistic that heels cannot be worn in active combat when I see Dancing with the Stars and the girls are doing what they do in heels.

I don't care what other people wear in their games, but I care about having a good selection of armours that I like in my game, and the resources available for that are limited.

Its the same reason I get annoyed at all the Cerberus branded armour and clothing in ME2 and ME3 - in practice this limits my options because its stuff my Shepard would never wear.

And unless they decide to separate stats from appearance, mechanical choices are limited too.

No thanks to revealing armor. I don't need my character or companions to be sexualized by the devs. Off-duty clothing is a bit different but I'm still wary of mostly male devs designing what they think is 'sexually empowering' outfits for women. I'm just not convinced that the devs can tease out the difference between sexualization of women and women owning their sexuality. Usually, attempts at adding sexy to the game have nothing to do with empowering women as the devs are more concerned with titillating their audience. I, for one, don't want a slew of trashy lingerie labeled as 'casual outfits' for my characters under the guise of how empowering it is for my character to expose herself on the ship.

On a related note, have some funny:

I like my characters to look pretty, I'm not a fan of big bulky armour but I also want the outfits my characters wear to look plausible in the setting. That rarely means skimpy, strategically placed pieces of material that I'm told is protective because of X and Y but really doesn't look like it is.

Biotics, like kinetic barriers, only protects you from small fast-moving objects.  Not slower objects like a charging krogan, or fire, or toxins (like a chlorine atmosphere)  or radiation.  You also have to be conscious and aware of potential dangers to project biotic fields

As for heels, combat rarely takes place on a nice, level, uncluttered dance floor.

Yeah, and the dancing on DWTS is choreographed practiced moves. Not like combat at all.

Kinetic-barrier-generating metallic nipples. It's the future, that's all you need. Who wants to walk around covered in ceramic plates like a medieval man?

I expect fully volumetric, physics-powered penises and testicles from Bioware. It's 2016 and I'm tired of the gaming industry's complete neglect of the natural male form.
