I hope there isn't any boob plate armor. I'd rather people be in catsuits than that nonsense.

Makes sense for females with boobs to have boob armour.
Still pretty tame compared to 40K space marines

Yeah. But, space marines are genetically modified to be BIG!
Yeah but our eyes say differently. They're fine I suppose.<<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

I feel like with the bodysuits and stuff, it should just make sense. If you're using heavy weapons and taking the "meat shield" role, then your armor should probably be bigger and bulkier. If your fighting style requires speed and evasion, then it would make sense that you wear something lighter and less likely to impede your motions. I think the "problem" is that it often just doesn't make sense how they choose to design armor. A female warrior character in a chain mail bikini doesn't make sense. It's always the females that wear almost nothing and always the guys in bulky armor. They should make the armor fit the style the individual wearing it and they shouldn't always make the females the ones that have the "sleek" and "revealing" outfits. It's really just an issue of practicality and balance. I think sleek bodysuits could be practical, depending on the character, but it shouldn't be an excuse just to focus on a super hot girl's butt and have her suit unzipped down to her bellybutton all the time. That's impractical objectification.

Giving the armor 'boobs' makes the armor less practical. Its not any different than chain mail bikinis in usefulness. At least the latter gives more eye candy.
It's not less practical. Women have boobs and depending on size how else you gonna fit em in there. Just saying. It's not impractical.Giving the armor 'boobs' makes the armor less practical. Its not any different than chain mail bikinis in usefulness. At least the latter gives more eye candy.

Former member of our military, here is an example of what one might see a modern female soldier wearing. Now, this isn't the most curvaceous example of a female but you can see how we're currently doing it. One of my good friends, who still currently serves, is a 34DD and is issued regulation "mens" armor. She says that since her breasts are able to compress quite a bit it isn't a terrible thing but other women have to pursue variations on the chest that never seem to quite get it right. Just wanted to show one of the options that we currently use, if only to point out that "boob cups" are ridiculous but a little extra room for a lady that needs it won't necessarily turn them into mountainous eye magnets (Ash in ME3).
All this assuming we're part of a para-militaristic group, if we're a civilian outfit then the sky's the limit but I would like to see hazardous conditions result in steps to prevent eye exploding out of sockets etc ![]()
Now practical armors are appealing enough, well to me.
I'm not looking at dat ass.
As well as the pathfinder armor is super awesome. Revealing armor just doesn't quite make sense when it comes to exploring uncharted planets. It's suicide in this case.
Ladies in Titanfall look badass in those armors too.
How are boob cups bad anyway? This is a videogame we are talking about. I'm pretty sure the same amount of protection is given if it were a male in battle armor. They are apparently not a problem in Mass Effect considering that there is no hindrance in protection.

Hard to argue with that
but I think what I mean is that, assuming we're part of a military, it would help my immersion if it was similar to the uniformity I generally associate with the military, whether it be more for financial or psychological or tactical issues. But since we're dealing with a fictional universe I think that whatever they've (game developers) defined as status quo is what we should reference. So then I have to agree with you that boob cups (or whatever phrase ya want) will provide the same amount of protection as the male version of that armor, whether because of biotics, shields, or materials.

The breast part of armor is usually extra thick because it protects your heart, and if you hollow out two cups its not going be as effective at protecting your heart from blows, bullets, or whatever.
I'll admit in sci-fi you can just say technology has advanced to the point you can have that luxury or cosmetic if you want it, but I think it looks ridiculous. BioWare sorta went away from boob cups in DA:I and DA:2, so I hope they do in ME:A too. I can't recall Cassandra and Aveline having them in their armor anyways. I can't speak for a female warrior PC tho I never played one.

Whatever, that stuff belongs on floors, not on people.
Nude spacesuits. It's the future.
People can make armour mods if they like.
Vanilla ME:A = full frontal hanging awesomeness.

I like flat chested woman, so no boobs armor please.

Ahhhh, yes it is impractical. Ask the women. Stuffing your boobs in hard armor cups is not the best and most comfortable thing in the world, its better to wear a sports bra and have a slightly concave armor plate on your chest. That provides just as much boob space, its more comfortable, it does not force body parts into a specific shape, its much better from a protective standpoint and a sleek design is always better. That's also how armor works today.
but, but, but concave armor makes the protagonist look fat. Both male and female. jk.

Boobs cups would probably chafe and hurt. Underwire bras are bad enough to wear. Imagine stuffing your balls into a protruding hard armor cup designed just to emphasize your manliness. Does it sound comfortable and conducive to combat readiness?

Subject title is eye catching so I was lurking watching the ping pongs.
Of all the armor sets from ME 1 - 3, this is the only visually pleasing and practical armor that appeared in the trilogy I preferred for femShep.

I agree. ME actually had a couple of pretty good armors but this one was by far the best, this is what all my male and female Shepards wore.
I used mix-match with different parts but the chest and greaves were Hahne-Kedar

Eh, female fencers wear "boob cups" as part of their protection. Obviously the forces involved are quite a bit less which is probably why many of the criticisms of boob armour don't apply, but if it was actually uncomfortable I assume they'd go for something else.
As I was never a fencer, I have to cite someone else on the subject;
"I was also a female fencer, and at least when I was in high school, we were required to wear plastic chest protectors as well as cloth underarm guards called plastrons. (Most of us would have voluntarily anyway, because OW.) But they come in two styles: one flat, and one with boob cups. A lot of the women I fenced with chose the flat one for the exact same point made in this article: if you’re hit at an angle, you want the blade to slide away from your body in the hopes that it might not hit hard enough to score a point. Or, as the case may be, kill you."

Not a fencer but looking at the boob cup version vs the flat version, the flat definitely looks more comfortable. Would have to let a fencer speak to that though. I've used protective armor and vests for martial arts and horseback riding and never had to use anything that contoured my boobs for protection. The boob armour version is just unnecessary and often deadly as Shec noted.
