I follow two message boards - this one, and one for an RPG/Shooter that is just as fabulously glitchy as DAIMP.  I follow the other board for news on updates etc.  The difference in the people on the two boards is night and day.  Here there are wonderful people who are all out to help one another.  They share tips, tricks, and laughs.  The other board is a snakepit full of venom, hate, rage at the Devs, rage at each other... and if I see "gitgud" as a response to one more post over there I might mash my head against my desk.

So thank you to everyone here for being who you are.  If the only board I was a part of was the other one I might have given up on gaming entirely.

Shooter rage is real.

If you mean Destiny. I left after The Dark Below. In particular because of that raid.

Kept a screenshot of my 20.0 in the crucible though :)

Toxic players.

Nope, it's the Division.  I actually really enjoy that game when I play it with my friends (all of whom became my friends via DAIMP) but I wouldn't play it by myself or with randoms.

Even friends could rage in shooter...

My sister works for activation and she got free Overwatch for my kid and my brother's kids.  They fight and rage quit all the time with each others.  My Hanzo is better than yours... etc....

this is all the rage with the kids right now. they are going bonkers for this game.

I also quite destiny - maybe because I got my ass handed to me and maybe because it was a bunch of tools. I only met like 2 cool people. I prefer the style of dragon age much much more.

& the people are way kinder.......

I was told yesterday that leaderboarders don't use this forum because it's "just a bunch of haters." Aka "we hide in small parties to talk our **** because no one else wants to hear it."

I know for a fact that most of the Leaderboarders have their own private PS4 community for their own private super important top secret conversations.

TBH, most of the Leader Board people I've come across in this game are tools. Most of them are rude, impatient, know-it-all....anything that effects their grind is unacceptable. If you can't keep up with sub 15 minute FC Nightmare runs, they want nothing to do with you. They kick most people from their matches (why they do public matches to begin with is a mystery to me). They feel that it's a privilege for anyone not of their caliber to run with them.

At first when I met a few, I thought it was cool that I could have some people carry me through higher difficulties, so I could level my stats faster and get better gear...now I've realised it just isn't worth it.

I've met a handful of the PS4 leader boarders - most of them have been highly entertaining fun individuals.  I've only run across one or two that I won't play with because of the jerk factor.

It's a mixed bag on the PC leaderboarders. Most of the ones I have played with are cool but the most toxic of people I have met have all been leaderboarders.

Sshh don't say things like this, this is the bsn, we have a reputation to think of, can't have people thinking we're actually decent.

I would always expect the people that pump countless hours into a game to take it seriously, but it does get ridiculous at times. I gotta say, 70% of the LB's I've played with have been cool, 20% are teabags that don't deserve to have my eliteness in their presence, and 10% don't speak english, which works out perfectly awesome!

I play(ed) that, the player base are shits.  I do love the world environ, Ubi/Massive should never have made it PVP.  You get PVP players trying to do PVE content but treating team members like opponents.   Division should be a SP only or co-op game.  The story is reasonable to a point.  I only need 3 trophies to plat it, all are Dark Zone  and not sure i have the patience to deal with that.  I bought the Pass, but wondering wtf i was thinking... More like hoping for more areas with cool 3d world/art to explore.  I get no pleasure from Dark Zone.  it should be removed.  I quit WoW for similar reasons.. people being crappy on raid content instead of playing together to achieve tough objectives, self made or game implemented.   I come across some players to avoid in DAIMP but its a very low percentage, maybe because it takes some effort and grit to get off the starting block.

ME3MP doesn't have that ... Effect.  Loads of guns, but still lots of fun.  The troll factors only really appears on the Reactor map lol..   ugh

I don't get anyone that only plays 1 game when there are interesting options out there.  DAIMP is on my regular rotation right now due to some fun players i enjoy being around.  I got some euro guy on my friend list who's ps trophy score is like 55...   I'll NEVER get there, so why bother, i focus on my own goals and have fun.

Sadly, yet not sadly, this game is all that I play. But really its just my 'free time' is very confined, so I sacrifice sleep on the daily to play a couple hours. I wonder if 5 hours sleep/day will start taking a toll. I'd rather do one thing very well than a bunch so-so, and I would say my gaming abilities are at about a C level, being that I'm getting old and dumb as the years tick by. I was so frickin good at NES/SNES

Name one?

Games for me are bleh thesedays.  I find one and I stick to it.  Planetside 3 years, FFXI 7 years, FFXIV v1.23 2 years (until 2.0 wrecked it), DAIMP 1.5 years so far...

Been playing games for over 30 years on many MANY formats.  I like RPGS (true fantasy RPGS, not this shooter hybrid crap) but most, if not all, just bring out new gear every 3 months that invalidates everything you worked for.  Only single players I like are similar to Star Ocean, FF series (prob not anymore since its more action orientated now, XV has killed it)

At least in this game you can get a quick gaming fix, the gameplay is fun and when you get stronger it's not wiped out by an update.

I guess it boils down to what you prefer.

July 1st will be a big test for me as the new Star Ocean is out and will probably take me over a month to explore fully.  I'll probably still come back though :)

I only play DA games for a variety of reasons.

A little background. I never really got into video games as a kid/young adult but I did like a few games here and there but never spent hours and hours playing them. I did get into King's Quest IV on PC back in the dinosaur days and a few SNES games. That being said, I have been playing table top AD&D since the 70's and in the 90's got into VtM LARP quiet deeply. Because I can play a character I want to play as.

I never really got into video games RPG because I could never find something that let me play as a female character/hero and due to certain personal reasons I never really felt I could actually play someone similar to my romantic preferences.

Fast forward to 2011 and I was in an accident and confined to a wheelchair and had a ton of free time on my hands. So I asked online if anyone knew of a fantasy RPG video game where I could play as a woman who was not simply window dressing and forced to wear skimpy armour. (Ironically in DA games I always choose the skimpy armour! Go Dalish Bikini Armour! It's just the fact that I have the choice)

Someone suggested DAO and well I was so hooked within an hour of playing. I had heard there was romance in the game but I assumed it was all hetro. So when Leliana started flirting with my HoF I was like, "OMG Is she actually coming on to me?" And when the two actually kissed and entered a relationship I was gobbsmacked. I had had no idea that was even possible. Let me tell you that was a pretty magical moment for me and sent me down the DA path I have been on ever since.

Besides the above, I love the lore and mythology of DA. It's just so in depth and deep and mysterious. I am a writer and this is what really hooked me. The writing and time they took to create this massive world of Thedas. It's just beyond anything I had ever expected.

Since finishing DAO and DA2 (while waiting for DAI) I played SO MANY (nearly 20) other fantasy RPG but they all seemed shallow in comparison and I definitely never felt I was the audience they were made for. The only exception to this is W3, which I have not played as I can't play as female, but one of the people in my DA fansite is a huge fan and has got me into the lore. I am hoping they have a game where you can play Ciri or Yennefer or perhaps a new female protagonist.

So for me, the DA games are the only ones that draw me in. I am open to playing others but right now there just isn't out there that appeals to me.

I really actually enjoyed Shadow of Mordor, sadly the devs didn't make the GOTY compatible with the regular so i would have had to replay all my progression...  so i just gave up and walked away/traded it out.

i understand your pov, I've got a game collecting addiction i suppose which doesn't help.  I am playing Minecraft on ps4  (moved from pc, long story) which lets me apply my creative abilities somewhat (my masochistic streak shows up as i can't just play in creative mode, that or i just like to swear a lot).    I will return to Mass Effect 3 to finish some DLC stuff or re-experience the romance of a favourite character (until my real life gives me someone worthy of showering that kind of attention upon, whatever gets you through, right? ;p)

I enjoy stupid games that are over the top like Onechanbara ZII where i'm making a mess of monsters with girls in bikinis with crazy FX...  or Akiba's trip where i run around ripping clothing off attacking NPCs (controls suck for that game...)   The Division is great if you like immersive environments (bad if you dislike video game guns), i got similar value for the pretty world in Battlefront and set up my own challenges for those games, ignoring the PVP as much as possible (I simply don't have that kind of OCD, like some do with Battlefield or CoD or w-e those kids do. I have the OCD of making and reaching my own goals.  I can't set a goal for being on, say, DAIMP leaderboard, because I'll then lose track of what is important.. Having fun.  Something my grinding days of WoW have taught me).

To the point of updates invalidating gameplay.. that depends on the goals you want to achieve that make the game fun.  True though, i walked away from the Division, like i did from WoW, after the Devs screwed up the balance.  It requires real care and attention the money people at the big game companies simply have no interest nor desire to invest.
