Forgive me, but what in Hell's name is the point of armor with separated buttcheeks?

Its job is to make the teens and those with questionable taste playing the game go all oh là là.

It is dumb from a design perspective, let alone practicality (have fun sitting in any kind of vehicle or chair with your butt cheeks stuck in egg shells) but I'm perfectly ok with this as long as I'll have tasteful alternatives that make actual sense.

I am always amused when people go "I love fanservice" then go on to explain why they'd want less fanservice-y aesthetics. Just say so, why the start in the opposite direction? You don't have to appear "understanding" to the "other side".

Yeah, nuanced opinions are heresy. Everyone should simply be pro-fanservice or anti-fanservice, no in-betweens possible  :P.

I'm completely fine with fanservice that makes some sense. Show people with revealing clothing in civilian life or off-duty, assuming the Tempest is as loose on military regulations as the Normandy was. Have people naked when they have sex, of course. I'm also OK with form-fitting armor unless it gets really ridiculous (not a fan of wedgies on armor, to be honest, on yoga pants I approve but when made of ceramic plates? yeow).

But nobody cares how hawt you look when bullets are whizzing past their heads. So when you're going into battle, kindly wear something that indicates you take it the least bit seriously, and leave the form-fitting space blouse for the club where it belongs.

That's barely fanservice, that's more being non-ridiculous. Of course they're going to be naked -or as naked as the desired rating allows- when they have sex, that's to be expected. Fanservice really starts when you start bending "normal" visuals to move your creation's aesthetics in a more titillation-focused area.

Samara's dominatrix suit and MILF status make me think this particular piece of fanservice was targeted at people who're really itching for a good...

Ahem. You get my drift.

Is it dominatrix-like? Maybe, I guess, but I kind of just thought she looked "out of time"... it kind of blended well with her whole "Knight Errant" thing. She partly looks like a fantasy character.

I like the suit, but find the cleavage odd. Samara is not a character that's really interested in sex or flaunting her appearance. The design doesn't really fit her, I find.

I could totally see Morinth rocking that design, but ironically the sex-fueled space vampire is dressed far more modestly than her duty-bound, knight errant mother for some reason.

You know, I agree. I wasn't entirely paying attention to this whole conversation, so if it was about the cleavage, sorry for going a little off topic. But yeah, the cleavage is odd. But the basic look was cool (colors, textures, etc).

Maybe it comes from the general notion that Asari, especially Matriarches, are comfortable with their sexuality and enjoy the looks they receive?

This is true, at least somewhat. Asari are very sexually aware and comfortable with their bodies. Most Asari become dancers in their youth and Samara actually tells you she was a wild child, which led her to make some wrong decisions and she contracted some asari std. Maybe she had always dressed that way. Making a choice to become celibate doesn't take away your self esteem, or even her sexual awareness.

Edit: I will say this: Her boobs looked like two grapefruits that had been galvanized. They looked unnaturally round and like they'd be hard. Weird, in my opinion.

I'm of two minds on this, because on the one hand I don't think there was any thought behind Samara's outfit design outside of sex appeal, with very little effort to try to explore the characters min'dset about the way she dresses.

On the other hand, I don't think it makes sense for Asari to approach the concept of modesty in remotely the same way species with two genders do. The Asari merc in Miranda's loyalty mission trying to shame Miranda about her clothing seemed ridiculous to me. When there's only gender, one set of body parts, the cultural significance of modesty simply should not be the same as otherwise.

I loved the armor itself. Her cleavage didn't bother me, other than the fact that looked unnatural. It did make me chuckle and shake my head. Then again, everything about the asari seems sexual in some way, shape and form. She was definitely designed to be a sexy, powerful matriarch, that's for sure. I don't care either way, but it certainly wouldn't have bother me if she zipped up.

I wonder if people returning to ME1's light/medium/heavy armors while making them bit better in including more variety and better styles would be best choice. Make light more skin-tight and lacking in armor for characters that use stealth and speed. Heavy would be heavily armored and medium in the middle. Something like this:

Light

Medium:

Heavy

Class-restrictions could add some immersion, soldiers would wear bulky armor and Infiltrators light, but I guess that could be disabled as well so players could choose what they want from light to heavy, maybe make them have different stats- heavy giving more defense stats when light giving more accuracy or speed.

I'd personally like to see something like this happening and I don't think it differences in armors would break immersion like this either. Just don't make light armor a fetish wear and it's practical enough.

Sure. The interesting thing about sartorial choices, is this.

Both the writers and the artists come together and provide input about how characters will look in the game and both will come to an agreement. Sometimes, the writers will adjust their character to fit the visual proposed by the artists.

So, I never delve into the why or comfortability or imagined sexualization "issues", that some in the BSN  get all hyped about.  I'm comfortable if the visual design fits the theme of the story.  I'd find it irksome, if DA:I arnours are found in a Mass Effect game and vice versa. The latter makes absolutely no sense at all.

One "beauty" of a Mass Effect game is that I can play for an hour+ while watching an enjoyable looking female butt (my protag). I'd hardly call it enjoyable, watching a Turiuan's hard bony azz.

Genji's is bit hard to say if it's light or heavy or what cause his body is mostly robotic and there is no information if anything human remains expect bif off face under the faceplate. So is he just all armor and no flesh or is there some kind of body underneath armor? I think there isn't personally.

I'm against any kind of class restriction, be it weapons or armor - if I want to have immersion via limiting myself to a specific armor class or guns let me, the player, decide whats best for me and my immersion. I have no problem with a soldier wearing light armor if he or she uses different tactics than when using heavy armor, but you might see it completely differently. So no restriction would be the best thing.

Besides that, I like the armor classes you posted.
