I don't mind the jumpsuit, I do mind things like the cameltoe.

Well she is solid and hard down there, its only natural it will show. Its not like its squishy or anything

Personally, I prefer a few revealing armor types.   This is the future we are talking about here.   In a universe with energy shields, flexible polymers, and biotic barriers, you are trying to tell me that the only 'practical' armor has to consist of thick layers of metal?

Biotic bariers and shielding dont protect from atmosphere of space. Samara's mouth breather "mask" would cause her eyes to dehidrate in miliseconds, followed by total loss of eyesight and extreme damage to skin exposed to vacum.

A thick layer or multiple layers of protective materials will always be more protective than a thin layer of protective materials. Lets say there is a new material that is ultra strong, nearly transparent and very very thin, so thin you get a really shapely, form fitting, ''Sexy'' armor.

Good! But If I go to war and people shoot at me with the equivalent of rail guns I want to strap as many of those layers ( a reasonable amount) to my body as possible. At this point the armor will resemble normal armor again.  There is no reason not to strap so much protection onto your body until it resembles ''Normal'' armor.

While modern ballistic body armor is barely sloped, making elaborate ''boob'' plates and sharp angles and dents would definitely compromise its protection by a considerable amount.

It makes a lot of sense to angle and slope armor wherever possible, but mainly on vehicles because its simply hard to do on body armor.

In a nutshell, uniform and as simple as possible shapes is whats best for body armor.

Sloped armor explained. Its simple, really.

Thank you. What I'm more concerned about, however, is the "boob plate" creating a good ol' shelltrap. Stomach and chest (straight plate) count on the sheer thickness, but should you be hit somewhere towards the edges of your body, not only will the suit be angled (angled armor) but it will also stand a greater chance of deflecting the round altogether.

Also when I looked at ballistic plates (I think the ones you posted in the picture are replicas, by the way - I don't think Evike sells the real deal) they seemed to be forming a bowl in just the slightest way, making the strike face angled. Yes, however, modern armor is hard to curve, which is why they abandoned the concept even with modern tanks - M1 Abrams, Leopard 2, Merkava IV and Challenger, just to name a few. Even the Russian T-90 and T-14 have straight plates, angled but not curved. I believe this is because of the fact it's no longer rolled homogenous armor, but instead layered armor.

I wouldn't mind seeing armor/outfits like Asari commando's. If that counts as sexy/revealing armor.

I play as a vanguard, not a tank. I need to be agile not rigid like a refrigerator.

Honestly, I'd think that vanguards would want some tankiness, given how hard you charge into enemy lines.

That's why Volus Vanguards are the best Vanguards... cannonballs!

This discussion appears every time there's a game with armour.
And every time I say the same thing. It's ok to have "revealing" armour as long as it's explained/balanced.

Asari commandos wear skintight bodysuits because they rely a lot on their barriers AND hit&run tactics. So catching them with barriers down out of cover gets them killed fast. There - it's both explained in in-universe terms and balanced for gameplay.

A negative example would be Ashley/Kaidan in ME3, where, contrary to their specialisations, Ashley got a bodysuit and Kaidan got heavy-looking armour. It didn't make sense both in-universe (Ashley is a front-line soldier while Kaidan is support) nor in gameplay (Ashley had more HP).

Once again, this is a problem that could be solved with mods, if only DICE would let us mod in their engine.

The opinions given in this thread make it clear that there is no design that will please everyone. Some people actively dislike fanservice, and some people actively dislike its absence. These two groups cannot both be satisfied without the game both both containing and not containing this content based on each player's preference.

Since the devs aren't going to add a toggle for that, mods are the only solution.

Why not both?

Practical coherent armor during missions, skanky outfitts for the tempest.

For me, coherent armor improves the story. Not so much into the chain-kinis

Combat armor is more than just protection.  It's medigel dispensers, power sources for he kinetic barriers and omnitool.  Ammo storage, on-board recording devices and computers, (like the HUD) Not to mention it's sealable to protect against heat, cold, and other atmospheric dangers.

Where were the medigel dispensers for Jack?

DAI at least allowed for several different looks for each companion.  So I didn't have to let Iron Bull go around bare-chested if I didn't want to.

How about the default is practical outfits but you can customize appearance with sexy costumes that don't affect stats.

That to me satisfies both parties unless people are ridiculous and demand that catsuits and jock straps be the default.

Yeah, because nothing says protection like stretchy spandex when you're throwing your body at another person at around 1000 newtons. That's nearly around 300lbf. Wearing something like that in that instance is unconventional.

Room for breasts is one thing, but actual cleavage is the unnecessary/counterproductive part.

I'm not saying I like the individual boob cup things. But the armor should reflect that it is designed for the female physique. The extra breast room should be accounted for because it makes more sense than not having it at all.

i´m perfectly fine with armor that deserves the name, like this:

femshepx117um3.png

and i´m happy if we dont have characters running around in "armor" that protects from nothing and reveals tons of skin on planets with toxic/corrosive/low-pressure/high-pressure atmospheres like in ME2. not that i mind "revealing" "armor", but it shouldnt be ridiculous.

Its not even about "sex appeal" to me, i just don't want me party running around as a bunch of faceless goons, where you can barely see what they look like.

This call for "realism" and "immersion" in this shlocky, pulpy, "michael bay" like,  in these games that are basically your Saturday night popcorn action flicks, its weird to me... this is not a realistic series, this is a silly series, and i love it for being a silly series. (not hating here, look at my avatar, i love silly entertainment)

Room for breasts to comfortably move around with the wearer - bring it on.Individual form-fitting cups made of rigid material that would restrict movement, hurt like hell when breast tissue invariably slips out of the cup, and be a PITA to put on - no, thanks. And speaking of comfort, I really hope they lose the wedgies and kamel-toe.

Individual boob cups in the armor is dumb. I just want them to show that there actually IS room for the breasts at all.
