Who CARES

Why does this matter to you so much? I can understand not wanting characters to go out onto the battlefield in a catsuit, but people actually have a problem with "boob-plate"? Who cares if it's not entirely practical, it's soft sci-fi and looks fine. Immersion breaking my arse

The only people who need armor are the ones who get hit. Git guud, get rid of armor.

It's more that "boob plate" doesn't make sense. Think about how boobs actually work for a second.

I'd like armor that could plausibly keep a person alive in the vacuum of space.

What he said and don't give me that biotic crap.

Want to put characters in skimpy outfits? Fine, but make sure they have a suit for outer space.

I'm not opposed to sexy bodysuits.

But at least give us the option to have practical armor, too. Like with Miranda's ME2 DLC armor. That way if you want to play a throwback sci-fi game with space babes, you can, or you can go more straight practical if that's your flavor.

I don't see why we can't have our cake and eat it too.

Personally I prefer the bulkier, heavier armor types, but there's no reason not to have both sexy and practical armor for people with different tastes. Just one little pet peeve of mine: no masks. Full coverage helmets at all times in vacuum and toxic environments.

God, this. More helmets.

If you think about ME2, most missions are actually not warzones, but very urban or small scale firefights. In which outfits like Miranda's or Jacob's make complete sense.

Battlefields then. If Miranda is helping me take down a hundred Eclipse or Blue Suns (or more), I just hope her suit has kinetic barriers.

It's not just stupid female outfits I hated. Garrus, why are you still wearing your blown up armor? Surely you can get a replacement. Here, I just bought you some armor, wear this from now on.

When BW talked about PC armor back in 2014 they said that it would have a cloth base with (armor) parts snapped onto it. The helmet would feature a transparent dome, so that vision was improved and that faces could be seen in convo. Such armor could actually be made, comfortable, and protective. It would also allow customization. The female armor didn't show a boobplate, so I guess they went for a more realistic approach. You can see that show up in the last BTS, where Ryder and her squad wear similar armor in combat.

I like to see that in the actual game.

Then we will clash with our understanding of this.

She would not need a "boob plate" either. Her chest is quite small. The more flat you are the more sense a flat chest plate make.

Something people who hate the "boob plate" does not seem to understand is that it's painful to have something pushing so hard against your chest.

It has little to do with the size and more to do with the pain to the chest when taking damage. It could even be deadly.

The problem with women's armor, according to a man who makes armor.

They're not guys: New gear to fit female soldiers.

This is a very valid point.

Shredded abs get an armor bonus.

What about armor that has shredded abs embossed into it? Does that get a double bonus?

Which would not matter since we're in a sci-fi setting and not in a fantasy one where people wield swords. Beam and ballistic weapons does not care if your chest plate is formed after your breasts or not. Thus the whole argument in the ME universe makes no sense.

Sexy clothes can be more attractive or enhance sexual appeal I realized than just like virtually nil, but regular normal armor that is unappealing aesthetically is the worst.

It's not about a fantasy setting either. A sword can deliver deadly blows, but I assume the pressure of firearms to be greater.

Well, I always assumed those lines behind her costume were the barriers generators.

And well, Garrus alternate outfit is not blown up if I'm not mistaken. And supposing that Garrus wears that armor as a symbol is not far off considering his personality.

Sexy is fine as long as it is completely optional for the PC and all Companion characters.  Optional as always is the key word.

Hell make a range of heavy, medium, light and super light armour DLC packs based around a theme/regional environment, I'm sure they would sell like hot cakes.

I would never use it, not my thing, I don't need to see my character running around a sub zero wasteland in a bikini, but if you want too more power to you.

If you want sexy, get some sexy wear for lounging around the ship. If I need to concentrate on Sexy Lady party member while I'm in the middle of gameplay, then the gameplay needs to be redesigned.

Does it?  I didn't think it did in ME2 or 3, so I don't see why it would in Andromeda.  At this point, then, are we just talking opinion and if we should restrict things we don't like?

Because I enjoyed the whole gamut of outfits in the setting so far.  Even the dumb ones like Shepard's casual raider outfit.

I dunno. When I first went to that foggy planet with the klixen, it turned out that the fog was toxic and a tad corrosive (Grunt says "Stings a bit"). Should a human being walk around shirtless and her eyes exposed in such an environment? Personally I think it looks daft and hope that sort of thing never returns. I had a seriously hard time enjoying the general aesthetic myself because it just seemed like it veered way too far into the rule-of-cool territory.

The alt outfit is blown up. All Loyalty armors are just reskins. Only the DLC outfits are different. And Garrus is a soldier, he's got to prioritise being protected over remembering that time he took a rocket to the face and then walked it off.

I have nothing against revealing armor per se. It depends on the premises of the game and its world. In a fantasy game we can imagine a magical thong bikini that gives adequate defense. But for the Mass Effect setting I prefer realistic armor on all characters during situations when wearing such armor would be expected to be worn. It should lean toward hard sci fi on this in my opinion. It might even be interesting if characters were caught unexpectedly out of full armor in an emergency situation. Bioware has often started games with the main character in an unprpared state of dress, as in KOTOR so this would not be unprecedented. I could add an interesting twist to combat.
