I like this idea.  He needs to have ballistic blades too.

+ His heavy melee would be very useful in the Male/Male romances.

What about an unindoctrinated collector? Assuming control of this squad...

It would certainly be a chance to learn more about the Batarians, you know outside of the whole one dimensional 'racist slavers' tag they were saddled with for the entire trilogy.

Plus I'm still annoyed that Zaeed wasn't a Batarian. His character would've only been cooler as one, but no, we get another human companion.

Y'know, I've never thought about it before, but Zaaed would have suited being a Batarian.

The late, great Robin Sachs definitely had the voice for it.

I'd say it's probably the jowly face, weird chin and sharp teeth.

Oh hell yes. I've been rooting for them since ME2. I would actually be hyped if the most under represented and over hated race got some time to shine.

Eh, beauty is subjective.

Garrus was still sexy, despite his very non-human appearance and even after he took a rocket to the face!

Well depending on when Andromeda starts......They dead.

No, as anyone who played ME3 knows, not all of them are dead. The majority of them are not, in fact.

I'm not attached to the MW species at all. I rather have a majority of new species in my squad. I'm in Andromeda, not in the MW. Besides I don't think batarians have something new to offer. Most appear to be aggressive humans with too many eyes and sharp teeth.

Yes, we've been there done that previously.  By all means have MW shipmates with side plot, but lets explore relationships with different aliens who are actually more alien.

I'm very attached to most of the MW species, not having them on the game would be too much of a loss for me.

Now, I understand your point of view, I also want to meet many andromeda natives (and have a new species for squadmate), I hope they will find a good balance between the old characters and the new ones.

Zaeed would have been awesome as a Batarian. Would have made sense too. Could have been an ex-SIU operative too! Argh Bioware missed a good chance. Found this on DeviantArt.

Batarians suck.

Agreed. One tried to poison me on Omega. He paid dearly.

EDIT: In all honesty no batarian would go on a human ship that is launching from Earth.

More reason why the Arctic should be a joint venture of all the council races, and not just humanity. Kind of limits the story.

Baterians were just redshirts.  Some other species will fill this role.

Thats the charm. The normal and "boring" should not be overlooked.

They are the humans who did not grow in the Galactic context. Andromeda is a new galaxy, the second chance that they would have to change they political role. BW can develop a good plot from there.

According to some stats I read a while ago, Batarians are the least played race in the ME3 multiplayer.

Which is a shame, because rolling a Soldier with a Shotgun and Ballistic Blades made for a fun combination and close-quarters combat.

I used the soldier a lot but perhaps one of my fav classes to play though a bit risky is the Bat Vanguard total melee build.  Lot's of hate surfing.

Correct, from what it looks like though Andromeda starts before ME3. You know when 99% of the race wants us dead no matter what. We're more likely to get a volus squadmate than a batarian.

But a lot of that is probably the fault of the Batarian Hegemony, who are implied to have spread a lot of anti-human propaganda among their people and used humanity as an easy scapegoat to blame for all their problems. Once that regime collapsed in ME3, most of the Batarians we encounter don't seem to hold that much hatred towards humans, now their oppressive government isn't looking over their shoulder and insisting they are the devil incarnate.

Obviously there are a few who do believe the propaganda, especially members of the former regime like Balak, but I don't think they all feel that way or are unable to change their minds. As good example is helping the injured Batarian on Omega in ME2, who is genuinely surprised to learn that humans have a sense of decency, since he's always been told negative things about them. I expect that the species banding together during the Reaper invasion probably washed away many of those old beliefs and prejudices.
