Nothing I do works, the hero stays the same. I even tried to delete all the world states, but it forced me to keep one and I can't change my origin hero no matter what?!?

You always have to have at least one world state. To delete all (custom) states forever, go to the world state listing and click the + on a blank square; this will create a new default world state. Load that into the tapestry and also hit the "export to DAI" button. After that, you will be able to go back and delete your other custom world states, leaving only the default one. After that point, you can edit the default world state to your preference, including changing the heroes for each of the three games.

To change your selected hero(es), you'll also want to ensure you use the "Tapestry" section, which is where all world edits are made.  The "Heroes" page is only used for displaying a list of your heroes and basic information about them.
