Her wrists especially used to freak me out.

I didn't say it looked good, I simply said that they did add it.

You know maybe it's just me but I think some characters shouldn't wear revealing outfits, and Cole and Sera are two of them.

Is why we need body morphs so I can add those curves. Bigger hips, behind and chest does not mean a woman can't fight, in armor or whatever.

I want practical armor. There can be aesthetically pleasing options for said practical armor, but I want it to be practical. Practical as in every inch of them from head to toe is covered. One of my biggest gripes about Mass Effect 2 especially was the terrible outfit choices. Here we are in the vacuum of space or a toxic environment and half my crew is exposing themselves to the elements. The lore states that armor is needed for those environments because biotics and shields do not work against those threats so it went against the lore, something a series should never do.

As for casual attire, for that I am more tolerant about sexy outfits since they are not in danger of those elements so can wear what they want. That said, I would like an option for more modest outfits as well, since modest outfits can be just as or even more aesthetically pleasing than the 'sexy' ones.

I'd like armor that could plausibly keep a person alive in the vacuum of space.

Armor should be practical but sexy casual outfits are fine.

I've to agree here. Miranda's default outfit works on the ship, the Citadel, and maybe Omega, I've playing ME2 and on the planet where you pick up of the Hammerhead I brought her and Garrus. Both Garrus and Shepard are covered head-to-toe in armor and have big thick helmets on a fiery planet right next to a volcano, Miranda looked out of place and downright stupid with her catsuit and a breath mask that looks like it's a beginner's scuba mask (or an sleep mask for an operation table) and the same is true with Jacob, Samara, Thane, Jack, Mordin, and Kasumi. Shepard, Tali, Legion, Grunt, Zaheed, and Garrus (with the armor DLC) seem to be the only ones that have armor and casual dress that makes sense.

I have no problem with that armor, nor with Miranda's outfit - as long as you could choose for you or her not to ever wear it. Personally I love outfits like Miranda's, and especially Aria's which was cool and sexy at the same time. Though the thing missing from BW is body morphs, thus an armor like the one in the pic would look even better, imo. Because curves. Unfortunately BW still gives female lead chars the slim and athletic build, while female comps are allowed a little more. While the dudes are all muscle dudes.

I have no problem with Miranda spandex either, but her wearing it in space was a problem. If we're in a vacuum I prefer our characters to wear actual space gear.

You mean what they wear now? That increases your size 3 times and make you look like Michelin Man.

Well they did add revealing armor in the Qunari DLC pack for DA : I. So....there's a chance.....

Viv's armour is a little like that too. you can partially see the breasts. Not that it bothers me too much though a sViv's robes and armours look good in fact using them on my quizzy atm.

No I mean like the pic I showed. That was actual space wear. It was form fitting, but it was made of armor material. It would protect from a vacuum, something like Miranda's spandex in reality couldn't do.

Okay, but something like Miranda's could protect you. As long as it covers everything. So still a catsuit, which I like.

I have no problem with outfits like Jack, Miranda, Samara, Tali, Jacob, Thane etc wear.  Whatever suits the character.  And I wouldn't complain if similar armor was among the choices available for Ryder's appearance.

ME is not even remotely 'hard' science fiction.  It's space opera.  It's Han and Leia stepping out into a space cave with nothing but a surgical mask.  It's aliens from the other side of the galaxy that breathe the same air and have all the proper tabs and slots for intercourse.  It's laser swords and space magic.

If they want to say that Jack is just as durable as Shepard in a firefight because 'barriers' and 'shields', that's fine with me.  If they want to say 'the armor does nothing against modern weapons, it's just a platform for the shield', I'm cool with that.

If you have to put a 'practical' spin on it, N7s wear heavier armor because they're trained to be able to function in rough terrain without a shield.  So Shepard could fall down on a gravel road and not skin their knee while Jack would get a boo boo.  Miranda wouldn't because the gravel wouldn't dare to damage her genetically perfect skin.  And space magic.

For all the people saying that boob plates don't make sense, you're not entirely right. The US military just recently funded a program to design and build body armor specifically tailored to the female physique. Female military personnel have been reporting bruising of the hips and chest due to wearing armor designed for a male body. Added room for breasts and narrower shoulders are among the changes being made to the body armor. An uncomfortable soldier is not a combat-efficient soldier.

Room for breasts is one thing, but actual cleavage is the unnecessary/counterproductive part.

I just hope we're not going to see any ''Space pumps'' anymore, high heels in space is borderline deranged.

Room for breasts to comfortably move around with the wearer - bring it on.

Individual form-fitting cups made of rigid material that would restrict movement, hurt like hell when breast tissue invariably slips out of the cup, and be a PITA to put on - no, thanks.

And speaking of comfort, I really hope they lose the wedgies and kamel-toe.

It only looks like a 'space pump'.  In reality, there's an invisible shield/biotic barrier enclosing the foot in a solid, sensible full shoe.  The fusion reactor that powers it at all times is stored in the visible heel.  Also space magic.

Practical armours is the mainstay of any modern military doctrine.... subject to cost and politics, of course.  Future military doctrine woukd follow the same concepts of equipping their soldiers with offensive and defensive gear, suited for the specific operational theatre.

Skin suits make sense for space navy personnel. In combat, a vessel can be breach and the crew will quickly breath vacuum.  In such a situation I envision the impracticality of the crew to wear normal clothes and then be force to quickly go to the designated areas to get and climb into their vacuum suits.  Wearing body fitting suits design to withstand the rigours of cold space, they need only to put on their helmets.

Ground combat soldiers will probably wear custom designed combat armours fitted to their body size. These armours contain enough molecular circuits to provide communication, sensors and internal computer to monitor the health of the individual and can trigger administration of suitable drugs to keep a zombie alive for hours, if needed. Medi-Gel is so passé.

All the above verbiage to say I'm in favour of body fitting armours.

As to revealing armours... that, to me, is a custom modding decision for each individual.

I'm all for having choices, but I have to answer this based on the aesthetic Bioware has already established. And that is one of detailed realism, even more than the previous games. So having your PC wear sexy times armor while exploring would indeed feel out of place. On the ship is another matter, and I'd love to see alt outfits for our crew.

Wait, what detailed realism?

Is it the "Jack destroys three walking tanks and an entire space station with her mind while running around half naked" detailed realism, or the occasional "surgical masks are find for hazardous environments" detailed realism?

I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the "we can get from one side of the galaxy to the other via space slingshots" detailed realism or the "we took what was left of a guy who died in space and then fell from orbit, rebuilt him and brought him back to life *exactly* the same person he was before he died" detailed realism, or even the "it's a technological improvement to go from infinite ammo to extremely limited shots per widget (note, not all guns use the same widgets) with no shooting at all without widgets" detailed realism, because those don't have anything to do with clothes.

I personally prefer full coverage, but form fitting. I doubt there's any chance they'll bother with skin bearing combat/exploration gear, since the character will almost certain be dealing with not just combat itself (in which case, shields) but also dangerous climates and terrain.

A variety of non-combat gear would be appreciated.

Again, this isn't about story logic. This is about establishing an aesthetic. Putting Jack next to my PC wearing this would look absurd.

Having jack wear her prison jumpsuit indoors and on temperate worlds isn't ridiculous per se, partly because she's not all there at the time and has a bit of a suicidal death wish. Miranda's catsuit doesn't make anywhere near as much sense, just like Samara, and it makes no sense and all that they'd go in any kind of vacuum dressed like that.

That would depend on how detailed Jack's outfit was in the same rendering engine.

And, just for the record, I sincerely doubt you'll get anything like this kind of detail out of the Frostbite engine in game.

In any case, it's a good time to argue semantics.  I dislike the use of the term 'realism' when dealing with the Space Magic Effect franchise, because there isn't any.  I think people are confusing internal consistency for realism.  I'm all for internal consistency, and so far, everything from half naked biotics to hulking, heavily armored lizards is good to go.
