How would you like MEA to begin? Immediately start with Ryder waking up from cryostasis? Maybe begin with Ryder's sibling as the main character?

Here's what was I thinking: Shepards speech from the N7 day video is actually from a speech at the send off to the arks of the Andromeda Initiative. The game begins with Ryder mysteriously awaking from their sleep. They then walk the empty halls of their ship, hearing audio clips and seeing video of their old home (including the speech, with our Shepard and everything). They ultimately come across a crowded bridge, filled with others who have awakened. We then pan to see the Andromeda galaxy before us, and from there, our new journey for home begins!

How would y'all want Mass Effect Andromeda to kick off?

probabbly it will star when we leave earth or Milk way (if that planet from trailer isnt earth) something similar to ME1 where we hear ppl speak about us and we make our character creation

I predict we'll be on rails for the first say... two hours. Like every recent Bioware game. I can't wait to get past that part.

Well, that happens since Baldur's Gate 2 in the least.

I would like the game to begin with a plausible and satisfying way of pulling the story out of the hole ME3 dug for the series.

I think it will be like Fallout 4 where you create your character and play like 15-20 minutes before you go on ice. Cinematic starts as the Ark leaves Milky Way, camera pans to your ice pod or whatever when you're ready to 'wake up', then you walk through the Ark as others start to wake up, and once you arrive on the bridge you see a landscape type shot of the star system the Ark is arriving at. Mass Effect Andromeda pans somewhere on the screen, and then your Duncan/Anderson type of character greets and briefs you on what's next.

This sounds reasonable.

I ... kinda want it to begin with "We made it", and go from there.

I don't think I've ever played an RPG that started in media res. I've always thought the idea of abruptly throwing the player into a dramatic event, giving them a big choice with barely any context, and cutting back to the past right as they make their decision. The rest of the game could build to that decision, slowly providing background information and capitalizing on dramatic irony. It probably wouldn't work very well in this particular genre, and unless the game is thematically about the danger of first impressions or something, it wouldn't be more than a gimmick, but the thought always seems so cool in my head.

But in classic sci-fi manner, I'd expect ME:A to start with a short passage of exposition text that transitions to either 1. the frantic exodus scene in the Milky Way (like Titan AE) or 2. the "we made it" scene, and then move from there. Gameplay-wise it would make the most sense to give the players control right after we wake up because stasis disorientation is always a decent excuse to go over movement controls.

"War... war never changes."

If not this, I want the scene where everyone comes out of cryogenic stasis from Aliens.

*Camera is focused on earth*

*Camera zooms out and a space ship comes into the shot, flying by*

*Camera focuses on the hand holding the space ship toy*

*Camera pans back to the earth, turns out it's a globe*

*Camera pans back to the hand and zoom out revealing a well built Haitian bloke*

"So, I hear you like space stories!" ;)

The player determines:

1. Whether there's music.

2. Whether there's dancing.

3. The style of dancing.

4. Whether you sing along or not.

5. Whether to kick the rats(/shoot the gasbags)

Depending on class, you either jetpack across the chasm, do an acrobatic flip across the chasm, or biotic charge across the chasm.

It'll be a marvel.

Here's my view:

The scene opens up with a view of the ARKs orbiting Earth, then shifts to Admiral Hackett debriefing Shep about the ARKCON project. Shep gives that goodbye speech and the ARKs leave orbit, just before the Reapers hit the Moon's Defenses.  We see a flurry of CGI effects, the ARKS arriving in the Helius Cluster and our Ryder waking up.

With one of the three ARKs being revealed as the HYPERION, I see the project to be a total Alliance effort.

Yes but some thoughts and opinions need to be kept quiet

I agree if the said opinions are completely ridiculous, but this thread seems pretty harmless.

I actually wouldn't mind the game starting a bit before we're on the ark. We're introduced to our family - given a bit of background -maybe get involved in a small quest or two because of some complication. I sometimes feel like things move a bit too quickly in video games when unfolding the plot.

(then again, when i played KOTOR 2 I wanted to get out of the tutorial level and get my lightsaber as quickly as possible, so I guess I don't know what I'm talking about  :P)

The game should start with the character creator, before doing anything else. Then it needs to explain why we are in Andromeda, who organized it, and how we got here. That could be an intro mission. Then Ryder can awake. And no, I don't want to buy a book to figure that out.

Preferably by clicking "New game" or a similarily named option in the main menu.
