Correct, from what it looks like though Andromeda starts before ME3. You know when 99% of the race wants us dead no matter what. We're more likely to get a volus squadmate than a batarian.

I don't know about that.

Just because the Batarians might be on not so good terms with the galaxy would't mean their automatic exclusion for the ARK initiative. I mean the Krogan apparently get a free pass despite, up until well into ME 3, your average member of that species not even thinking twice about killing and then eating any Salarian or Turian they came across.

Besides, the Batarians did show competent use of backwater channels and operating on their own for extended periods of time when they were funding their shadow war with the Alliance leading up the Skyilian Blitz. Skills like that would surely come in handy when having to start from scratch and deal with other species.

But a lot of that is probably the fault of the Batarian Hegemony, who are implied to have 1)spread a lot of anti-human propaganda among their people and used humanity as an easy scapegoat to blame for all their problems. 2)Once that regime collapsed in ME3, most of the Batarians we encounter don't seem to hold that much hatred towards humans, now their oppressive government isn't looking over their shoulder and insisting they are the devil incarnate.

Obviously there are a few who do believe the propaganda, especially members of the former regime like Balak, but I don't think they all feel that way or are unable to change their minds. As good example is helping the 3)injured Batarian on Omega in ME2, who is genuinely surprised to learn that humans have a sense of decency, since he's always been told negative things about them. I expect that the species banding together during the Reaper invasion probably washed away many of those old beliefs and prejudices.

1. True, since the Hegemony has been pretty much the entirety of information about humans the only ones who would if anything be willing to work with humans would be an old batarian who knows the hegemony is full of bs.

2. From what it appears with the little information we are given it seems the game starts before ME3, so most probably still hate us.

3. He was the 1% i took away in my previous post lol

Didn't an article in the Alliance News Network reveal that prior to the start of ME3, the Alliance were surprised to encounter Batarian military leaders and officials from the Hegemony requesting help, as well as a suspiciously large amount of ships fleeing from that region of the galaxy?

Meh, Batarians are perhaps the least interesting race to me.  Just a rather lazy 'take a human body and stick a bunch of eyes on it, Doctor Who circa 1970s style' alien.

Chuck him out the airlock and give his berth to my space hamster.  Much better company. :P

Considering all the footage of the Ark's have been above Earth there is no reason to assume that any other races were building them. It's because of all the conflict that the batarians have started that the alliance would exclude them from the project. You don't jeapordize the future of your race by inviting people who's main priority is to kill you and sabotage anything you want to do.

Boom, there it is.

I really don't want a Batarian squaddie. Even if we haven't had one before, it doesn't mean we have to have one.

That pretty much sums up your basic Krogan in the eyes of the rest of the galaxy also. The only difference between the Krogan and the Batarians over the course of the trilogy was that the Batarians had their own fleets and established infrastructure, and they disliked humans as opposed to Salarians and Turians.

Yes, the possibility should be there. You don't ask if a Vorcha should be in it. It has to be in it. More options, more better! Even if I won't use him.

The Krogan don't actively hate humans, who seem to be the only race that have ark ships above their world. I get what you're saying. I mean if Turians or Salarians have their own ships then I can see them banning Krogan from theirs, but the Alliance isn't going to let Batarians onboard.

Would be a bit of a PR nightmare if they refused to let the Batarians on the Ark though, because that would be consigning an entire race to extinction, simply because the former totalitarian government of the Batarians happens to have it out for humanity.

You can't exactly claim the moral high ground or keep your hero card, when you leave a bunch of people to die simply because you don't like them?

I'm waiting for someone in-game to try justifying leaving all the non-fan favorites behind.

"Yeah, all those Batarians/Hanar/Elcor/Volus/Vorcha (etc) were just lesser species anyway."

The batarians don't just have it in for humanity. They aren't cooperating with any other race.

It would be a good place to use that red shirt BioWARE always has in their games.

Make it an asari.

I think this expedition is going to be disguised as purely exploratory, not as an escape/preservation plan. These colonists/explorers will not be let on to it until they arrive in Andromeda and get some pre-made recording. I expect only council affiliated races will be privy to this expedition and some hired muscle for future protection (krogan). No batarians, due to their desire to enslave sapient species. Also can you imagine telling a group of quarians they have to abandon the flotilla forever, or possibly to its doom. They'd never make such a journey, but stay and help or fight for their people.

This ^^ Batarians and Quarians are more than likely not going to be in the game.

I love the "I don't like that race, so it should die" logic around these parts.

Krogans were bloody terrorists too, but because Bio actually gave them a "saviors of the galaxy" role people are okay with them. I just think it'd be cool if Bio gave batarians the chance to redeem themselves as they did with the krogans; hell, even the mother effing rachni redeemed themselves by blaming everything on the Reapers.

I don't want to see the quarians, drell, vorcha or/and batarians die just because some people think they don't have a place. What if we suddenly don't have asari/turians/salarians anymore, people will be cool with that too? F*** that. Live and let live.

That's the key difference.

By the time the game takes place Batarians ARE terrorists.  Krogans WERE.

The Krogans saved the galaxy once.  Batarians haven't done so yet.

Why not? I mean something new is always good and how about we stop seeing the race as "the evil human haters" and think about what characters could come from that racial background. I think there is a lot of hidden potential. And I think; if the Krogans a rather poor and not that popular race (go ask a Salarian), with a low chance of repopulating a new galaxy, will be in andromeda why not other races? It doesn't mean they get their own ark but I'm sure some highly skilled individuals could have been chosen to come to andromenda too. So I could see them coming at least as NPCs. I wouldn't mind them as a crewmate either but my hopes are not really up for them because let's face it we will get the same old races we used to before. Human, Krogan and of course Asari. Not really exciting because we know these pretty well by now.

The krogan still are terrorists. Lots of krogan mercs do crappy things, and there is the Blood Pack.

The fans just like them because of Wrex "Dinosaur Jesus"

Yeah, but so do turians (blue suns are just hired thugs), so do asari and salarians. So do humans.
