Why does it always have to be a versus thread? Why is it always either or, as if choice is such a crippling concept?

Revealing, Practical and variations in between in NPCs is only realistic

Ummm, no. It's the opposite of realistic. Practical is the only realistic choice.

He just wants to be able to have more choices. Maybe depending on the type of planet squadmates can wear different outfits of your choosing.

It really depends on what style MEA chooses to follow.

Do they do like ME1, the not-really-hard-but-still-not-quite-soft science fiction, and go for fairly realistic, NASA inspired armor designs? Or do they imitate the wannabe Marvel movie ME2, and go all in with Rule of Cool and Rule of Sexy?

I find them both just as legitimate, if we ignore the inconsistency. It seems like MEA will be going for the former, based on what we've seen on trailers. Time will tell.

One of the DLCs for XCOM2.

That exists solely so that I can get my squad of newbs murdered because my A-team was beat up and then HEY BERSERKER QUEEN. I didn't wear her hide for the stats. I wore it for spite. Actually, with the anarchy dlc (or whatever it's called), you can get an interesting combination of reasonable xcom armor and 'what the fresh cyberpunk hell is that'. And then the random dude whose kit you didn't bother with because OMIGAWD LET'S JUST GO WHATEVER ROOKIES DIE ANYWAY shows up shirtless in Bermuda shorts.

Captain Obvious is neither revealing nor practical. He is fantastic.

Shen's Last Gift is very buggy, but it does add MECs 2.0 as a playable class, and the story mission associated with it is actually pretty good.

Poor Bioware.  I don't think any other company gets such opinionated fans that feel so entitled to their wishes for design.  We all have our own tastes, I can respect that, but lets just leave the design up to the designers.  They win/lose no matter what they choose because they can't please everyone.  My suggestion, play it on PC and learn to mod.  You might be able to put some clunky gear on your female characters to get your design fix.  Or pretend it's exactly the way you want it.  The imagination is a strong thing.

Not trying to be rude or trollish.  Just trying to say there is only so much to ask of a gaming company that is realistic.  Changing design or adding additional options is a big deal.  A huge part of their process is cutting out material at the end and it's difficult enough for them as it is.  If I'm not mistaken, there has been enough bulky gear for the female player for the most part in the first three installations of ME.  Isn't that good enough?

*Sigh*

FumikoM ALWAYS makes the same thread every time until it gets locked. I remember a few years back there was the same exact thread that she made in the DAI forum and it did not end well at all. It devolved into a "lets have hentai/porn armor" versus "lets have realistic/full chainmail armor."

It shouldn't be a surprise, but this isn't Second Life or The Sims. MEA will not be an MMORPG (Second Life is more of an internet dating service than an MMO) and it's unlikely it's going to have much of a modding community either. It's also worth noting BioWare is not a JRPG developer, which is where you are more likely to see skimpy armor that is made purely for fan service.

I would have thought after the last few threads about the SAME THING that she would have learned by now. What she wants is something BioWare is unlikely to accommodate. Unless they make companions whose personalities fit that kind of outfit (Miranda, Jack, EDI, etc.), there's just no reason the main protagonist, who is going to be N7, should be running around in a chain bikini in space.

I'm sorry, but this is common sense folks. Mass Effect is about space exploration, great characters, and a great story. Mass Effect is NOT about stripper armor and wearing as little as you can. This is a 3rd person RPG shooter, not a dress up simulator. Of course, given her track record she'll likely continue to make these pointless threads anyway. Oh well.

Heh, nice to see some things haven't changed 'round here.

For me, I'm of the opinion that the companions should wear whatever they want on the ship. I don't think that Miranda is overly sexualized due to her catsuit (nor the butt-cam, it just looks awkward) or Jack because of the boob straps. When I first saw Jack, my first thought wasn't "OMG! She's wearing so little she's sexualized!" My first thought was, "Wow. Okay, if she can dress like that in this setting, she's dangerous." If that's what they are comfortable in the ship, then that's awesome. I also think that those looks would be okay by me on certain planets (I.e Virmire before it got nuked.) Especially for biotics.

However, if the quest involves going to the cold vacuum of space or a very hostile climate, I don't want any exposed flesh. I didn't like it on a gameplay level because it was inconsistent. It was jarring for me to go from ME1 with planet hazards to ME2 with exposed flesh and breather masks. Haestrom was sited as an example of that inconsistency in the same game. If it hadn't been apart of the gameplay in ME1, I wouldn't have cared at all. Seriously, I've seen much dumber/unrealistic things in games and other media.

The problem for me was that they made a pretty big deal about the fact that there was a lot of hostile or "post garden" worlds. That those worlds required the squad to have extra protection. Stick to the lore or retcon it to say, "Thanks to massive improvements in shield tech, we can use shields alone to protect explorers while in space. This would work well on most planets that would be otherwise difficult to traverse. Some however, don't trust the technology and continue to use the more bulky and traditional armor." Something like that would work. It would be pretty shallow, but at least there would be an excuse built into the lore.

I prefer the shape of armor ala Miranda's alt appearance, and I bought the appearance pack just for that alone. I'm down with more choices for the PC and the squad that they don't have to play for. Frankly as long as they are covered properly with actual helms, I'm fairly neutral on the subject. I think the glimpse I've seen of Sally (my nickname for the lady Ryder) with her armor seems like a good middle ground. I don't like most examples boob armor in games because it looks very uncomfortable and I think it looks stupid. I'm not going to advocate getting rid of the style completely, but I'd like to put my companions in more sturdy looking armor if I want to.

I do like DA:I's approach to creating companion looks. It's a heck of a lot better than doing it as a DLC package. On the other hand, I'm not enamored with armor crafting. I'd like a least a smaller version of that customization available though.

Thanks. Good to see you outside of the DA forums. :) I've been backing off of the BSN over the last few days. I'm a little burned out on the forums and not playing any BW games at the moment. Time for a nap now that the sun is down and then a little Saints Row the 3rd later.
