where is a good photo hosting site to upload pics so i can link to them here to show in my posts?

Hm, I used to use Imageshack, which allowed you to upload images freely and had ready-made forum codes for posting clickable image thumbnails to forums, but they've changed since I last used them and now require signing up for an account.

thanks! I don't mind signing up for an account as long as it will let me link to the pic. I have something weird in my level that I can't describe easily. a pic would do a better job.

I used Imageshack years ago when it was free. I tried to view an old pic recently and now I have to pay a subscription to access my pics.


Now I use Imgur or photobucket.

Well, if you're going to sign up for something, I'd recommend the free basic Dropbox, which is what I use now.  It's not made specifically for images, but it gives you a place to upload things where you can share them.  It's usually called a cloud backup service.  I used it to keep my module backed up online while I was working on it.

i have dropbox already.  i didn't know it would allow me to link to pics tho. honestly, i have no idea what any of those things do.  i've used dropbox once.  for all i know they could have deleted my account because of inactivity. lol i just want to upload a simple pic somewhere that i can get it to show up here so i can show what's happening in one of my more stubborn levels.

i also have mediafire and i tried uploading it there and putting it a post, but it wouldn't show up.  i figured dropbox would do about the same.

If you do get into your Dropbox account, the way to make the images show up here would be to put the image in your public folder, and when it syncs it, right click on it and pick "Copy Dropbox link" or "Copy public link".  Then come here to the forum, click the "Image" button, and paste the link you just copied.

Imgur is probably the best bet at present. It provides BBCode for quick and easy embedding, although unfortunately it doesn't seem like it automatically creates thumbnails any more like it used to.

Photobucket used to be ok a few years ago, but I'm not a fan of various changes they made.

umm....i am in it (dropbox), but there is no folder called public.  there is one called sharing however but it won't let me move my pic there.  honestly, this is sad to say, but i can't do a thing with the internet. lol  i am fairly good at scripting and making my dao pretty, but i lack the patience to do much else.  i believe it comes from 6 years of only having internet on my cellphone and using XP from 2004 until that pc died almost a month ago.  all this 'cloud' and calling everything an "app" business gets on my last nerve, but I will figure it out! lol

I'm not fond of the ubiquity of the abbreviation "app" either.  We already had a word for small applications years before that one came about, if "application" took too long to say, and that was applet.

 

Anyway, as I understand it, you have to create the "public" folder yourself these days, but it would probably be easier to upload it to one of those other services the others mentioned.
