As the title states, will you wait for reviews/lets plays before buying MEA or will you go in blind?

No. I'm already skeptical enough. I don't need any more bias going into the game.

 

I'll be playing it the day it comes out, and will try and judge it as objectively as possible. That will be hard enough as it is. I have little faith in online reviews - those who aren't paid reviews are often bitter and negative. (People are always more willing to talk about what went wrong, not what was right.)

 

That being said once the game is finished and done I will go look at reviews. Mind you not reviews that agreed with my conclusion, but those who disagreed. I find it much more interesting to see what the other side of the conversation has to say. More than once I have overlooked things in games (both good and bad) only to see it by listening to other people. Even if their points don't influence me, it's fun to see what points they bring up.

 

I never understood why people (especially gamers) act so hostile to everyone who don't share their opinions of a game.

Depends.  I've never pre-ordered games in the past, so I'll probably wait for some reviews and maybe some early playthrough videos to appear... but then again, there's always a first time for everything.

I will definitely wait for reviews. Then I'll wait for a few more reviews... especially from trustworthy players with preferences similar to mine.

 

Of course, chances are that they'll be waiting for reviews, too.

Absolutely agree with the review part. I usually read the bad reviews first. Then the okay ones, then the gushing ones.

Yes I will. I've found a couple of reviewers whose opinion I tend to agree with most of the time. They don't sing paeans of praises just because it's a AAA title. They don't care about the hype. They lay out the good and bad points, give their rating but it's still up to the viewer to decide. I tend to follow one of them. If it's an RPG, he will not say anything about the story but he will showcase the gameplay, combat mechanics, etc and give his opinion. Because he refuses to pander to a particular franchise or game tool, fanboys get very unhappy when he gives a low rating. 

 

I've watched the gameplay of many titles he played on Twitch and can see for myself. Doom (I watched this played from beginning to end over three days) is one of the better FPS I've ever seen, I've played the original Doom many many years ago and think very little of the spin-offs. But, even though I've fond memories of it and can see that the reboot is really excellent, I'm not incline to buy it. Because it is what it is, a FPS 90% of the time, with just enough story tapestry to push it along. I also found gameplay repetitive. It's no longer what I look for nowadays. 

 

I'm likely to play the game though no pre-orders or playing on the day of launch. I think MEA would get a fair rating on gameplay unless Bioware suddenly become incompetent. On the story, I doubt I'll be that involved any more. It's AU to me and I've already moved into another world where the trilogy is concerned.

I´m yet on an internal conflict.

 

As the release date gets closer, more data is revealed about the game, its price and the bonus available for those who pre-order, I hope to find a resolution.

 

I am more than willing to give the game a chance. That I will buy it seems to be a no-brainer. If I will pre-order it in order to play it day one is an entire different matter. 

 

But this has nothing to do with anything in particular regarding this title. It has to do with the general aspect of games being released full of bugs. And when a patch is released, sometimes all of your previous saves become useless.

 

Even if I happen to succumb to the temptation to pre-order, I will most likely not immerse myself on a longplay. Most likely I will just test the waters in the earlier levels attempting different builds and classes in order to get the feel of the game. 

 

I will wait before I play it seriously, but not in order to wait for reviews, but for reports of people being able to play it till the end without finding severe bugs that can ruin the experience.  

 

The prudent consumer in me tells me to wait, see and possibly even get a discount on a sale. The fanboy in me tells me to pre-order and play it as soon as possible.

Nope, I want to go into a BioWare game totally blind, no spoilers at all.  Paying full price and having a ME:A media blackout until I'm done is the only way to make that happen so....

 

Besides, I'm easily swayed by other people's opinions.  I want to finish up and and decide what I truly think before letting the interwebs influence me.

I plan to get ME:A day one, but in case people get early pre-release review copies... I'd prefer to avoid any and all reviews. You know, try to keep my hype levels at a smooth medium.

 

When you go in thinking a game is going to be the greatest thing ever, 9.9 times out of 10, you leave disappointed. Finding bad reviews would just dishearten me, but I'll be playing regardless.

I hate goddamn spoilers, srsly hate getting spoiled.   Staying offline until I complete the game is the safest option, don't trust anybody to have the decency to censor themselves when it comes to major plot info. Will buy it as soon as it hits the shelves here and then go radio silent until I finish it. Wanna experience everything untainted.

I didn't start playing DA and ME until DAI came out, so everything was massively spoiled online.  I'd be looking at a DA forum and someone would mention something from ME for example, so it was really hard to escape those things.  Plus I'd be a noob and google things like 'what happens if I side with the werewolves' and whatnot.

 

The worst thing for me tho was DAI, by the time I played I knew that...

Blackwall had a big dark secret and wasn't who he said he was.  When playing it seemed so bleeding obvious to me, but I can't help but wonder if I'd have seen it if I didn't already know.  I also knew there was something hinky with Solas.

 

What an experience DAI would've been without knowing those things.

So never again, total ME thread blackout when Andromeda goes live, and maybe even watching Youtube with one eye closed.  Damned recommended videos ruined Iron Bull's storyline twist in Trespasser for me in a thumbnail picture.

Ugh YouTube comment section is the worst, I got the big Fallout 4 twist spoiled on me when I was watching a video about copyright infringement. True story. Why, just why???

Don't really care about reviews, but I will definetely wait until Bioware fixes the technical issues and bugs which I know Andromeda will have.

I preordered Inquisition and I got the shaft for it, good grief. That game forever scared me away from preordering or buying on launch.

I intend to preorder without investigating. I know my PCMR brethren would hang and quarter me for this but I love Mass Effect & Bioware.
