Speaking as someone who never played MP on any other game until 2012...practice.

The MP is a lot harder than SP, especially if you're not used to it.  Not being able to pause while bringing up the tactical wheel, no radar minimap, a smaller selection of powers and crappy low level guns combine with a harder and wider range range of enemies than you will have faced in the SP.  As people here like to point out, the final battle on Earth is roughly comparable with the later waves of Silver against Reapers.

So mostly it's a matter of unlearning those bad SP habits - pausing, checking the map, using power spam to win the day - and learning to play in a somewhat different style.  Using soft cover/right hand advantage, making more use of your headset and knowledge of enemy spawns to know where the enemy is, making greater use of the fewer weapons and powers you have.  It's also about working as a team - while no-one on PC talks for some weird reason, and when you're sufficiently experienced you can run off and do your own thing, early on and when you're still learning it pays to stick by team mates.  Watch their backs and flanks, support them against boss units or especially dangerous enemies.  You'll learn a lot, just sticking near someone.

There's also useful guides on Youtube, for how to build certain classes or use certain guns, what builds are "OP" or glitched etc, if you'd rather watch someone doing something than read about it here (though the information in this forum is also well worth your time).  I personally recommend xcalizorz, his videos are what got me into playing the MP in the first place, and he's definitely a hell of a player.  His personality's not for everyone, but I like the guy and when he's not trash talking or just messing about he does give some really good advice, and even has some videos specifically tailored for people with unmaxed manifests.  Some of his older videos will be less helpful, given how the game has changed since those days with the subsequent DLCs and patch updates.

You're gonna have to work harder than that to lure me ;) maybe Deerber can help you.

You could always just, you know....find me on ecks bawks if you missed me that much.

Haha I'm DEFINITELY gonna help them lure you in once ME:A hits! ;)

I want my chocolate share! B)

Out of everyone from this thread I have the best tip evaaaar!!!!!:

Play with people who play less good than you, that way you'll always end up highest in the scoreboard which will boost your confidence which will automatically make you better and which will want you to keep achieving moar  <_<

Uhm. That, I think, depends from person to person. I, for example, found it much more useful and enjoyable to play with people who played consistently better than I did back in the days, when I was learning. It would force me to push my limits and get better and better and better. I also felt no shame for being worse than they were, as they were pretty much the best players around. What can I say, it worked for me. ... So long as that kind of players could still be found

Then it became time to show people that the Claymoar is the way. And Drell. Much Drell B)

I used to be an SP only player also until I discovered MP

I think the whole bunch of us were ;)

True!! It was only said in jest until Yrael reminded me that there was some truth to it in my case. I still love playing with the pro's here, they're awesome and kind people and they've done nothing but try to help me get better, even after all my rage quitting and rage outbursts here on bsn, that's when you know you're around good people. I guess it's just because I sometimes let my pride get too much in the way. When I land last on the scoreboard, I feel completely defeated and I want to do something to get back on top and win! It's weird I know but I'm a very proud person, I can't help it. Other times I don't even think about it though, I just laugh it up and have fun with the guys. It varies but lately it has been frustrating me to constantly lose :(

The game isnt really about competition... its about shooting aliens and having fun... but mostly its about running away from Banshees ;) you dont lose because youve got less points than someone... the team wins together... the only defeat you get when the whole team fails... other than that no matter where you come youre a winner :)

Also youre playing with people who have all the guns... theyre gonna do better... so the only thing you can do is do the best you can with what you have and hope for the day when you have a Claymore X and can kick their butts ;)

Lies and slander.  I'm competing against the primary enemy (pugs) as well as whatever enemy faction is running about.

Knowing it and DOING it is 2 different things like night and day. You have to experience the glory and orgasm of sc0r3wh00ring before you can speak about it.

But there are many other arts to master. Like killstealing, baiting sync-kill bosses on PUGS for them to be sacrificed. and so on.

Don't forget about locking them in the reactor, there is nothing more satisfying in this game than watching 3 confused pugs getting cooked together.

Oh yeah, it's all coming back to me now. Spectator mode was how I learned.

Yes. Forget learning anything from this forum. Just hug a Banshee, and learn from spectator mode while eating nacho's, cheesy poofs, and drinking mountain sugar overdose into the mic.

And don't forget to shout "Pay Day" every now and then.

Yes!  I'm surprised nobody mentioned this before.  On the Reactor base, you can hit a button by the reactor door to close the doors and lock enemies/teammates inside while the reactor fires.  If you're a team player, your instinct will be NOT to close the reactor while your teammates are inside because it will probably kill them.  This is wrong.  Locking multiple teammates inside the reactor at once is one of the surest demonstrations of skill in this game.

Seems more like a restricted NAT problem than good internet. Also you might have downloaded that patch for 1.06 exe.

Couldn't tell ya. 90% of people who join my lobbies often stay for multiple games, so it's clearly not a problem on my end.

The difficulty is getting that first player to join. This is probably because the game has a priority search program that matches you with semi-full lobbies before empty ones. Like I said before, once a player joins the lobby, the lobby fills almost immediately. And if a player leaves, another one jumps right in.

My theories are either the player base is dying, or (more likely, given what people are saying) there are a lot of semi-full lobbies active at any time.

Is there a video link for this?

Not a proper one, which is to say that, ashamedly, I do not have any video of me smacking a Banshee in the crotch with my Krogan Warlord. I'd record one (it wouldn't take long) but the laptop I use for recording is in revolt, at the moment.

The best example I do have is from the video Stikman made explaining Banshees. But not from the final edit we posted, rather it's from the out-takes, but I believe I still have it up.

Yup, this is the video link. To understand what you're seeing, you have to realize that I was trying to die on purpose so I could record as a spectator over Stikman's shoulder. But I was trying to get synch-killed by a Banshee while standing on a ramp, and I guess nothing shows how effective sticking your face in her crotch while on a ramp is than seeing somehow trying to kill themselves that way and failing.

Maybe re-read noobtastic's remark . He didn't remark on jitter, or ping, or how fast your connection is, but on NAT...
Read this post: http://forum.bioware...ord/?p=19951192

This is a known phenomena... Only some bitter enders doesn't at least give it a try. Meanwhile we know also that 1) voice chat, 2) text chat and 3) game connection is also in parallel and not necessarily automatically assumed connected when the game data is pushed.

Surprisingly enough an awful lot of us here are "Old Farts".  Mid 30's to mid 50's is the age spread. That, there blew me away when I first joined.

At first I thought that was surprising.  But when you think about it, kids these days have no attention span and get bored of stuff within like 30 seconds.  They move on to new stuff just because it's new, so it's ultimately not surprising none have stuck around.

Also, they're soft, entitled, have bad work ethics, no morals, no respect for their elders, and they play their music too got dam loud.

I like the way you're thinking Gen, after all that's why I got into me3 mp to begin with to have fun. The competitive side of me and feeling silly if I lose is really stupid when I think about it. But I just can't help of wonder if the pro's or the real good players would have felt the same way if they were truly noobs as well?..... I mean, would they TRULY not care about high kill counts or ending last on the scoreboard then? Perhaps they just don't care now because they're so good at the game that they can lean back and relax.... just a thought.... :D

I admit that I come from a family of military people and a dad with a harsh tone who saw losing and being sad as not an option, that's why I have such a hard time in life accepting defeat, even in video games lol, I hate being like that but I blame him and my military career xD

Ps.: Don't mind my rambling, it's late here and I need sleep :D

I still have games where I don't score first, OWA. To me, I enjoy the game all the different ways you can play it. Using optimal setups, you'll kill fast and probably top score, unless I'm in a lobby with an equally good player or someone using something more OP, etc whatever. Or, I'll bring a Destroyer/Spitfire to see how slow I can run from one end of Rio to the other while dying 100 times laughing my ass off, or see if I can get 50 tech & biotic kills by popping Tech Armor on the HSent.

The point I'm trying to make is, we haven't forgotten how to have fun, but sometimes that means outscoring everyone by 100k if that's what I'm in the mood to do.
