^ Yeah, I have been playing gears 3's horde mode the past couple of nights...it can switch direction of shooting but only in hard cover....which feels weird shooting left handed.
There you are. Thought we lost. What console you on right now?...

Did Terminator Force help you write those "Pew, Pew" letters?
Reading some of the stuff from the sticky post near the top of the forum will give you an instant bump in skill just by knowing about stuff like combo detonations and right hand advantage and gun mechanics, also like someone else said earlier a lot of us are happy to carry people along while they learn

Good tips here. The one thing I would say, more abstractly, is to force yourself to move. Coming from SP, your instinct will be to hunker down in cover and pop up/out to shoot, then pop back. This can be done with a good team in MP (especially on lower levels), but it won't work on higher levels. There are too many aggressive boss enemies to force you out of cover, and enemy fire simply does too much damage if you're in the open. Forcing yourself to move will make you learn the maps better and get you more used to fighting the way you need to fight in MP. Even if you are doing well by camping in a single position, force yourself to move. You'll be better in the end because of it.
I wish you luck friend, whether you play on or off host, chances are low that you'll find players who'll stick with you for a few games (considering your region. I'm basing this on the fact that I connect from NA and I still don't get many people who join my hosted games).
It just takes a lot of practice to get good, some classes are more friendly (power-heavy classes are great because they just need to be leveled). Weapon-centric classes or builds require weapon levels (MUCH harder to accomplish, considering. Thank you drop system for the 10 Human Soldier drops). I'd recommend classes like Adept, Engie or Sentinel for higher difficulty transitions, especially the Turian Sent if you have him, everybody loves seeing him.
But this is based on what's worked for me, and I'm a scrub, so take my advice for what it's worth.
There are still plenty of players who play on PC, it's probably the most active player base this late in the life cycle. I'm sure that by hanging around these forums you'll find players who are more than happy to spend some time playing with you and helping you get acquainted with the multiplayer. There's plenty to learn, but the only way to "git gud" is to play. Most of us have hundreds of hours in, some thousands, and only got as good as we are by playing.
If I had to give you one piece of advice, it's to be aware of what's around you; situational awareness. It's just one important thing in the multiplayer, but you also will need to learn not just how to shoot enemies, but where; speccing and using powers; properly equipping weapons; being a good teammate.....
Just jump in and go for it.
Then why does it take 10 years for my lobbies to fill up?
And that's not counting the leech-players who play Gold/Platinum with no equipment.
I'm exaggerating obviously, but tbh, the PC playerbase seems kinda dead. I've been sitting in lobby for 10 mins now.
Speaking of, did you move to PC too?
Try quick games, son.

But muh host advantages!

Me? On PC?

Not yet.
Shame, I recommend it 100%, even if you have to deal with Origin's drama.

OP: What he said ^^^^
Rummage around in this forum. It helped me a lot! I'm about 6 months into what you're about to start. Only this is the first video game I have ever played (sheltered childhood). I'm not good but I'm a lot better for hanging around here. These people are great. Take advantage of their wisdom.
My info is in my sig. if you'd like to add me.

I landed a few times in your lobbies iirc and always quit asap as the laaaaag is very bad for me. There is something wrong with your packets, they get lost. Your ping is decent but there is huge rubberbanding. Apparently, I'm not the only one so you might consider playing off host and stop torturing people.

I wouldn't be there for the game; I'd be there for the people. There are tons of players on PC who I've never had the pleasure of playing with, so if I come thru it'll be for them.
I want to git gud for MEA, so lack of games right now is not a concern. I will try solo server though and go through the vids and then see iff I csn get some quick games.
Then do it for meeeeee.
Seriously, if I have to wait any longer in this lobby, I think I might start studying nuclear physics and get my diploma before I find a team.

That doesn't make any sense, I've got really good internet.
"I'm over 50 and started playing late so the twitch skills aren't there. Nevertheless I beat all 3 games on hardest difficulty.
Don't sweat the age and twitch reflex. I'm 49 and, like you, started late at fast paced games. Us old farts can still do well enough at the MP.
To add, the sticky at the top of the MP forum, the Resource Library, does have some really good advice. It's definitely worth reading.

You're gonna have to work harder than that to lure me
maybe Deerber can help you.
You could always just, you know....find me on ecks bawks if you missed me that much.

That's what everyone thinks about their internetz these days and people are hosting with horrible connections. You can actually check your jitter and packets online here: http://freeola.com/line-test/ Jitter is as bad as packet loss because packets arrive after they are expected. Which messes things even more.

I'd also recommend DSLreports.com to check latency and jitter. They have some very good tools on there.
I have no idea what the cause is for the lag in my lobbies, but players who are at least halfway decent don't seem to have too many problems with it, so I don't care all that much at this point. ![]()
1. Drinks lots of beer, this is similar to training with weights.
2. Get a mic and boast about your skill and expertise
3. Create Epeen threads to allow others to marvel in your awesome and challenge other players on the BSN.
4. Obtain title of greatest ME3MP player for your console
5. Cross console in order to stomp out rumors that you're anything less than the greatest of all time.
6. Create threads in MEA General discussion announcing your unchallenged thrown and your need for a fertile young virgin bride so that you may have an heir to your legacy.
I have faith in you bro. Just keep at it and eventually you'll get there. Around the 500hour mark magical things begin happening. It becomes a thing of art.
Lucky i'm on pc then. ![]()

Random thoughts on the matter:
- There's always a Marauder behind you. Even against Geth.
- Play on a lower difficulty while learning and playing with randoms. If you run into better players via randomness/the forum/friends list, that's when it will be more worth it to play a moderate or higher difficulty. It's hard to learn without enough of a cushion to figure things out, so take advantage of the lower difficulties to get around your weak manifest while you learn how objectives work, and where enemies tend to spawn/cluster on maps.
- Counter-Intuitive Lesson Time: When that screaming Banshee is bearing down on you, race to the nearest ramp. Hide on the ramp, preferably so that you are lower than she is. Then stick your face in her crotch. Incredibly, this is the second-safest position to be in when facing a Banshee (the safest position is anywhere away from her while there is another teammate drawing aggro from her crotch.)
- Mention platform somewhere (even edit OP to include said info.) This tends to generate play offers from the forum (if so desired - after all, they are a weird bunch.)
This is really good advice and deserves to be re-quoted. There's no better teacher than experience so get as much time in on Bronze as you can. Also, learn to use soft cover (staying behind walls with your gun peeking out to kill). Kick ass. ![]()
